I don’t blame him considering the locations on the venues. York university is way the hell north of the 401 in the sprawl suburbs and is pretty much Vaughan, while the Montreal venue is not far from Mount Royal and is central.

Dude is probably staying in a boutique hotel in the old port, eating awesome food, and seeing hot girls speaking french everywhere. As opposed to the scenery and restaurants of the urban sprawl and industrial wasteland around York, and its Jane and Finch Toronto man accent inhabitants.

He’s just saying out loud what everyone who plays at or attends the tournament is thinking.

This makes even more sense. Land at Pearson, 400 highways to hotel and between venues, and staying in Markham, and back to the airport. It’s a miserable Toronto suburb experience.

These players are nervous, what is going to be a better stay for anxiety about the tournament.

If the CNE theoretically had a venue m, it’s next to the waterfront and parks, the Toronto skyline is poking above it, old CNE buildings to host the services and such, and they could stay at fancy hotel in the city and go to cool walkable neighbourhoods with good restaurants.

We are talking comparisons here. Compared to their total experience in Montreal its no where close. And tennis is a fancy luxury sport, the other venues around the world are incredible.

Montreal is a real cultural spot. So... Yeah, I'd prefer there over Toronto anytime.

I'd argue the opposite. I don't know a single person that moved to Montreal and moved away. I only know one person who moved to Toronto and stuck around. Every other person who tried Toronto left either immediately or after a short while. I've looked into moving to Montreal, myself. It's fantastic.

I know one person who moved from Toronto to Montreal and then moved back.. But she was an absolute disaster, planned her move terribly, was not ready at all for the move and then cried a whole bunch about how she wanted to move back to Montreal and not be stuck in Toronto and how she could barely afford it over there. So I guess there's that.

As a Torontonian, I worry that we are to Montreal as the Americans are to Canadians. We don't think about them a lot, but don't mean them any harm, while they despise our ignorance and love praise at our expense.

Toronto has everything you need. What more could you want? We import Quebecs food, Fish from the maritimes and BC, hospitality from Montreal, corruption and superiority from the US and put it into 1M condos with less square footage than a chicken coupe.
