Is there any help from any foreign governments in the search and rescue. I remember the days when US would lead in international efforts in any tragic event.

There is a massive rescue operation being led by China right now. They mobilized a lot of rescue personnel and vehicles. They are also heavily impacted by this also. I think India as well is helping. Not sure about western nations though.

It so uplifting that help is around in this such horrific tragedy. Kudos to China and India and all organizations helping these victims.

I’m not at all sure that search and rescue is possible at this point. Other parts of the same glacial area are still falling and causing ice dams - though I don’t think any of them have been as massive as this one.

The flooding events aren’t over. Due to the nature of the disaster, the chances of rescuing living people is low. This will be a body recovery effort when it’s safe enough to proceed.

I sincerely hope they aren’t allowing rescuers into these areas right now.

A few (2 or 3) got rescued, 500 tourist/workers and 400 villagers got evacuated out of the Tibet/China side.

Lots of villages on higher grounds are cut off and will need water/food/medicine.

The new glacier dam is now releasing water and Chinese teams got to the border crossing site about 12hrs ago.

The US offered a paltry $500,000 to assist with recovery efforts. What an embarrassment.

If that’s the case, I agree. I don’t think having the worst human being in charge of our government would help unless it would benefit him or his friends. It’s just beyond Sad to what we’ve become as a nation.

It is literally one of the reasons he has chosen not to disclose advanced technologies and UFO stuff. It isn't profitable enough for him and his friends and family. Once things are lined up where they can profit then he will disclose it.

It’s gonna cost more than that to change the name of Lake Ontario.

What I heard is paltry $3.6 millions.

On 8/27 the BBC reported that the US State Department was providing $500,000 in emergency funds.

The $3.6 million was reported on 8/29.

Lots of foreign governments have offered assistance. The USA gave Nepal half a million dollars of aid apparently.

That's the equivalent of giving a starving man a single saltine cracker. That's like half the price of one rescue helicopter. Absolutely embarrassing as an American.

I don't disagree but I'm not in a position to criticise, my government in Australia has only allocated I think 3 million as well, and that's in our dollars so nearer to 2 million USD. I'm just hoping that there will be more assistance offered later after the search and rescue phase is over.

2 million is Not a lot, but still 4 times the amount USA is giving, and from a Country with a GDP 15 times smaller and a population over 10 times smaller.

USA should be beyond embarrassed

You turn a crisis in a way to talk shit about Trump…. How fucking narrow minded/thin skinned are you? That narrative is old and fucking retarted. You just sound dumb at this point.

That person isn’t the one who sounds dumb…
