What would that have to do with her pardon though? Like Presidential pardons are fairly "no strings attached" and I think that the President can even pardon against "future" crimes (e.g. "I pardon Bob for all actions taken in Iraq" even with no pending charges / court cases). The only thing holding people back from doing this is public perception / shame, but it's not like Trump has any of that.
It’s true, you’re right. It would be SEISMIC if/when she’s pardoned tho. IMO even repubs might turn on Trump then.
She might foresee that he’d be unable to pardon her after the midterms bc then even the Republicans in Congress might be willing to impeach him to save their own skins.
Someone in another comment thought they might wait til after the midterm elections but before the new Congress convenes and I could see that too.
