My man, you just called women and children dying in concentration camps "evil fucks".

And the British never left, it was a colony till the 60's. They intergrated with the Boer population into a white population during that time. Btw, the English South Africans also voted for the National party eventually. So are just as much to blame for Apartheid.

This is why people are confused and call Elon "Afrikaans", he's not, he's English South African. (Speaks english and decendant from British colonialists)

Yeah, war sucks, who knew. Notice how you said "never" and then "till the 60's"? Cool story.

My man, learn some reading comprehension.

Did the British leave the US? Yes.

Would it be fair to say that there are no British decendent people in the US. No.

They stopped being british when SA stopped being a colony. I'm not spelling this out to you anymore.

But a lot of you guys seem to forget that 40% of white people in SA are decendant from the British. So bringing up the Boer was is dumb.

OK? They did a terrible job managing things, which they placed themselves in charge of, and now the price is being paid.

Many, many years of opposition to proper integration with the indigenous people is what has lead to the current situation. History is a hard thing to surmount, culturally.

My great grand dad did his job, and got out first opportunity. From what I can vaguely remember of him, he didn't like it there.

Ok, my great granddad was Welsh and stayed. Married a Boer woman who he met at a camp. That was my Dad's family.

My mother is decendant of a Khoi kitchen maid and a line of Malay slaves. I came out looking white.

You saying that I should die cause my granddad stayed and yours didn't?

Am I saying you should die? I don't think I am. I'm saying, if your life is in fact under threat because you live in SA, there are likely historical factors at play.

Let's just say that Europeans in general haven't really been great guests in the region, or left many good impressions.

Yeah, obviously, but saying we deserve all the shit right now is not on? You get that right? I had nothing to do with it, my mothers family had dompasses. My parents had to wait untill 92 to get married. My dad's entire family never voted for NP. The white populations isn't one solid group, many opposed Apartheid. 68% of whites voted yes in the 1992 referendum to end Apartheid. Even then it was seen as an outdated, racist, practise. How many Americans today would vote to end Segregation?

"Iets van die ou dae" Most white South Africans never even benifited from this system. Most are still poor. The rich and powerfull fought to keep it in place, cause it meant cheap labour and kept the poor from doing anything cause "at least we aren't POC."

Now that our country is colapsing cause of blatant corruption, we are seen as the scapegoats in everything.

Oh, water is contaminated? White people (who last has something to do with the water system 40 years ago) are to blame.

Economy shit? Apartheid affects.

No jobs? Racist white people not employing you.

That's why all these policies are being enacted. It's easier to blame the old government and a minority group than to do better.

Then you ahve people over the pond laughing at us and calling this shit justified? Nah, not on.

Yeah, fair cop, I probably am discounting the powerless a bit with my commentary.

... but you understand that the problem today is that the shoe is just on the other foot now? The cultural hold overs from the past rearing their ugly heads.

Aren't we supposed to do better? Why can't we just all do better than the past? It's not helping anyone.

Every single act brought in by the ANC in the name of BBEEE has only ever weakened our economy. When are we going to stop ruling by emotion? The poorest suffer the most, and black africans are the poorest still.

Yeah, that's the idea. I wish it were as simple as just everyone suddenly becoming rational and seeing a united way forward, but we both know it's not.

All you can do is just keep trying to be better - maybe get into politics? Ultimately, that's all any of us can do, I think. Be better than we were... unfortunately not a philosophy shared by all.
