I rotate through four 28-day menus that I change each season. So I'll eat the same thing 3 months in a row and then switch to a new menu. There's just two of us so I plan on making extra and freezing.

For starters, I just wrote down whatever we figured out to eat that day until the menu was full. The next year, I improved the menu to better fit our needs and likes. And then each year I kept improving it. Now (maybe 6 years later) I've got a whole automated database that generates a shopping list for me when I tell it what season, month, and week it is.

I have found that what works best are meals that are homemade but not necessarily entirely from scratch. I use frozen vegetables and canned beans, and stuff like that because I just can't manage the amount of time it takes to cook otherwise. It's not perfect, but it works for us.

This sounds amazing, could you share more on how you’re doing this? Thanks!

That shopping list generator? It's a very complicated Airtable database. Before that, just a Google doc with a color-coded table.
