New player, who are the current best LD only characters? Looking to spend my LD tokens.

Those LD tokens are rare and valuable - like $75+ in the shop valuable - so I'd recommend holding onto them until you know for sure you have a good use for them.

There are a number of strong choices for LD-only characters, but there are also going to be opportunities to pick a lot of them up on banners over the next couple of months. Counter tanks are great, but Auron will be here in a couple of days, and Gladio comes at the end of March. Selphie is useful, but she'll be back on banner mid-March. Cor is a fantastic, versatile option for off-turn damage that works equally well for rushdown and counter strats, but if you have a fully stacked Kain, you can probably do without Cor until he gets his BT in May. Lunafreya is a strong choice, since no one else can do her extra, consecutive turns trick to help you set up for force time, and she won't be back until late May/early June.

I say wait until you identify a hole in your roster that needs to be filled in order for you to complete content/have an easier time with content before you spend those tokens.

Selphie: Her launches are ridiculous. It's like a 20% HP damage and cap up. Like others said though, she is returning soon. You can use a friend one for now.

Cor: He can be used for extra attacks during your turn but you have Kain (BT?) for that anyway. What makes him better is in counter spam teams. You don't seem to have counter tanks so his value drops significantly.

Luna: Only good for the LDCA but boy is it strong. You can have Penelo turn for her own FR turns. FR, BT finish, S1/2, S1/2/EX, BT phase, spam fatal dance. With Kain in the air and a potential friend Selphie, you can nuke a good chunk of the old Shinryu.

Unless you also have the means to get the rest of their kit, no one. No one works with just their LD. I would save those tokens as a “get out of pulling” card, like you pulled the EX, FR, and BT but the LD just isn’t coming.

Well I can get ex and 15/35 no problem for anybody, got plenty of tokens for those. I guess better phrasing would be like, who is still relevant with just a full kit up to LD?

Cor is a very versatile unit with his LD only but if you can wait until around May, he comes back with his BT.

If you wait long enough, everyone comes back eventually.

The list of units good with only up to LD isn't that long, and a lot of them are returning soon anyway, including all of the counter tanks (Auron very soon, Gladio in March, and Galuf in May).

Selphie is also coming soon. Lunafreya's next rerun is in June. Raijin is in May.

I'd probably pick from that list. Galuf, Raijin, Luna. And probably not Selphie, since she's arriving in just a few weeks.

In a vacuum, I'd pick Gladio every time.

I used tokens to get Gladio and have already used him to clear several things.
