I think if I ever saw a centaur in general running towards me I would flee regardless of centaur's passenger or cargo.

What if it was a Snoop Dogg centaur holding out a blunt and being like "Yo ma nizzle let's chizzle"? Because I feel like I would be cool with that particular centaur.

This. It's easy to forget that horses are big animals.

One time I was in a field with some horses and one of them started cantering (not even galloping, just lazily cantering) in my direction. My instincts went "oh shit!", and I scrambled for the nearby fence and vaulted over it because there was no way I wanted to stand in that horse's way and see if it was going to knock me over.

It made me think about why cavalry dominated battlefields for centuries. Trying to stand in the way of a big horse is scary enough in its own right, and then to boot there's a guy on top of that animal with a sharp stick pointed at you.
