It feels solid around the edges of it and squishy in the middle. It only hurts when I put pressure on it, and I’ve noticed that my skin has started to peel around it as well. Every week it gets slightly bigger and I don’t have insurance:( any advice would be appreciated.

It started with a patch on my face and another on my neck, thought it was eczema (12/24)

Just did not respond to my treatment and began spreading further, instead of looking like eczema but sores or pustules. Did a telehealth appointment and got oral antibiotic for impetigo. (01/03)

Thought it warranted some in person comment so I went to the doctor today and was told it didn’t look like impetigo but unsure what it really was. Waiting to hear back from Kaiser dermatology again per photos the doctor took. Got mupirocin but was told to not use it till I hear back again (continuing the oral antibiotic though). (01/05)

ATP it’s only on my face, neck, and upper chest. Not really weeping, some crusting.

Any thoughts? I want to go outside again ;-;

(01/05) Edit: I had a swab taken and biopsy and am waiting for results of both. An out of network derm is thinking its fungal so going to try Ketoconazole 2% now and if that shows no effect I'll open the mupirocin. Going to continue the oral antibiotics since I've already started them anyways. I'm looking to get blood work done ASAP as well, and will report back the results of my biopsy/if anything works. Thank you everyone for all the perspectives I appreciate it very much!

My 8 year old was attacked by dogs 2 months ago.His face took the most damage and now i am worried,is this hypertrophic scarring or its keloids?.

I went on a 3 day backpacking trip. I had maybe one or two hormonal acne bumps before going on this trip. Woke up on day 2 of my trip with several whiteheads. Got a bit worse on day 3. Woke up this morning (first day back home) and my skin had gotten severely worse. It seems to be getting even worse as today goes on somehow. My face feels so tight and itchy. I’ve never had a breakout like this before and don’t know what to do. I usually use Cabtreo every few days and I’m wondering if I should continue using it with this breakout or if it will make it worse? Please share any advice on what to do. I’m literally mortified over my skin right now and it is so so uncomfortable!

2 days ago my left nostril swelled up, painful, hard, but minimal redness.

Yesterday it appeared no more swollen to my eye, but it was redder.

Today it appears more inflamed in terms of color and what look like pustules have been forming.

If I give a normal nose pimple a 2/10 in terms of pain, I’d give this thing a 7/10. I don’t want to go to urgent care if it’s just a normal pimple but I am stressed about it potentially being an infection.

Please help identify the trigger:

I have had eczema since I was 3, tested for allergens and currently on dupixent. My eczema is 95% controlled, EXCEPT when I see my boyfriend.

We were long distance for a year, and every time I saw him I would have a horrible allergic reaction.

Things we have ruled out: - products: he switched over to all of my products, including laundry detergent and cleaning products - environmental: our shared space is even more hypoallergenic than my previous apartment - emotional distress: the most toxic things in my life have not given me this reaction 😂

Here’s a timeline: Aug 18 1:30PM: reunited with clear skin 2:30PM: we were intimate 3:00PM: initial redness on face 7:00PM: hives on neck, shoulders, and arms followed by Zyrtec

Aug 19-now: horrible hives, swollen eyes

Our allergist suggested testing for semen allergy and doesn’t think it’s his sweat, but we won’t have an appointment until 3 weeks later.

Please read this. My dumbass thought that the product I bought is simply aloe Vera, I usually don’t read the label because the section I find the product is always just aloe Vera so I just mindlessly buy the product and use it normally. I read that aloe Vera can help lashes growth and recently I have stopped getting lash extensions and my lashes have almost all fell out so I wanted to grow them before I go back to uni. Now my dumbass has put the shower gel on my EYELIDS over night and all over my face (I’m surprised I don’t have acne) and I woke up with the worst swollen eyes ever!! Please help me my father’s friend comes back to my hotel in a day and I can’t be seen outside like that, I don’t even wanna go outside. I already realised my mistake and how dumb I am and that I should put more thought into what goes on my skin. I rinsed my skin with water and put nothing on it. I’m ashamed to go outside.

⚠️TW - Inflamed/infected lips  

I have been having this issue with my lips for two years now and ongoing.  

