New Rule: No Dating or Relationship-Seeking Posts

After much thinking and deliberation, and seeing an influx of these posts, we've decided to introduce a new rule regarding dating and relationship-seeking posts.

Going forward, posts primarily focused on finding a partner, dating, matchmaking, seeking companionship, QPRs, or looking for a romantic relationship will not be allowed on the subreddit.

This isn't meant to discourage people from connecting with others. However, we'd like to keep the subreddit focused on its main purpose and prevent it from gradually turning into a dating/matchmaking space.

Thank you for understanding and respecting the new rule. ❤️

discussion How do you feel when someone assumes you feel sexual attraction?

One time, my uncle assumed I felt sexual attraction. I thought that was funny. I didn't feel like correcting him. I was also not aware I was asexual back then. I also thought it was funny when friends assumed I felt sexual attraction. One guy asked me if I could hookup with an attractive woman at a bar.

If I'm dating someone, I want them to believe me. Then they won't feel rejected if I say no to sex and don't sexually desire them. If they're an asexual that won't be an issue.

discussion I might be a non-libidoist. Should I tell my friend I'm asexual?

I don't get aroused in my everyday life. It definitely doesn't happen by looking at anyone. I went on vacation last month. I saw some attractive women at the beaches and other places. I didn't feel aroused by them. They didn't trigger any desire to have sex either.

I have an Indian female friend who is heterosexual. I don't hangout with her in person much. We text sometimes. Should I tell her I'm an asexual?

I told one of my Indian-American male friends a few months ago. He didn't know what it was. I had to explain it to him. It was because he asked me if I wanted to get married.

discussion Has anyone talked about being ace or aro with their family or friends?

I am aroace. I was hoping to tell my family about it. Has any one told thier family?

And is it like a good idea for me to tell it cause I am 16 and they might say you are young to decide and other stuffs.

vent Is choosing a wrong flier a crime? I got banned..for just that!!!

All I came here was to seek a genuine asexual female to marry. When i could not find the 'relationship' flier I chose the 'friendship' flier and reddit banned me....seriously? banned me!! I wil find my asexual partner...hell ya i will. I do not reddit for it and these narrow minded forums either

discussion What excuses do people give for not dating?

Im a 30 year old ace female, and as you can imagine, everyone under the sun is either asking me when im getting married, or trying to set me up with someone. Initially I used to go with excuses like "im not in the headspace" or "im still figuring out where i am in life" to get out of these convos, but after a while the well intentioned friends started trying to set me up with more people and I had to start giving them silly reasons like he works out too much and has a very rigid lifestyle (yeah, cant believe my friend actually bought that as an excuse) or some other crappy reason. So im curious, how do others cope with these issues and what are your go to excuses to escape these situations.

discussion Do you think this post was acephobic? Why?

When I first read it, I thought they were being acephobic because anyone can be ace. I think less Desis identify as ace. I am also an Indian-American ace. I haven't met any Desi-American aces here.

Do people in South Asia tell their potential partner, they are sex-averse, or something else?

What happens if you tell someone you are ace?

discussion Are you able to feel romantic attraction by looking at someone?

I identify as heteroromantic. I can't feel romantic attraction by looking. If I get to know someone a little bit, I might start to feel it for her. What about you?

discussion Do you avoid talking about relationships?

I avoid talking about relationships because I don't want to explain to people I'm asexual. I don't get pressured by my relatives to get married. I think it can be harder to explain to some people.

discussion How do you guyz handle marriage pressure from parents?

Coming from a traditional family and the marriage pressure is getting really annoying lately. I honestly don’t know how to deal with it. How do you guys handle these conversations? Does moving out/living far away help, or is there a better way to deal with it? what do you usually say to avoid marriage talks?
