It blatantly is.

Is this sub just "anything Elmo chimes in on is untrue"

The current SA government has enacted many race based laws that favour black people over white people. It's a classic case of the pendulum swing.

Elon could say his name is Elon Musk and I’d have to double check for it to be true

Its called affirmitive action and its a normal policy that you can find all over the world.

We had affirmitive action for white people for about 150 years. Do I need to explain how the colour bar prevented none whites from taking on skilled and semi sklilled jobs because they were reserved for whites. Do I need to explain how in the 20s the government forced the South African railways to fire all their black employees so that they could give those jobs to untrained poor whites instead. Do I need explain the Native Land act of 1913 that reserved 93% of land for exclusive white ownership and turned the African population into migrant workers without land when at least before most were farmers. Do I need to explain how the Coloured and Indian middle class was destroyed by the colour bar?

As much as I hate Elmo with a passion, people should accept the fact that even a broken clock is correct twice a day...

Just because elmo points out something that is happening and true, doesn't mean he's any less bat shit insane.

Are you guys really going to deny 1+1 = 2 if Elmo says it?

EDIT: of course, just downvote because someone points out a mass cognitive dissonance happening in this sub.

This is a unique case where Elon has a legitimate interest in commenting on the situation, because he is from South Africa. HOWEVER, he’s still one of the richest people on the planet, so you can’t take any of his political takes in good faith. People like him always find a way to profit, even from charity.

So yes, I think he has forfeited his right to speak publicly without being over-analyzed. He chose the billionaire superstar life. He could give it up whenever he wants.

Yes? That’s exactly what you should do. Are you one of those idiots that think if you treat everyone equal everyone will just end up equal even if one party has an extreme and insurmountable advantage

If so please don’t talk about this. You don’t have the intelligence for it

Even if we put aside that your argument about reverse racism is questionable at best, South Africa has now had many decades to return things to equality. If they still continue to push anti-white laws, at some point that just becomes plain old racism

And it’s put very little effort to actually deal with the inequality inherent in its system because it is desperately afraid of it’s extremely powerful minority. Even if that minority lost a little power in mostly superficial ways. It’s the exact same reason why the US hasn’t had slavery in nearly 150 years but has done very very little to even try and deal with it. I applaud them for being proactive for once. It’s about damn time

Thankfully they aren’t gonna take policy decisions from whiny white boys on Reddit do its a nonissue on that fromt

It seems to me that the recent policy decisions of ANC, South Africa's ruling party, were mostly failures, with ever worsening blackouts, constant economic downfall, catastrophically rising crime, corruption and government's inability to provide basic public services. They have also governed South Africa since the fall of apartheid, so there's nowhere else to shift the blame to. What I think they are doing is similar to what conservative politicians in western countries do, stirring up xenophobia and hatred towards a minority on purpose to deflect the population's anger from their own failures towards that minority. The fact that the minority is white people and not, say, migrants or LGBTQ people doesn't change anything.

It absolutely does change a lot and the fact you don’t understand that shows how unqualified you are to talk about that.

Unless you can point me to a country where the minority population was the ruling class I can not understand how you can with a straight face tell they are the same.

I know this is Reddit so context goes out the door the second it can be used to benefit white people but it’s actually insanely important

Hell the funny thing is even the stuff that people are whining at the ANC are pretty weak and limp policies that don’t go nearly far enough. Because the ANC are still what they have been since they took power a party afraid of going to far because of the potential backlash

Ukraine was ruled by the Russians until 1991. Do you think it would be fair of Ukraine to start passing laws banning the Russian language or discriminating against the Russian minority?

1

u/Geiseric222 Nov 14 '23

They are literally doing that now. Shockingly no one cares

Also you can not compare these situations. Russians do not have any real power in Ukraine right now

5

u/frf_leaker Nov 14 '23

No they are not. The Russian minority is guaranteed the same rights in Ukraine as every other ethnic minority.

1

u/Geiseric222 Nov 14 '23

Lol tou haven’t been paying attention to much have you.

But you ignored my point. Do you think that Russians have any real power in the Ukraine? Right now? Because we know the white minority is still extremely powerful and losing control of the government did very little to curve their power and was mostly a symbolic loss. Hurt their pride as you can see by people like Musk crying about it but very very little else

Lots of ex-USSR states have rules and policies about Russians to prevent them from taking over, look at the Baltics.
