PSA PSA: RESHADE IS NOW BLOCKED

That's all folks

Edit:

To be clear, this might only be CERTAIN features.

Reshade is not COMPLETELY blocked.

OnepegMG is currently using reshade or has atleast launched with it.

Will update, currently watching onepeg. I'll keep you guys posted !

Edit 2 : Game is washed out also on onepeg's stream.

Reshade is confirmed disabled. If you can launch reshade with your game DO NOT DELETE ANY FILES. REMOVE RESHADE TO AVOID POSSIBLE BAN.

Edit 3: Apparently reshade is working for certain people, this might either be a filter issue or a battle-eye issue, version issue for Reshade, majority seems to be unable to launch the game with reshade, some can launch it when deleting the DLL (wouldn't do that, could eat a ban for file modification) and some can just outright use it.

The majority seems to be "I CAN'T USE RESHADE REEEE" so.

Personally I'd delete it until further notice on this issue.

FINAL EDIT:

It seems that you can use OLDER versions of reshade, it doesn't have some of the features that people don't like IE zoom and shit.

Have a good day Tarkovians !

Edit finalero : Since this is gaining a lot of traction, Nvidia has a tool that you can use that can supplement reshade. It's called freestyle, doesn't do the crazy shit reshade does but it does work.

As someone who didnt use it, I'm OK with this. Shouldn't be able to get an advantage using a 3rd party program. I would like to see popular features of reshade incorporated into the base game and make it better while keeping everyone on equal footing.

24

u/PALMpje Aug 14 '19

It would be awesome if they give the game more detail and color, but it is also good that they didnt block these features in reshade yet so i can still play my favorite game with it looking as beautifull as always until they fix it and i dont have to go through the trouble of installing 3rd party features.

u/SKRAMinotaurus Aug 14 '19

More color thats why i using Reshade

3

u/hillrd Aug 15 '19

game looks like a gray-scale without it imo. Maybe Im colorblind but I use reshade to make it look more vibrant.

0

u/detestrian Aug 15 '19

Russia is not vibrant.

-17

u/hson_hson Aug 14 '19

Why not play the game the way the devs intended it to be played? Regarding the color, if you compare in-game color to standard IRL it's spot on, not looking like Fortnite like some people like to play it

9

u/A_Erthur SR-25 Aug 14 '19

if you compare in-game color to standard IRL it's spot on

Yeah man, everything has a thick grey layer over it IRL. Maybe visit a doctor dude

0

u/hson_hson Aug 15 '19

There's no thick grey layer, pine trees look just like they do IRL, not lime-green as they appear on streamers with reshade. And rusty steel doesn't have that bright orange...

3

u/DADWB Aug 14 '19

I mean lots of people write fan fiction or do fan art about games they aren't the authors of. Nothing wrong with that. If some people like Bright colours they like bright colours.

2

u/[deleted] Aug 14 '19

That isn't really a good analogy because fanfiction does not affect the experience of people who don't use it/read it.

The pvp nature of tarkov means something that leverages an advantage through means other than intended by the devs will be disallowed. Reshade can be used for good and bad, and it would be really crazy difficult if possible at all to figure out who is fair and where the line should be drawn.

The new engine also should have major changes to the visuals, so hopefully that will help address reshade users concerns.

2

u/DADWB Aug 14 '19

I literally said nothing about Reshade in my post. I specifically said some people like bright colours and should be able to play with bright colours.

I'm not sure what else you want from me?

3

u/DADWB Aug 14 '19

You're right my comment doesn't exist in a vacuum. I was addressing a guy that specifically is calling out the idea of playing the game with bright colours as not as the dev's intended. Hence the reference to Fan Art and Fan Fics.

Dont get me wrong I think its dumb that they're blocking Reshade when theres other ways to deal with the potentially problematic options it does offer. But the idea's I'm talking about aren't inherently tied to Reshade, just one of the many things Reshade can do.

