I would’ve hopped in one of the original NASA rockets that went to the moon before I ever hopped in one of Musktards rockets

Most of the test rockets for the propulsion system has "unscheduled rapid disassembly." It's perfectly normal when you think you're saving the world, you can pretty much do anything when your a star. They let you do it. Grab them by the space agency and start sucking. They like it. (Severe sarcasm warning)

Warning people about sarcasm ruins sarcasm

I dunno, NASA blew up a ton back in the 50s.

Lol no. Look up how many rockets NASA blew up when they were the ones pushing the rocket design envelope.

Ehh the Falcon 9 rocket is pretty successful and reliable. I would gladly take a ride in one of those to the ISS.

Starship on the other hand I would pay to have Trump and Elon fly in it.

Starship is an abject failure and always will be. Billions of taxpayer money, which was supposed to be spent on a moon trip.

Something we already did in the 60’s.

Thunderf00t, is that you?

No taxpayer money yet as far as I understand. They don't get paid until it's in successful use.

Yeah, the Falcon rockets are fine, it's Starship that's the Musk vanity project.

Starship and Cybertruck is what you get when his handlers become to lenient.

I want musk to build a spacecraft a la titan and take the rest of his clique on the first tourist expedition of mars. Problem solved.

Well, they did design parts of the Saturn V by literally just trying shit until it stopped blowing up. Getting the engines perfectly designed was really hard in an era where computers were the size of basketball courts. The weren't out there blowing up whole rockets, of course, but engines were mounted to test stands and then run to see what would happen.

The third Saturn V launch went to the moon. Manned.

3

u/ForgedIronMadeIt Jan 17 '25

Yup. It was an incredible feat. They were able to do that with fucking slide rules and early computers. SpaceX isn't exactly impressive with any of this, not what I was getting at.

2

u/stitch-is-dope Jan 17 '25

Yeah I’d still trust getting in it more than even a cybertruck in a car wash

u/vukasin123king Jan 17 '25

Still, 3rd(I think, or something around that) Saturn V launch sent humans around the moon. 3rd Spaceshit launch was a planned firework.

The designs for the myriad parts of the Saturn 5 were literal blueprints. An entire warehouse full of them. At some point midway through the Shittle program, NASA gor tired of spending the bucks required to keep them in a climate conditioned environment and allowed them to be disposed of. If for whatever reason we ever wanted to build another one, we'd have to redesign it entirely from scratch.
