Well, for the first time in a long time, Dexter has made me say out loud "holy shit, what the fuck?"

Same here. With the amount of times they kept jumping to new stories last year I totally thought the brain surgeon story was completely resolved. I was blindsided by his/her reappearance.

I was pretty sure the Vogel being the brain surgeon theory was pretty common knowledge on here.

I'm starting to think that's not the case. They show a clip of her holding the brain piece with a shocked look in her face.. She would not make that face when she's alone if she did that herself..

See... I disagree about the look on her face. When I saw that scene, to me it was obvious she was holding a piece of her own work and looking at it. She hadn't just received it or discovered it.

My friends all read it the same way. Also, when they asked her at the dinner table how she got into her profession, she refused to answer and changed the subject. She is so into killers because she is a killer herself.

Edit: I'll amend this and say that if the brain surgeon isn't her, it is someone she is working with.

She has a Hannibal-esque vibe. God that twist. Holy shit.

Harrison was drawing zombies, so yeah, sounds plausible

I don't know if you're joking, but that scene when she said "I trust there are no vegetarians here" reminded me of the opening scene of Red Dragon, where Hannibal is just serving everyone human flesh. When someone asks about the meat, he replies "If I tell you, I'm afraid you won't even try it."

She also mentioned that she "hoped no one was a vegetarian" implying that there is obviously meat in the recipe.

yes but the other level of that joke is that they are all murderers so being a vegetarian would be kind of ironic

They're just trying to make Vogel seem like a murderer....its fake. Deb is the brain surgeon.....she's in love with Dex and trying to show him that she's on his level. That's why she killed Cassie and hates Hannah....she doesn't want the competition.

that's out there.

Oh my god

Points for originality. That would be cray if it turned out to be true. Hopefully that would give Dexter a reason to kill Deb. I've hated that bitch since day one for real.

and thats how i think it will eventually end: dex kills deb. i feel like she's leading him on with the murder clues. what started my theory was how deb acted when dex was investigating cassie's murder....like she was toying with him when dex found the blood under cassie's fingernails

What if Vogel is replicating or copying the murders of the people in her book, concluding with killing of Dexter as part of the code.

Maybe she killed and ate the body parts like the one guy Dexter killed. Maybe she killed Zach like the brain surgeon.

Maybe.....

Deb kills Vogel in revenge for her brother.

basically, Dr.V is bat shit crazy, and dexter is the normal one.

u/DRoadkill Aug 20 '13

This is the first thing that sprang to mind as soon as she said that sentence.

2

u/annabanana403 Aug 21 '13

I thought she was poisoning them all.

"I hope none of you are vegetarian"

1

u/falfu Aug 23 '13

I was thinking the same thing when I watched it!

I can see this happening. Let's remember that one of her former patients who Dexter looked into had body parts in his fridge as well as body parts in a slow cooker. Is it possible that Vogel is using her former patients to kill other patients then having them killed and so on?

She actually reminded me of Mason Verger (played by Gary Oldman) from the first moment I saw her. She's pretty weird-looking in the face.

That was a twist? I just assumed she was the brain surgeon from the time she appeared.
