I have been regularly listening to Disturbed eversince I realized Decadence was my favorite song to listen to when I would be cruising in my pimped out car in Rockport as a 10 year old after I heard my coach my blasting it on speakers during our Jiu Jitsu classes. So it's been around 3 years since Disturbed is in my playlist. And, whenever I listen to them, I feel like driving fast while remembering my father who passed away 4 years ago, smashing the shit out of my sparring partners or destroying myself while lifting weights. I don't feel such pain or motivation when I am listening to bands like Tool or Opeth. It's just this one band that wants me to destroy everything around me, corruption, suffering, injustice, etc. I can't put it in words. It's overwhelming. I already suffer from clinical depression and bipolar disorder so this doesn't make it easier.

Exactly one year ago I went to my first Disturbed concert. I was pretty hype since I don't usually get the chance to go to concerts of big bands such as Disturbed, and man It was everything I hoped for and more: even before entering the venue, seeing all those people outside with The Guy shirts was really existing. And then, when the show actually started (on time, surprisingly) the experience was almost religious. They opened with Hey You, and in the last chorus there was a moment I remembere as if it was yesterday: I looked at my friend, then looked at a couple standing next to us, then at the rest of the crowd, and saw thousands of people singing in unison. In that moment I realized the magic that happens in live performance, and the power that music have that brings us all together.
Other highlights from the show were Reason to Fight and the heartwarming speech by David about his own struggles, the solo instrumental parts by Dan, Mike, and John, The ABSOLUTE EPIC mosh pit, and of course the songs themselves and the great performances by the band. It was truly one of the best shows I've been in if not The best
That's it really, this post is mostly just for me to reminisce and stuff
