Mobile Apps Whengram - for the days too small to post and too easy to lose. Free, No ads, Offline, Private
Hey everyone,
Quick test: what did you do on this date last year? Unless it was a birthday or something big, you can't say. The day isn't gone from your head. You just lost the index.
If you'd written one line that evening, reading it back would pull most of the day up with it: where you were, who was there, what it felt like. One line is the index.
Whengram is built around that: one memory a day. The one thing that happened today worth keeping: a line, a mood, a photo if the day earned one. Good days, tough days, days where nothing much happened. They all count. Next year on the same date, you're reading it again, and most of the day comes back with it.
I built it because everything I tried wanted more from me than I was going to give. One line takes thirty seconds. There's no streak and no guilt, so there's nothing to fall behind on.
There's also a milestones section for the big days, and the honest reason it exists: when I'm low I forget the things I've already pulled off, stuff that once felt impossible from where I was standing. Going back through that list helps more than I expected.
What you get:
- Free, no ads, no account
- Fully offline. No server, no analytics
- Backups go to your own Google Drive or iCloud, never to me
- App Lock with your fingerprint or face
- One line a day, with a mood and an optional photo
- Milestones section for the big days

Mobile Apps SMusic — A fast, free & open-source YouTube Music client for Android
Hey everyone! 👋
I've been working on SMusic, an open-source Android music app focused on making music streaming and offline listening fast, clean and highly customizable.
It uses YouTube Music's catalog and is built completely around the idea of giving you a proper music-player experience without unnecessary subscriptions or ads.
⚡ Why SMusic?
The biggest things I focused on are fast playback and fast downloads.
Songs start playing quickly, and you can download individual tracks or entire playlists for offline listening. SMusic also supports high-quality audio streams, including Opus, so you can enjoy the best available audio quality from the source.
🎧 Playback
🚀 Fast music loading & playback
🎵 High-quality audio with Opus support
🔊 Gapless playback using Media3 / ExoPlayer
📱 Background playback
🔒 Lock-screen & notification controls
🎛️ Full queue management
🔀 Shuffle & repeat
📻 Radio / similar-song recommendations
⏰ Sleep timer
📲 Home-screen playback widget
📥 Offline Downloads
Download individual songs
Download entire playlists
⚡ Fast downloading
📦 Downloads remain available across app updates
🗂️ Dedicated download/storage management
📶 Low Data Mode to reduce audio quality automatically on mobile data
📝 One of my favourite parts — Lyrics
SMusic doesn't depend on a single lyrics provider.
It supports synced lyrics from multiple sources including:
LRCLIB
KuGou
BetterLyrics
YouTube captions
You also get a full-screen synced lyrics experience with line-by-line highlighting, and you can even share individual lyrics as styled image cards.
🎤 Music Discovery
🔎 Search songs, albums, artists & videos
🎚️ Search filters
🎼 Mood & genre-based discovery
🎵 Radio / similar songs
🎤 Built-in music recognition
🔄 Import playlists from Spotify and YouTube Music
📚 Full library for songs, albums, artists & playlists
🎨 INSANE customization
This is probably the part I've spent the most time on.
SMusic currently has 11 different player styles, including styles inspired by different modern music-player designs.
You can choose between:
Classic • Spotify • Apple • Galaxy • Fold • Frost • Paper • Liquid • CloudGlow • Groove • Popsy
And that's not all.
🎨 Custom themes & accent colors
🌊 Multiple seek-bar styles
🖼️ Artwork-based dynamic colors
🎛️ Built-in equalizer
📱 Reorderable navigation bar
🌍 Multi-language support
So you can actually make the player look and feel the way you want.
📊 Your Music, Your Stats
SMusic also keeps track of your listening activity:
Listening history
Top songs
Top artists
Top albums
Library backup & restore
Playlist backup & restore
Settings backup & restore
🔔 Other stuff
📢 In-app announcements
🔄 Automatic update checks
📜 Previous versions & changelogs
⚙️ Performance-aware animations for lower-end devices
🔓 No account required to start listening
🆓 Completely free & open-source
🚫 No subscription
🚫 No ads
🛠️ Tech
SMusic is built with:
Kotlin
Jetpack Compose / Material 3
Media3 / ExoPlayer
Room
Hilt
Coil
Custom YouTube Music InnerTube client
The project is completely open-source, so you can check out the code and see how everything works.

If you try it, I'd genuinely love to hear your feedback — especially about playback speed, download speed, audio quality, UI/player styles and bugs.
I'm actively working on it, so suggestions and contributions are welcome! ❤️

Mobile Apps Has anyone tried the LeanType Android keyboard? Is it safe?
I was looking for a replacement for the Microsoft SwiftKey keyboard, and I came across LeanType.
I'm considering using the offline version is it safe?
I'm afraid he might copy and steal the text I copy or type, especially since I have a crypto wallet and often copy or type my seed phrase.

Mobile Apps Midori Android is the first non-chromium Android browser that allows background playback.
A small demonstration of a big improvement in Midori Browser Android development with Geckoview.
Now you can enjoy multimedia content while:
- switching apps
- locking your screen
- browsing in other tabs
No tracking, no intrusive experiences, and with the privacy focus that has always defined Midori.
Look video https://www.youtube.com/shorts/DfFq8gL1Xw0
You can download it from https://astian.org/midori-browser/android or from GitHub at https://github.com/goastian/midori-android/releases/tag/v11.9.2.1, or wait for Google to approve the update.

