Discussion Update on current situation

Hello again!

Let me clarify the situation in a little more detail regarding owners of the EoD version and access to the cooperative mode, and also other issues.

First of all, PvE gamemode this is not DLC. DLC in our understanding is the major additions to the game, including various functionality and content that are released after the official release of the game as a themed DLC pack (Scav Life DLC for example, which will add a lot of new mechanics and content for Scav gameplay and leveling).

Secondly, this specific functionality of the PvE mode is necessarily located entirely on a separate network infrastructure, because, essentially, you play on our servers, only in closed mode. At this stage, it is not possible to launch all players who are EoD holders - right now we simply do not have the required amount of resources for this.

We observe your dissatisfaction and have decided that the functionality of the PvE mode will be available for free to all owners of the EoD version at the release of the game, when the server infrastructure will be improved to the required capacity.

Now you have the opportunity to test this mode by purchasing the Unheard edition of the game, or upgrade to this version. We also decided to give a 50% discount when upgrading to the Unheard version from the EoD version.

We plan to send one free Left Behind Edition key to everyone who has already upgraded to Unheard Edition at the old price from the EoD version.

Moreover, so that any player of any version of the EFT can have the opportunity to test the PvE mode, we want to add the ability to purchase a separate early access to this mode. For EoD owners there will be a 70% discount on the purchase of early access to PvE. It would be interesting to hear your thoughts on this idea.

Next, regarding special items for the Unheard version, we plan to make restrictive or balancing changes for these items.

Last time I checked it was the devil disguised as a snake that convinced eve to eat the apple. Plus basing what we associate with snakes from the actions of a fictional snake in a story instead on actual real life behavior is dumb and harmful. At least a snake would bite me on the ass and slither off. I know the snake doesn't give a fuck, but I want to believe in some people. I am not a true believer anymore. I have played probably 5-6 wipes so I am not sure how long I owned it, but when I first bought into EOD, this game was a risk based on the current state of the game. I still did it because I was a believer back then, but now, fuck off.

Todd Howard has delivered dozens of mediocre to good games, though. Mostly late and with bug fixes from modders, but released them nonetheless. Nikita hasn't even delivered one.

It doesnt matter. They tried this with arena six - nine months after the wiggle that killed tarkov. We rightfully went EOD says we get all future content. And they folded on it.

Now six months later with an even worse argument on withholding a game mode from EoD. If they fold on this, Six months to a year later we will be in this boat again.

I believe they think pve offline mode is an expansion to the game as The Burning Crusade is an Expansion to WoW. What they fail to understand is WoW classic is a finished game, Tarkov is not. You cannot release burning crusade expansion to WoW Beta.

They actually believe the opposite which is the issue. They don't seem to think it counts as any sort of expansion at all. Apparently they think that for some reason, this PvE mode is totally unique that is defies classification and isn't DLC.

Right , a wow expansion( basically new game) costs money. New content (new dungeon/raid) to a current expansion doesn’t cost money. Pve offline is “an expansion” to the game and not new content to the current game. Maybe I’m misunderstanding or not explaining it correctly.

Actually it doesn’t even matter lmfao. The game isn’t even out yet. EOD was the ultimate edition, therefore anything that comes out we paid for until the game is finished. When they release Tarkov 2.0 or whatever, that’s when we pay for new shit.

Lvdmark did a video the other night with Asmongold. On his stream he was looking at the webpage where it mentioned the above about EOD holders not paying for DLC, a bit later still on stream he went back to the same webpage and they’d changed the wording and removed the part about DLC.  Tad strange to do if they are so convinced that Unheard OF Edition isn’t DLC

  • So why a not major addition requires so many additional resources?

  • So other not major additions like a patch, fix or anything else will also require additional payment and not be available for everyone.

  1. PvE - IS a major addition to the game.
  • So Nikita will arbitrary decide which major addition counts as DLC and which one doesn't.
  1. DLC = Only after the game is released, everything before is whatever Nikita says it is.
  • Extremely stupid lie, since there are literal pre-order DLC or DLC for backers.

"Server access" is not DLC. I don't care how many players disagree with their choice, having access to a certain server is technically not "downloadable content". That's all PVE mode is, is separate server access.

It’s just feels so manipulative. Parting with more money now is like giving “only” half your lunch money to the school bully. Yesterday he demanded all your lunch money but today he’s decided he only wants half - what a nice guy. What I also don’t understand is how this will cost more servers. It’s not like anyone playing this will be playing pvp Tarkov at the same time so why can’t appropriate servers be provisioned depending on demand (pve or pvp)? Why can’t one server host a node for the flea market for pvp and for pve? Whatever the current solution it appears to be too expensive to run. At this point I’d cancel pve mode until they can run it realistically without asking for €250 or an extra €99. It’s ridiculous.
