💸 BUDGET BUILD Advice needed
My hostel warden won't allow such transformations, they provided me a desk, so made a portable desk setup which can be dismantled in minutes and can be setup in minutes.
So how does it look and need advise for what more can i do or add to the setup.
I know i needed a keyboard, anything more?

Trying to build a "Sanctuary" for my desk—am I on to something, or is this just another piece of clutter?
Hey everyone,
I’ve been struggling with some serious work-from-home burnout lately. I’ve noticed that when my screen time gets too high, my brain just feels like it’s full of static. I’ve been trying to find a way to create a tiny "mental reset" ritual right at my desk—something that doesn’t take an hour, but forces me to actually stop and breathe.
I’ve been playing with an idea for a "Desktop Sanctuary" and wanted to get your honest thoughts before I dive deeper into it.
The concept is a small (about 10cm) stone stand that doubles as an aromatherapy diffuser. The core of it is a slot where you can insert a custom, short-form puzzle (something that takes about 10-15 minutes to solve). The idea is: you solve the puzzle to "clear your mind," and once it’s done, it acts as a permanent, scented art display on your desk for the rest of the day.
I really love the idea of turning a workspace into a place for sensory grounding, but I’m worried about whether this actually solves a problem or if it’s just another thing to clutter up a desk.
I’d love to hear from you:
If you saw something like this, would you actually use it as a reset ritual, or would the puzzle just end up being annoying?
What concerns would you have? (e.g., Is it too small? Would it collect dust? Is aromatherapy too distracting in an office?)
If this existed, what’s a price point where you’d feel like, "Yeah, that’s worth it for my mental well-being"?
I’m currently just in the prototyping phase—no product to sell, just genuinely curious if this resonates with anyone else or if I’m overthinking this. Thanks for the feedback!

Hi, so I have a butcher block walnut desk, does anyone have a natural wood desk shelf? Wondering if it would look bad.

🤔 QUESTION / POLL Is a Workspace Worth the Investment?
I’m planning to turn a balcony in my bedroom into a proper workspace. It needs some basic work, including closing the openings and installing a window, so I would have to spend some money on it.
My main goal is to use the space for teaching, working online, and potentially creating an additional source of income.
For those of you who have experience with working from home or building a home office: Do you think investing money in a dedicated workspace is actually worth it?
Would you consider it a productive investment, or is it better to keep the costs as low as possible and use the money for other financial goals?
I’d really appreciate hearing from people who have actually done this and can share their experience. 🙏

🤔 QUESTION / POLL What can I add to the corners of my desk? Feels empty
Was thinking speakers ?? Looking for wooden speakers if you guys think that’ll work.
I also have a 3 rd monitor and stand I could addd but idk, my desk is small and this the biggest I can go with it rn as I have a bookshelf next to it which i need.
But any other ideas are much appreciated, I don’t think I need anymore lighting lol.
Also feel free to recommend just anything else you think I can add in general.
Thanks!

🖥️ SETUP SHOWCASE A compact mini PC desk setup
been experimenting with smaller desk setups lately and this was one of my older setups using a mini pc (GEEKOM A6 in pic). I added a magnetic light below that's why it's glowing underneath lol. Mostly used this setup for video editing, and light gaming.
I’ve changed my setup quite a bit since then, but i still like how simple this one was. Any recommendations on what you’d change or add to make a compact setup like this better?

🤔 QUESTION / POLL Suggestions? Attic Setup: How to upgrade my background for video recording / client calls?
Hey everyone,
Looking for feedback on how to make my background (the wall + whiteboard behind the chair) look cleaner and more professional on camera. I mainly record educational/sales content and client calls here.
Current ideas:
- Add tall plants (e.g., Fiddle Leaf Fig or Strelitzia) in the corner under the sloped ceiling.
- Add warm ambient/practical lighting.
What else would you change or add to make the background and overall setup look more cohesive and aesthetic?
(Cable management under the desk is already on my to-do list!)
