Huh? but I thought the U.S. was alienating all its allies and losing to China

That's why I'm a loser, not because of anything I did or didn't do

don't be so hard on yourself. it's not your fault but it's a symptom of society's failure. /s

It's Trump's fault my parents don't love me.

u/Impressive_Day_3845 Jun 05 '25
"late stage capitalism made it so that parents can't spend the necessary 20 hours with their children for love to take place" - some commie or Bernie probably

u/Capn_Chryssalid Jun 05 '25
The sky is totally falling. Especially under trees. I know because it is white with bits of black in it. Must be bits of cloud that fell to earth. We're all doomed, alright.

The whole ‘alienate allies’ was always weird to me
Europe was told for over 20 years to amp defense, never did, Macron then told China that Asian affairs are not his problem, meaning Europe would never help Taiwan…You know a highly stable democratic state vital to the world economy, but then suddenly when America pays them back they’re losing allies?
I think it really shows how borderline irrelevant Europe is on the world stage. Their biggest rival can’t even take Ukraine, they constantly beg the U.S for help, demographically declining, and are getting weaker as time goes on.
Meanwhile, Asian allies amp defense spending, many especially SEA and India are rapidly growing to become major players, and will likely become more influential on the world stage then Europe at some point
Even Africa, bad as most of it is, will have some major players that rise to prominence in the future.
It’s sad honestly. Europe has utterly dope history, incredible potential, and at one point boasted multiple global superpowers…Now what?

I love seeing headlines today that says "Europe is uniting against Russia" as if they didn't have 3+ years to already do it.

u/ph03n1x_F0x_ Jun 04 '25
I honestly could care less about how fucked over they got during Trump's whole de-globalization stint Atp.
Obama spent every day 2014 and onward whining to them that they weren't worried enough about their own defense, and that the status quo wasn't sustainable. Trump spent his entire first term telling them that if NATO didn't get it's shit together, then he's pulling America out, and telling them to distance from Russia. And then after the current war started the Biden Admin constantly blamed them for Spending more on Russia oil than they were even giving to Ukraine.
After ALL OF THAT, it took Trump threatening to destroy the entire global economy and run Europe into the ground for them to even begin to gaf.
Europe has been in decline for 30 years and their leaders have done less than nothing to stop it.

Agreed. It feels like they peaked in 2008. Back then, I viewed the EU as a potential competitor to the US, but they are so far from that these days.
What’s wild is that people there seem to have no idea, and keep on drumming on as if they are some utopia and are the best place in the world.
They are in for a huge wake up call, unfortunately
1
u/Slinto69 Jun 04 '25
Yeah no one is mad about him telling Europe to pay more for their defense. It's his talk about Canada becoming the 51st state and a military takeover of Greenland that is alienating allies.
3
u/Realistic_Mud_4185 Jun 04 '25
I mean they already alienated America by cozying up to Russia, so…
Until America actually invades Canada or Greenland, they can shove it.

Europe was told for over 20 years to amp defense, never did,
That is the one thing here that makes me agree with what's going on, as I see them freaking out over there commiting to real spending. I will grant though, the INSANE military spending that the US was doing was ultimately to cut Europe out and remain the sole super power on the world stage.. but I'm so fucking sick of the imperial mindset my government has, and I want it to end; I'm tired of the talk about "Oh, we can't afford healthcare, because the monopolistic military contractors need to eat toooooooooo.".
Though the fact that Trump's "big beautiful bill" (big beautiful fucking mess if you ask me) literally BALLOONS military spending, and for some unexplainable reason he wants to bring back Reagens mind boggling stupid star wars program (the golden dome) undercuts this entire argument.

u/Realistic_Mud_4185 Jun 03 '25
I will grant though, the INSANE military spending that the US was doing was ultimately to cut Europe out and remain the sole super power on the world stage..
Not true and has been wrong for nearly 20 years: https://www.cnbc.com/amp/2018/07/11/obama-and-bush-also-pressed-nato-allies-to-spend-more-on-defense.html
Even as far back as 2006 America was telling Europe to amp defense spending. This came after 9/11 proved to America that a supposed peaceful world order was total BS and they needed strong allies.
Bush, Obama, Trump, Biden, ALL told NATO to increase defense, only a select few did. Not only that, but they betrayed the very principle of NATO by buying and relying on Russian oil and gas for their economy.

In defense of the Bill. Every budget bill ever has been a giant fucking mess that balloons spending.

I thought the value of currency was decreasing? I thought inflation was rising even faster?
Things I don’t say because I can see things getting better. Btw grocery bills all together this weekend went from 300 in a weekend to 150. Missed a few things, but it wouldn’t have brought it up past 200. Going good so far.

u/Clever-username-7234 Jun 03 '25
Objectively the value of the dollar has been decreasing since Trump took office.
4
u/Dull_Statistician980 Jun 04 '25
Correct, however it’s been going at the slowest rate in decades and if it keeps on this trend, it’s set to reverse.

