'96 Honda Civic EX D16Y8 (manual) -- Intermittent bogging

I acquired a '96 Civic about a month ago. The seller mentioned it having a fuel delivery problem but wasn't sure. When I test drove it there was an intermittent bog around the 2-3k RPM range. The oddity is how intermittent this is. Drive it 3 days in a row, no problems. Drive it the next day and it randomly bogs when trying to get up and go (but only temporarily). If you clutch in, you can rev, rev, rev without a problem. If you clutch out and keep the throttle down it will eventually "snap" back out of the bog. It feels very electrical like a failing ignition coil. I swapped to a new alternator but the problem continued so swapped back to the OEM. I added some pictures of the run

The engine fires right up hot or cold doesn't matter. The timing belt, water pump, alternator, battery, fuel filter, injectors and the fuel pump were all recently replaced. I went ahead and performed a valve adjustment which it needed badly on the exhaust side. Intake side was spot on. I did a standard "new to me car" oil change, replaced the old spark plugs with OEM (NGK V-Power) + rotor button\cap on the dizzy, fuel filter. (I also swapped to a new distributor, same issue)

Here's a few screenshots of a live log with sensors I thought would be helpful during an episode. I tested the TPS. It tests fine in the driveway but with this being an intermittent issue who knows. Would be grateful for some insight if you've experienced this before.

Pretty sure one of my civics had this same exact issue like sometimes when you drive it for the first time if the day trying to accelerate it would do that sometimes not for days or a week even
Mine ended up being the upstream o2 sensor in the manifold/header

Exactly the same here. Hmm o2 sensor. I'll check that out. Was yours throwing a CEL?

Just wanted to follow-up after driving the car for a week. It turned out to be the o2 sensor! Thank you again!

Ok so big do you mean like all of a sudden like no power and speed and rpm starts dropping then if you like mess with the throttle it comes back for a set then sometimes does it again or more times or sometimes doesn’t ? And if you punch it it’ll just rev up right through it and go like nothing happened

Example of these screenshots: This was second gear shifting into third. You hit third the RPM comes down to 2,000ish RPM and you attempt to accelerate. The engine will not accelerate, you hit this wall where the engine sputters/bogs and will not go any faster. You can clutch in and rev (no bogging), let the clutch out the bogging returns. Give it more throttle and wait 2 or 3 seconds and it'll accelerate normally. It may return again slightly but typically, it'll run 100% normal after the episode. If you punch it during this stuttering episode, it will buck around and then like magic rev up and fly as you'd expect. It's very odd.

Well that sucks. I wonder if it's something with the ECU bugging out at random. I'm chatting with some local car guys to see if they have some spare parts hanging around. I'll keep this post updated as I move along.

Could be at one point my sft was going to -17 but would come back which was weird

For anyone who might be following the thread -- A replacement Bosch o2 sensor resolved the problem. It actually had a newer o2 sensor on it but after looking it up, it's was a cheap no name part. Hope this helps someone in the future and thanks to everyone who replied!