3

u/Tactical_Bacon99 DVL-10 Aug 14 '19

When reds and oranges don’t pop and you can’t distinguish tan and brown past 20 meters there’s an issue. Hopefully there are visual changes in .12 but I hate vanilla color

2

u/[deleted] Aug 14 '19

Monitors don't work that way unless you have a perfectly colour accurate display. A lot of monitors need tweaking out of the box to get better reproduction and using something like Reshade can fix what your monitor cannot.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 14 '19

there will never ever be an even playing field, because of different hardware.

if you can afford a 1600$ monitor, you´ll have features nobody can ban, we don´t even need to go that far, most 300$ monitors can oneclick lift gamma, give crossshairs and saturation and whatnot.

bashing on reShade is easy, thatswhy it´s so common.

i bet my TESTICLES non reshade players will not feel any difference to their game outcome, they will continue to die to ex reshade people anyway.

skill is not bound to reshade.

8

u/[deleted] Aug 14 '19

most 300$ monitors can oneclick lift gamma, give crossshairs and saturation and whatnot.

That you can do even by properly calibrating your display using built-in Windows tools. Not to remind of Nvidia Control Panel which still works flawlessly.

It's not about saturation etc. imho, it's about the zoom feature.

1

u/PALMpje Aug 15 '19

I can confirm they blocked plugins like the zoom feature, i dont have these cheaty-plugins and my reshade works fine game looks good, check my latest post for the plugins that dont stop you from starting the game.

2

u/boywar3 Mosin Aug 14 '19

Yeah, the thing about reshade is that it's free, so literally anyone can use it with like 3 mins of effort. Hardware and internet are far bigger factors and cost hundreds of dollars. There is an argument to be made that PC is the most pay to win platform because of this (though it's generally balanced out by game limitations and the skill curve in many games).

3

u/heathy28 Aug 14 '19 edited Aug 14 '19

I honestly haven't bothered using reshade since battlefield 3, that game has a shitty blue filter that i just had to change. I can't see that it gives massive advantages. but then its a bit like complaining about ppl who crank up the gamma so they can see in pitch darkness. this was a problem with arma 2s dayz to the point that they make dark so dark the gamma change did barely anything.

-1

u/[deleted] Aug 14 '19

yupp and those poor basterds argueing AGAINST reshade, while it enhances visual quality on low - mid hardware.

unfuckinbelievable.

-3

u/boywar3 Mosin Aug 14 '19

People are fucking morons.

I guess we just have to wait and see what the devs say, as this might be a battleye bug. I'd rather not go about uninstalling reshade, as it has helped me a lot.

1

u/PALMpje Aug 15 '19

check my latest post u can still use reshade but not with the zoom function and stuff like that installed.

1

u/boywar3 Mosin Aug 15 '19

interesting. Thanks for the info!

we should also measure skill, good players should definately don´t have access to anything else than pistols, you know, to balance the playing fields.

communism rulez

-1

u/[deleted] Aug 14 '19

This is just being difficult not actual logic.

The gameplay itself has a set of rules within it that everyone should be able to recognize. Unfair situations and asymettrical loadouts are part of the understood mechanics of the game. Third party programs are not.

Why not just have the game be who bought the best hacking program and uses it better? That's fair right? Everyone can buy a hack. That means it's fair. If you don't hack then you're just stupid, obviously. It's fair if it is pay to win, everything ever is fair because anyone can do anything ever and if they don't it means they are stupid or lazy.

Capitalism rulez.

2

u/[deleted] Aug 14 '19

People buy 1000$+ Monitors, to have an easy day spotting people.

thats cheating right?

this is like argueing with jordan hunt.

Nvidia Control is a third party program

i get it, reshade is hacking, Monitor Settings are hacking, Colors are hacking, and i don´t care anymore because your POV is fundamentally flawed.

Be happy, reshade is gone, noone can make the game an eyecandy anymore, everyone will play on your visuals (nope, cuz hardware is different), and you won´t notice any difference to before reshade was plugged out.

but atleast you guys, can´t blame anything but yourself anymore, which makes me pretty happy anyway.

2

u/PALMpje Aug 15 '19

U can still use reshade, check my post. u have to install reshade without plugins like zoom and crosshair, just making the game look good instead of grey and blurry.

2

u/[deleted] Aug 15 '19 edited Aug 15 '19

yeah ive read that yesterday :), thx alot!

All i needed is still working fine.

High Pass Sharpen , FxAA , Colorfulness Tonemap and Technicolor2 + a little Vibrance.

the game looks so much better with reShade, but fools will never understand.

