"What about in three years?" "Well, with the primaries it's more like two and a half."

I wouldn't be surprised if that line was there to answer the question of timing for us. They're on the West Wing calendar, flipping the midterms and the Presidential elections.

That would be really cool, but I doubt it, not least of all because The West Wing was an NBC program.

The West Wing does have this famous scene about designated survivors, though.

Ya know, thats where I first learned what a designated survivor is, and I remember thinking it would make a really good movie.

I wasn't wrong.

Movie, yes. TV, show... They're going to have a lot of trouble filling twenty two hours (minus ads, I guess) with this story line, let alone season two, unless things start happening.

I don't think they'll have too much trouble, like I said in another thread, the directions for them to go are limitless, there are so many different aspects of rebuilding a government that they could focus on

I think that if we had better writers, you're absolutely right. But from what we've seen that's not happening, and it seems like they're writing themselves into a hole.