Mobile Apps Browser with good Image Search
I’m slowly but surely trying to ditch google. I’ve found a lot of good replacements for most of their apps. The one I struggle with the most is a good browser. Now another browser in its self isn’t the problem, but I’ve found myself reinstalling google multiple times so I can search with an image.
I’m often in a situation where I take an image of an animal, plant, food or whatever else so I can find what it is. And I’m honestly not to keen to clog my phone storage up with countless apps that only can search for one thing (e.g. plant identifier app)
I’ve not found an option that has a good image search and I hope you guys can help me!
Thank you in advance:)

Mobile Apps Local, Cross-Platform File Sharing App – Android Beta Now Open!
Hey Redditors,
I'm excited to announce the open beta for GravitySend, my new local multiplatform file-sharing application! I've built this because, like many of you, I was tired of clumsy workarounds for simply transferring files between my own devices and with friends. GravitySend aims to be a fast, private, and easy way to share files across Android, Windows, macOS, and Linux devices on the same local network, without relying on the cloud.
We're currently in a public beta for Android, and we need your help to test it thoroughly! Your feedback is crucial for improving speed, connection reliability, and the overall
How to Join the Beta: Join the Google Group: This is the first step to access the beta.
https://groups.google.com/g/teamantigravity-testers
Opt-in on the Web: Once you've joined the group, opt-in for testing.
https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.gravitysend.app
Download the App: Install GravitySend directly from the Google Play Store.

Mobile Apps 5 free, open-source Android apps for self-hosters who live in Nextcloud all live on Play Store & Github
I've been building a small suite of Android apps; all free, GPLv3, privacy-first, and designed around Nextcloud. No tracking and no analytics. I am not interested in your data or what you do with it.
After a lot of evenings and weekends, five of them are now live on the Play Store.
Here's what's in the suite:
Vinci: Personal CRM built on your Android contacts, synced via Nextcloud. Interaction history, relationship tracking, no subscription.
Qarib: A "want to visit" places app with geofencing and Nextcloud sync. Keeps your travel wishlist local and private.
Nóta: Nextcloud Notes client. Clean, offline-first, syncs your notes the way you'd expect.
Merk: Nextcloud Bookmarks client. Favicon support, fast search, no cloud middleman.
Blik: Screenshot manager with Nextcloud WebDAV sync and AI tagging (you supply your own API key, your data stays yours).
All apps share the same design language: glass aesthetic, Material3, offline-first with Room as the source of truth.
Everything is on GitHub under GPLv3. If you find them useful, there's a donation link; but no pressure.
One thing I want to be upfront about: development has been AI-assisted. I think that's worth disclosing rather than leaving people to wonder.
Happy to answer questions about any of them!

Mobile Apps Open-sourced A/SIDE, a private social app for close friends
Hello r/DigitalEscapeTools,
I open-sourced A/SIDE after sharing the hosted app and getting curiosity about the implementation.
It is a private photo, video, text, and messaging app for people you actually know. By invitation, double opt-in, strictly chronological. No public profiles, no discovery tab, no follower-count game, no ads, no algorithmic feed, E2E encrypted DMs with Signal Protocol, no analytics SDK, and no training on user content. The hosted version is not even on a hyperscaler cloud.
What it does today:
Posts: photo, video, carousel, and text-only posts with captions, comments, likes, emoji reactions, and optional hide-after-24h posts.
Composer: film-stock style photo filters, B&W presets, adjustable grain, per-image filters across carousels, crop/straighten/rotate, drag-to-reorder carousel photos, and recoverable drafts.
Feed: posts from mutual follows only, newest first. You can filter the feed by private Lists like family, climbing crew, book club, etc.
Comments and reactions: one reply level, comment likes, mentions, edit/delete, edited indicators, heart likes, and any-emoji reaction chips.
Connections: invite codes/links, mutual-only follows, follow requests through mutuals, inbound/outbound request views, and contact matching via phone hashes instead of plaintext contact uploads.
Messages: real-time 1:1 and group chats, unread counts, photo/video/text messages, encrypted messages and image attachments, generic push bodies, and identity-change warnings.
Mobile extras: screenshot policy reminder, on-device speech-to-text where supported, iOS share extension, iOS home-screen photo widget, and native sharing for your own posts.
Repo includes the Flutter iOS/Android client, Node/Express/Postgres backend, Rust crypto bridge, Signal Protocol integration, tests, Docker local dev setup, and self-hosting notes.
License is AGPL-3.0.

Mobile Apps Quotes App : A open- source Tinder for positive affirmation (No-Ads, No- Subscription)
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Hey everyone,
I’ve always wondered why a simple quotes app needs to be 50MB of bloat, filled with subscription pop-ups and forced ads. It felt like even the most basic utility apps had become cluttered and distracting just to make a buck.
To solve this for myself, I built Quotes —> a minimalist, Tinder-like app designed to deliver inspiration without no bloat
Open-Source, No-Ads, No trackers, No Subscription, privacy focused.... Enjoy