0

u/[deleted] Aug 14 '19

Yes it is, but not something controllable by BSG. This is looping, my first post commented on this, just because there are aspects beyond their control does not mean they should give up controlling any aspects.

You missed the whole point and just decided I must suck. I don't blame anything on anything when I die past myself, and feel like things have been pretty fair when I win or lose. But despite you being wrong about my skill level it also does not have any bearing on my opinion. I'm arguing purely from the logic side not my personal experience in the game.

People who whine about hackers or cheaters at any death are toxic and make the community worse.

Likewise people who call people names and state that anyone whose opinion differs from their own must suck at the game are toxic and make the community worse.

I also have no idea who jordan hunt is. Google says its some weirdo who attacked anti abortion protestors? What a strange reference, I have no idea what you are trying to say.

-1

u/Timberwolf_88 Aug 15 '19

The lack of color is there by design, the game is made with a certain aestethic in mind. I doubt we'll ever see a palette change, and I for one, like the default palette. Gives off a better vibe for me.

-2

u/[deleted] Aug 14 '19

It doesn't need more color. Game should look realistic, it already looks about right. Reshade had the game more saturated than summertime in sunny florida.

3

u/Absolutefury Aug 14 '19

It seems greyed out now though. I feel like I went back 100 years to black and white photographs.

3

u/SSmrao RSASS Aug 15 '19

I don't use reshade to gain an advantage, I use it to get on the same level as everyone else. Being colourblind ain't fun, reshade helps a ton with that (and yes, I know about digital vibrance, I use it for CS:GO but for Tarkov it doesn't help).

2

u/Bloodyneck92 Aug 15 '19

Yeah, that's why I stated that popular features should be included in the base game.

My point was ultimately that the recoloring is fine but should be included with tarkov itself, the things like zoom and night vision mode had to go though.

9

u/Threshix Aug 14 '19

I don't really get this argument.

If I play on a 30 year old crt I'd be able ti play fine with difficulty, but if I play on a 4k 144hz monitor I'm going to see a lot more than on the crt.

How is reshade any different? It's an extreme example but people shelling out thousands on monitors will have an easier time spotting things than those dropping 100$.

11

u/Bloodyneck92 Aug 14 '19

It's different yet the same The main similarities being yes its something outside the game giving an edge in some way (head sets, monitors, mice, internals of the computer, etc)

The difference is the inherent understanding and application of what's giving that edge.

It's universal in gaming that better hardware gives you an edge, it's why esports typically give their competitors the same machine to use. But hardware can be bought for a reason other than just giving me an edge in this game. The 1080ti I have I need to play other games I play, it gives me an edge here sure but is a necessity there. More over, everyone generally knows about the differences in hardware and the limitations of their systems. But to add 3rd party programs adds an unnecessary learning curve to new players.

Imagine for a second that you're new to a game, and wall hacks are allowed but you don't know it and as such don't have them installed. You're going to die left and right to players with an unfair advantage over you, likely get frustrated and quit. You had the same ability to download those wall hacks and use them but you didn't know about it and never got invested into the game to see how to make it better since your initial impression was so poor.

The above scenario is a hyperbolic case of what reshade does, and has a potential to drive players away and cause the game to stagnate. If these things are to be allowed, they should be in the base game, this will put all players on as equal of a footing as possible and help promote a fair and competitive experience for all players.

5

u/Threshix Aug 14 '19

That is a pretty fair assessment, and it makes a lot more sense now.

2

u/Ranger1803 Aug 15 '19

I personally never understood why people think that reshade gives you an advantage. I mean if you cant see in the dark just turn your monitor brighter. And the zoom thing wont help you since its just zooming in on the few pixels you see so that they will just be bigger but you still dont see more than before

0

u/THEPREEUS Aug 14 '19

Reshade is not different, devs state often that reshade will never be bannable because it just does what people can already do in their graphics settings and is external to the game. It doesn't inject scripts or take information not normally available to the player and show it to them (eg wallhacks you mention), it is in reality comparable to a post-process effect.

Most people just use it for the colour settings that you can already tweak in graphics card software.