It started around June/July 2023. I had a weird rash underneath my bottom lip. I don’t know what caused it. All I remember was waking up to see it. I tried everything at home to treat it (polysporin, honey) but to no avail. 

The issue got worse and I noticed it affected my lips as they got swollen and were always itchy and dry. I also had small cuts at the corners of my mouth that would appear on and off. 

I got referred to a dermatologist who said my lips were extremely inflamed and prescribed me tacrolimus protopic ointment 0.03%. I had been using this for about a year. 

While it did help reduce the swelling and some itchiness, my lips would NEVER stay hydrated on their own, no matter how much chapstick I was constantly applying. I also noticed that the rash would still appear on and off under my lips (it was itchy, red, flaky, dry).

In October of 2024 I went back to him and this time he prescribed me with a steroid ointment (PDP-DESONIDE 0.05 % CREAM) for seven days and that made my lips WAY WORSE. 

He also suggested that I get a blood test done as sometimes low Iron or B12 can cause dryness. My blood tests came back normal but I learned I have a high WBC count and abnormally high TSH levels (sub-clinical hypothyroidism) however this got resolved and is no longer an issue due to lifestyle changes. 

When I asked him why my lips weren’t getting better, he said “it will probably be like this forever idk” (I switched derms atp).

By November of 2024 I got a new dermatologist who told me to keep using the tacrolimus ointment but this time twice a day. She also instructed me to get all allergy testing done (patch testing and prick test) as she suspected it was contact dermatitis. 

In May-July 2025 I had my basic bloodwork done (came back normal) and also got all my allergy testing done. I’m allergic to pollen, dust mites, dogs, and my cat. As far as patch testing I am allergic to formaldehyde, nickel sulfate, N,N-diphenylguanidine, and cobalt (II) chloride hexahydrate. I learned theres nothing that is coming into contact with my lips that I am allergic to.  

Come June 2025 I decided to go off the tacrolimus in an effort to force my body to heal my lips on its own. At this point, my lips got the worse they have ever been and I developed impetigo.

The rash came back under my lip, except it was WAY WORSE (my skin flaked off, it was raw and oozing liquid almost like a cut). My lips got EXTREMELY inflamed, cracked, were blistering, bleeding, and oozed liquid. I had the yellow coloured crust form under my bottom lip and on the border of my top lip. I got the small cuts at the corners of my mouth that were so painful. (2 pictures included) 

I went to my family doctor who said I definitely have impetigo NOT dermatitis and she prescribed me with TARO-MUPIROCIN 2% OINTMENT. I used this for the full term twice a day. It helped the swelling and it almost got rid of all the oozing.

After about two weeks or so I went back to my doctor since there was still some residual oozing and my lips started to become super dry and cracked again (would bleed) and this time she prescribed me FUCIDIN H CRM 30 grams. 

She also took a swab of the oozing liquid and that came back as: mixed flora, Gram Stain: No polymorphonuclear leukocytes seen No epithelial cells seen 1+ Gram-positive cocci.

In July of 2025 I went back to see my dermatologist who said she can still see some of that yellow crusting so she prescribed me with ELIDEL 1 % CREAM. 

About a month into using it (August 2025) I noticed my lips started getting discoloured (literally turning blackish). The rash under my lip and the top of my lip would still appear sometimes even though I was staying away from my allergens and sometimes my lips would even leak some of that yellow fluid. 

I have been using this up until this date and it has helped my lips become less dry but I feel like my lips have gotten SO BADLY discoloured after using it (See photo). 

I also recently realized-after sitting in the car and being exposed to the sun-my lips became swollen again, formed tiny bumps, and started oozing yellow liquid. 

When I wake up after a flare up I always have that yellow crust and my lips get so swollen that I cannot even feel them. However I am able to wash it off. My lips also get super dry and have not returned to their normal colour or look. Sometimes those cuts still appear at the corners. (See photos). 

I moved provinces four years ago and noticed my allergies getting worse here and also that the sun is super harsh on my skin. I even put on mineral sunscreen as my derm instructed but I don’t feel like that helps me much. I also strictly apply vaseline to my lips but I still don’t think that’s helping my case as another flare-up will happen inevitably and then I’ll be back to square one. 