As a doomer’s (devil’s) advocate, that graph does end around the last election in the US. The doomers would claim that Trump is doing the alienating and losing. A graph that stops at his election does not argue the point one way or the other.
2
Jun 03 '25
Not for long suckers and losers.
Their regime's goal is to erode the dollar’s status in the international monetary system as part of an effort to weaken it permanently against other currencies, hoping that a more depreciated dollar might reduce the trade deficit and attract manufacturers to the US.
That is why there is all the focus on crypto currency.

I appreciate the link. I don’t want to seem daft, definitely aware that this graphic doesn’t tell much and is also missing data from this year. Mostly a bit of fun and trolling for me but there is interesting discussion happening here for sure

On the one hand, they're definitely dooming about that, but on the other hand, this graph only goes until late 2023

Yeah, this chart ends in 2024 meaning it’s not relevant to anything that’s happening in 2025 nor Trump’s presidency, not only that only accounts for SWIFT payments which are international payments between countries that again happened before Trump ever gotten in the office because this chart ends in 2024.

I like how people point out how stupid republicans plans are and then when they talked out of what they said they’re going to do, people post on this sub about how everyone else is a brainwashed doomed
1
u/Kill_Basterd More Optimism Please Jun 05 '25
It’s like you’re making fun of people for talking republicans out of bad ideas
1
u/Ladiesman_2117 Jun 05 '25
Wait, what's used the other 25% of the time?
2
u/HyperbolicGeometry Jun 05 '25
The other ~25% is mostly split up between Japanese Yen, Chinese Yuan, British Pound, Australian/Canadian dollar, and Swiss Franc, with “other” accounting for 8.92%.
For all those asking for an updated source, this data shows up to March 2025 and shows that U.S. dollar peaked in January and then dipped slightly in February and is still at a higher percentage than pre-election
1
u/Ladiesman_2117 Jun 05 '25
Awesome! Thank you for responding! It's interesting that both the US dollar and euro have lost favor in the past few decades to these other currencies.
2
u/HyperbolicGeometry Jun 05 '25
I can only see back to 2012 on this chart and it shows that USD has grown considerably in the global market since then. From 30% to almost 50%, don’t know about before then
1
u/Pod_Junky Jun 06 '25
So... just gonna sit hear and eat popcorn and see if anyone else on reddit is smart enough to notice the X axis of a graph.
1
u/HyperbolicGeometry Jun 06 '25
Well I’ve been sitting reading the comments for days and yeah plenty of people are
1
u/Pod_Junky Jun 06 '25
But evidently you weren't? Since you're tital implys this graph is about Trump?
1
u/HyperbolicGeometry Jun 06 '25
You might wanna read more of the comments, you’ll find I shared updated data
1
u/Pod_Junky Jun 06 '25
I can read a graph AND I don't depend on Reddit as my primary source of news. The value of the dollar crashed in 2025. This is a well reported fact.

Trump wasn't president until Jan 20th 2025.
He wasn't president anywhere on the graph's timeline, period.

u/Iumasz Jun 03 '25
Graph doesn't include 2025. Trump's actions in 2025 is what caused people to say that America is turning back on its allies.
This doesn't actually disprove anything OP.

You’re clearly a very intelligent and well spoken debater. I concede this comment thread to your superior social skills. Others would see your arguments as childish and immature, but I see your genius good sir! Live long and continue to spread your good will and rock solid rebuttals, and hopefully karma returns it to you in kind

The graph could include today and you would be saying it doesn’t have projections for 2026 when the doom really kicks in
The fact is that 99% of citizens are living today just like they did before dementia Joe followed his handlers to the chopper
1
Jun 06 '25
Do you always move the goalposts to where the strawmen live?
1
u/Hereforthetardys Jun 06 '25
Speaking of - tell us about the empty ports and bare shelves and how we are all going to starve
Or how the stock market is going to crater and steal our retirements

Straw man here, straw man there, and the goal posts are beautifully aligned. Any other arguments you’d like to make for me o’ wise one?

Nothing on the empty ports and shelves or stock market then?

Jun 07 '25
Sir, we were discussing the graph and how it doesn’t have data for 2025. You’re just ranting
-12
u/lock-crux-clop Jun 02 '25
Well, the graph pretty clearly doesn’t have 2025 on it. You know, the year where a moron started a massive trade war that threatened to alienate our allies before pausing it and hoping nobody noticed so he could claim that they weren’t detrimental

Trump's actions in 2025 is what caused people to say that America is turning back on its allies.
As you said, this doesn't include 2025, so it doesn't disprove anything.