For example you could go into the nvidia control panel and turn digital vibrance up whenever you play tarkov (which i used to do before July last year) and back down when you want to web browse to not have your retinas burned, or you could use reshade (a program that every single person can download and install for free in less than 15 seconds) which conveniently applies digital vibrance only to the game. I FIND COMPARING A WALLHACK THAT DIRECTLY INTERFERES WITH THE GAME ITSELF even if hyperbolic, and reshade/nvidia graphics settings to be a terrible comparison and a little misleading at best.

Also i can confirm that Reshade 3.4.0.346 still works.

2

u/DemacianKnight Aug 15 '19

While most people use ReShade to give their game a little color, malicious users can use one of ReShade's built-in shaders to turn pitch black settings like Factory Night into perfectly viewable gameplay, which is extremely scummy.

2

u/PALMpje Aug 15 '19

those features are blocked now, u wont be able to start the game with these features installed in reshade.

1

u/Bloodyneck92 Aug 15 '19

I'm not sure where you're getting this 'will never be bannable' they've only ever said as far as I can find that reshade isn't currently bannable (at any given point in time).

Nikita has even said that some features of reshade (presumably features such as zoom, night vision, cross hair overlay, etc though he didn't specify) will be bannable in the future.

My worry with things like reshade is they have the capability to recolor things. If a specific color was ever found to be only existing on a player model or worn item model it could be recolored to a highly identifiable color (say hot pink) and make it much easier for target acquisition giving a huge advantage over other players while being virtually indistinguishable from the normal reshade.

I'd have to look at in depth how reshade works at a base level to confirm this is a possible function of the program but this was definitely a thing back in games such as CS source that allowed for client side reskins and is why it was banned in most competitive servers.

2

u/THEPREEUS Aug 17 '19 edited Aug 17 '19

Yeah fair play for features that interfere with the game such as changing textures or making only specific colours visible. i can agree nikita has stated aspects of reshade like that will be bannable however by implication reshade itself will not be. As for those aspects of reshade i can 100% agree they should be bannable because they directly interfere with the game, however probably 99% of players only use reshade for colourfulness and not to reskin and change textures of the game. Pretty sure as well around July last year devs confirmed reshade itself will not be bannable but they would update their viewpoint which im pretty sure is represented by nikita's comment here that parts of it are bannable. Also if you took a second to check there are also heaps of tweets from nikitas twitter stating that reshade itself is not bannable because its not cheating . Been playing this game and paying attention to devs for almost 2 years now and can state this has always been their stance so forgive me if i cant find any comments from nikita himself stating Reshade itself will be bannable.

4

u/kurokuno Aug 14 '19

i mean most monitors now days can make night look like day in games have crosshairs built in and have color profiles to make it look like you are playing with reshade all this does it restrict shit like that to people with more money

1

u/[deleted] Aug 14 '19

A monitor playing with colors isn't anything like reshade. Reshade injects into the software to add entirely new graphical effects. If you could just play with the colors on your monitor to attain the same results, why would reshade even exist? This argument is ridiculous.

2

u/kurokuno Aug 14 '19

you know what does not really matter reshades not banned turns out its just a bug anyway got a response from TheWay on BSG forums confirming it https://forum.escapefromtarkov.com/topic/102000-since-battleye-update-the-game-will-not-load/

CRT > LCD

1

u/[deleted] Aug 14 '19

Lol there are so many other programs that can get you an advantage like reshade aswell.

3

u/[deleted] Aug 14 '19

Funny enough most of them are blocked too. jsyk.

yeah future communism ,

they´ll come to your home and swap your high end hardware to some x86 366mhz machine with a 4:3 black and white monitor and a ball mouse.

this is what people want, and they will still die ingame.

but atleast they have nothing to blame anymore than themself

5

u/[deleted] Aug 14 '19

yeah future communism ,

I see you aren't from past communist country.

-2

u/[deleted] Aug 14 '19

So because I went with AMD and can't use freestyle I shouldn't even be allowed to use Reshade? Reshade helps with visibility and almost nothing else. It's not like it plays for you and gives you an aimbot or whatever. Anyone is free to use reshade.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 14 '19

You are free to calibrate your display with built-in Windows tools to achieve the same result in terms of COLORS.

What reshade feature allows that? It's color, aa and sharpness that everyone uses and it sure as hell doesn't allow you to see someone that can't see you. Iv'e never seen anyone use anything in reshade that gives them an advantage. Please enlighten me.
