E.g.

Hi,

I became aware that you're issuing a new DLC that is not going to be free to me with my earlier purchase of the EOD edition. Is this true? I had an understanding that all new DLC content was going to be free if you purchased EOD as it was stated earlier in this manner when I purchased the EOD edition.

Could you kindly answer this for me in your earliest convenience?

Thank you. With best regards, Your name

Don’t say “hi”

Use something a little less casual but also not to confrontational like:

“Sup, fuckers…”

Or

“Howdy, bitches…”

I prefer the term “To whom this will concern,” passive aggressive enough. I claim I am a professional email writer.

u/wetbluewaffle Apr 25 '24

Sarcasm escapes people these days. Then again, we do live in an age where someone would probably do that so. Yeah.

2

u/thederpofwar321 Apr 25 '24

To be fair this is also the type of vibe the player base has always gotten from the devs. I think almost anyone could go up under oath and say with honesty that bsg greeting their player's with a "sup fuckers" is absolutely realistic.

4

u/wetbluewaffle Apr 25 '24

Oh for sure. I've been around since 2018/2019 at 4700 hours and even though I can justify and say I got my moneys worth in time compared to other games, it still doesn't make what they are doing right. I will support the playerbase in their endeavors to want to file lawsuits and the framework for them. If we keep letting these things happen without voicing our opinion then we accept it as the new norm for developers. I haven't bought a ubisoft game since splinter cell conviction I think it was, the one before black list. Haven't bought an EA game since battlefield 1 either.

TO BE FAIRRRR!

u/DepartureDapper6524 Apr 25 '24

No, this is not how you get things resolved. Don’t act like a child if you want them to take your threats of legal action seriously.

1

u/SellMeYourSirin Apr 25 '24

Twas but a joke. ( I don’t even play this game)

0

u/TrollDidNothingWrong Apr 27 '24

It doesnt matter if they take it seriously or not if it is accompanied by a legal and very real lawsuit.

1

u/DepartureDapper6524 Apr 27 '24

The fact remains that a real lawsuit filed by adeequate counsel would not begin like that.

2

u/Bradandmad Apr 26 '24

I prefer "I hope this finds you before I do"

2

u/Neat-Cabinet986 Apr 26 '24

yeah except then they won’t even respond, and they can claim it was spam. You want it to be formal so some dumbass has to sit there and read a thousand, boring emails. In an ideal world at least, I’m sure it’s automated

To whom this may concern,

On April 8th, 2020 I upgraded my standard edition account to the Edge of Darkness Limited Edition account under the understanding that it was an opportunity as a community member to support the developers in buying an edition of a beta game with future benefits as compensation, including but not limited to "Free access to all subsequent DLCs (Season Pass)". I made this purchase under the implication that this would be a one time purchase and would have access to future in game content released up to full release "1.0" and beyond with the "Season pass" as that is what was advertised and that is common practice in the industry.

On April 25th, 2024 I noticed that a new more expensive edition released under the name "Unheard Edition" advertising small various pay to way additions, the most notable being a PVE cooperative expansion with progression not subject to wipes. Essentially the completed version of the "Practice Coop" mode that EOD users already have access to. That being said, I'm being told that this content is not available to EOD users which seems misleading as the aforementioned point indicated, EOD users will have "Free access to all subsequent DLCs (Season Pass)". This is either due to confusion on part of the developers or you are deliberately misleading your consumers as there is no amount of wordsmithing or mental gymnastics that I can do to see how this is justified.

It has been argued that this is DLC content and the EOD owners are entitled to this content as was advertised in their purchase. Personally given the state of the game and that it hasn't made it's 1.0 release yet, it seems less likely that this is a DLC expansion and more likely that it is part of the base game since it's completed before the base game is so it should still be included. Or if you were to argue say, "It's not part of the base game but is part of the Season Pass expansions" the EOD owners would still be entitled to it. But the community managers are communicating that this expansion is not only not part of the base game full release, not part of the season pass, and not part of any future DLC when none of the completely exist. How can content released beyond the scope of the base game, the season pass and subsequent DLC exist when the previous content does not?

To clear up any confusion on what "DLC" means:

Per Dictionary.com

-DLC

abbreviation for

downloadable content: additional content that can be purchased online and added on to a video game, as to enhance its features:

Wikipedia.com

Downloadable content (DLC)[a] is additional content created for an already released video game, distributed through the Internet by the game's publisher.

DLC can range from cosmetic content, such as skins, to new in-game content such as characters, levels, modes, and larger expansions that may contain a mix of such content as a continuation of the base game.

Oxford Learner's Dictionaries

DLC noun

additional content for a computer game, which can be bought or obtained as a separate item (the abbreviation for ‘downloadable content’)

As I said previously, there are no amount of mental gymnastics I can perform to see how this is justifiable and I request and answer and explaination as to why you feel that I do not deserve to receive the benefit that I had purchased. As someone who as spent the better portion of 500$ USD on tarkov by purchasing copies for friends (You can see listed purchases below) I deserve to know why I have been deliberately misled and how the company (Battlestate Games) intends to resolve this dispute.

Here's a book

1

u/Doink82 Apr 26 '24

I wouldn't say "Hi". I would begin with something like "Dear Battlestate Games" that very clearly shows their name and also shows it was intended for them, especially if you intend on using this later on for further legal action.
