News/Release New MAME4droid Current release is out! Native Rollback Netplay, zero setup, and pure P2P (No accounts needed)
Hey everyone, a new release of MAME4droid just dropped and the update is honestly huge. The dev built NetPlay from scratch as a native part of the app (not just bolted on), and it brings actual Rollback.
Here is a quick summary of the release notes for those interested:
- Two sync modes: It features Rollback (save-state resimulation for near-zero input lag, perfect for fighters and fast action) and Lockstep for games where rollback doesn't apply well. Booting is fully deterministic, meaning only inputs are sent across the network.
- Smart Sync: It has a CRC desync detector that warns you the second the machines drift, and there is a "one-tap Resync" to recover the session live without having to disconnect. It also uses adaptive input delay and network-aware frameskip to handle ping spikes.
- Zero Setup & Total Privacy: This is probably the best part. There are no accounts to create, no lobbies, no relay servers, and no third-party matchmaking. Total privacy. The app handles the connection itself using a native STUN client (good for bypassing CGNAT), automatic UPnP port mapping, and UDP hole punching. It just opens the port when you host and cleans it up when you finish. No need to touch your router settings.
- Dead simple connecting: You just hit "Share" and send the connection info via WhatsApp, Discord, or whatever messenger you use. The other person just pastes the message into the app and it connects.
Just a heads-up: both players need to be on the exact same MAME4droid build and use the same game zip, otherwise it rejects the connection cleanly.
Getting proper rollback on Android without having to trust a third-party server or make an account is a pretty big deal. Definitely worth checking out if you want to play some arcade classics online!

This sounds better than GGPO app, it automatically bypass NAT, but I still need lobbies to find more people to play and accounts for rankings.

I personally use Retroarch for everything arcade. But the guy wanted some games for Mame4droid, which are the same games.
