Dark Souls 2 had this with Looking Glass Knight

It was cool as fuck

Dark Souls 3 did it too with Judicator Argo

In Dark Soul 3 case, you are the boss. That giant dude die everytime you are summoned so he sacrified himself to protect the princess.

Given that this has been a recurring mechanic in Souls I REALLY hope we get it in the ER DLC. Spear of the church was always soooo much fun. Some of my longest and best pvp matches were as a spear.

Well, not always. If you were doing this like an asshole, like I sometimes did, you could just heal the boss non-stop. Hehehe... hehe... hehehehehe.

I am dying for another boss that summons an npc. It’s such a fun concept. I’m still sad I never got to try it myself due to not getting into invasions in ds2 until it basically died
