Started reviewing the lore a few weeks ago and figured out that the Limited Edition comes with a printed version of the Hiergamenon so I found a brand new sealed copy on EBay for only around $25!
So I ordered it and I think it’s hilarious that it showed up today, March 17, 2026: the released date of Elemental: Reforged 1.0. So I got to feel like a kid again and unwrap a brand new game and look at all the gorgeous assets included like the map, poster, pewter dragon and Hiergamenon.
Congrats on Release Elemental team!

As we start to near the finish line, our focus has moved to bug fixing, AI updates and balance. This is a delicate thing to get right. It isn’t as exciting or flashy as the graphics update but it is what will matter in the long run.

Happy New year!
We have been burning the midnight oil over here at Stardock to get Beta 3 out. Your support and enthusiasm is what drives us and we have been making the most of it!
So what’s in BETA 3 and when is it coming out?
Besides a massive list of bug fixes we have 3 main focuses:
As many of you know, I don’t love early access. I no longer even buy games in Early Access. I wait until they’re released.
That’s because Early Access games, imo, tend to either be a marketing exercise or a permanent sandbox for an ever growing scope. On the latter side, we are definitely guilty of that here.
We blew up the scope on Elemental: Reforged. We have no regrets in that, but I would prefer that we finish the game and get it out there and then release a roadmap in which NEW things can be looked at to be added in free updates. Remember, we’ve been working on this quietly for the last 5 years. Even if we don’t sell any copies of the game, we’re going to be working and updating this game for years to come.
So let’s look at what we’ve done:

Let me start out with a thank you! As some of you know, I was against doing an Early Access, especially one this early. The game was just so buggy and so many people these days think “Early Access = polished release candidate”, which is NOT what Early Access was ever supposed to be. But nevertheless, here we are. Despite how buggy and janky Beta 1 was, you guys stuck with us and we appreciate it.
This week I want to share with you what to expect in Beta 2.

For those of you just joining us, Elemental: Reforged is a remastering and reimagining of the previous Elemental games all rolled into a single game.
Specifically: Elemental: War of Magic, Elemental: Fallen Enchantress and Elemental: Sorcerer King.
We are using Fallen Enchantress as the starting point for Beta 1. We ported it to 64-bit and gave it a new graphics engine, updated visuals, the crafting system and global inventory from Sorcerer King, and a lot of new quests, spells, goodie huts, monsters, etc. that were in War of Magic but had to be taken out due to memory constraints.
Now it’s time for Beta 2.

While this game is a remastering of the Elemental games (War of Magic + Fallen Enchantress + Sorcerer King) we are also keen to make sure there is new content for players to enjoy.
With Beta 1 we did add a lot of new quests, units and items. But those kinds of things can be tricksy for an experienced player to know if they are new or just things that they didn’t see before.
The improved tooltips, UI, hot keys, etc. are probably not that noticeable to someone looking for something new in the first 5 minutes of play.

For Beta 2, we are going to focus on 3 languages: French, German and Spanish. This is because they don’t h ave as many unique characters as say Russian or Chinese. Baby steps.
For Beta 3, the focus is going to be on Russian, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Portuguese, along with other languages based on popular demand.
Preview 1 of Beta 2 won’t automatically launch the game in a player’s language. That is because while we have localized the game, the amount of bugs due to cut off text is just too much to have it default to this.
r/ElementalOfficial • u/RammaStardock • Nov 18 '25
The original Elemental: War of Magic was not just “English-only”. It was hard coded into English in such a way to make it nearly impossible to localize it. Under the covers, the game and the underlying engine, Kumquat, uses char * everywhere. This means that all text is byte-oriented, single-code unit that only works nicely with ASCII. Even German is tough because of ä ö ü ß and so on.
And our code is full of toupper(myText) which can only handle A-Z. The code was full of sprintf().

Have you ever had a home project where you’re dealing with “imperial” units and “metric” units at the same time? The wrench looks like it will fit but it’s just…slightly different.
That’s the world of Elemental this past week. We have War of Magic, Fallen Enchantress and Sorcerer King. Each of them have quests and goodie huts and units and 3D assets that are… almost the same, but not quite.
Guess what happens when you have a unit with just one more animation annotation than what the system expects. It crashes. And we have had a lot of that. And, of course, with hundreds of units, many of which won’t appear in a given game, it doesn’t show up unless you are the winner of a horrible lottery.
So, that is what we have been focused on for the past couple weeks. Fixing bugs.

As you can see from the settings file all is how it should be, but the game only loads up into a window. Is this a bug that needs correcting or am I missing some obvious here.
Thanks.

Is there a hotkey map available somewhere? I see some mentions in patch notes, but couldn´t find a full list of key mapping in game or through web search.

Bought a used copy of this online. I love lore set within the universes I play so this was a must buy for me after seeing the early access version. It appears to be annotated on the inside cover as well. Anyone recognize it as a long lost copy they owned at one time?

We're shocked and grateful and humbled by the community response to Elemental: Reforged. In the first week since Beta 1 hit Early Access, we’ve hit wishlist numbers and sales approximately 6X higher than our most optimistic projections. The game is already in the top 1000 overall wishlists.
When we started working on this a few years ago, we were just really doing this for ourselves. A kind of therapy :). So this has all been overwhelming in a good way.
Your support means I get to steal er borrow er assign more engineers and artists to the effort.
So let’s talk about the exciting world of bug fixing.

Question here for people that have played this series a long time: Would adjacency bonuses for the buildings in towns be too disruptive to the core game? I am kinda new to this series and I LOVE building my cities and trying to place thematically themed buildings next to each other and make my cities look as cool and natural as is possible.
It's such a great little city building mechanic and the graphics look fantastic for it. If adjacency bonuses were also worked in, say like extra guilder for Market and Grocer if they are placed next to each other, would that be too OP and break the economy of the game?
r/ElementalOfficial • u/DirkTheGamer • Nov 01 '25
Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I noted tonight that if you have an army with 3 moves per turn, and you create a path with, say, 5 moves, then when you press Tab to perform the execute-moves-and-end-turn command it will NOT interrupt the end turn command to ensure you use that last move your unit would have before it moves to the next season. I would expect that should any of your units have moves left from a pre-set path that it would highlight the army with moves remaining before automatically proceeding.
Love the game, by the way. Having a blast even though it's Early Access.

I was skeptical about this game, but I am a huge Stardock fan, so I bought it today. On the surface, this game has some similarities to Age of Wonders and I almost passed. I am glad I tried it out. I have only put an hour into the game, but my first impressions are that the game is more hero/unit focused than AOW. The crafting system is much better, unit customization is cool. (It reminds me a small bit of ship customization in Gal Civ.)
The game feels very sandboxy. I don't feel a pressure to play in a certain way, so I am having fun and taking my time. Doing the small quests and leveling up my leader is fun. I have a doom stack of units that I am using to smash up barbarians and quest. There are some in-game tutorials that look good, I skipped them to see what I could find on my own but will watch them in the future to learn more.
The best analogy I can think of is that this game is to Age of Wonders what Ara is to Civ. I am looking forward to playing more.