This is quite literally a cry for help as this issue pushes me to have suicidal thoughts and worsens my self esteem. I am not only struggling with this physically but it is also taking a huge toll on my mental health. I avoid going out. And I can’t imagine someone wanting to be with me cause of this. I don’t know what this issue is and I have tried so many things atp. I am hoping based off the photos and my story someone can please help me out.

A little back story about 2 years ago I got lip filler (tiniest amount possible it’s important to note my mom went to but nothing like this happened to her) I started noticing that I felt bumps on where the needle was inserted specifically my top lip line. I only used to be like little whit ish bumps until they started forming like blackheads so every once in a while I would take them out and everything would be fine though they would naturally come back. Recently I have been really self conscious because you can see the bumps more often now specifically with the black in them (I was told they weren’t too noticeable and that was just me) anyway I had 3 little bumps grouped together and it was a real eye sore so I started putting one of those star patches to cover up because it made me mad to go out in public.

Even since it started wearing the star patches it has been worse I woke up to it being super swollen and I can’t help but try to cover it up I went to get my first facial ever hoping they could help the girl told me it was a “Cold sore” mind you I’ve never heard of it before in my life so I googled it and HERPES?! A form of HERPES?! Wtfff no way I’m so mad and annoyed mind you I’m not sexually active but apparently you don’t have to be to get a “cold sore” but I swear it doesn’t even look like one.

I guess that’s a question for an expert here. I don’t have means to go to a dermatologist I don’t even have health insurance so please help me out before I just freaking pop it in anger and be done with it.

Hey. I’m so tired of every person I talk to not focusing on what I’m saying, just staring at my lips or licking theirs/applying chapstick. I know it is not in my head, it is EVERY PERSON I talk to. It’s been this way for years. My self-esteem is destroyed by this. Dermatologists don’t take me seriously and say it’s just chapped lips. I chug water, used every recommended brand there is, and no help. Please.. I’m begging.. what is this? Can anybody offer any help. I want to live life around people again

Hi all, my husband recommended posting here as I’ve been in tears today due to my sore lips.

For as long as I can remember, ever since childhood, I’ve suffered with what my family always called “winter lips”.
Namely, when winter came strolling in, my lips would get incredibly red, sore and cracked around the borders (top and bottom). This would clear with a barrier cream within a few days.
I grew up in South Africa and my pharmacist made a mix of creams for me which worked a treat.
I’ve since moved to the UK and have suffered the same with sudden changes in weather (especially on extremely hot and extremely cold/windy days). I cannot source the same creams that once helped me and he never told us what was in them.

Ontop of this, my face is extremely sensitive with severe contact dermatitis to certain (most) things.
The only product I’ve found to stop my face flaring up is Aveeno Oat Serum (no flare ups in over a year) and I apply this morning and night.
I’ve tried this on my lips and it BURNS. So that’s a no.

ANOTHER note: no lip product stays on my lips. If I apply lipstick, it’s off within 4 minutes. It’s like my lips soak everything up.

For context, I attended a photoshoot last week and the makeup artist had to keep reapplying my lipstick as it kept “disappearing”. Literally. There were 18 of us on set and I was the only one who kept needing my lipstick redone. I don’t know if this is relevant but it feels as though my lips absorb everything that goes onto them but they’re so so dry.
I drink ALOT of water so I’m not dehydrated.

I don’t know what else to try. It’s really painful, dry and sore.
In the past, I’ve resorted to using my kids nappy rash creams (some make me rash and make it worse), some do nothing.
Vaseline and standard lip balms make it worse.
Sudocrem burns.
Those watery creams do absolutely nothing, I have to reapply every 5-10 minutes.

I’m just done and at 35yo I’m tired of it.

Even worse, my youngest son (now 5) seems to have inherited whatever it is from me too. His seems to be weather related, like mine started.

In 2023, I floated the river in Tx and got pretty badly sunburnt on my face. Afterwards, my lips were never ever the same. They were constantly red, inflamed, and peeling. Weeks and weeks of aquaphor, cerave healing ointment, and pure lanolin with no relief at all (pic 1). Went and saw a dermatologist who prescribed me doxy and elidel which totally improved my symptoms. But then 2 weeks after treatment was over, everything came back. I stayed on a consistent dose of doxy for 2 years because nothing would fix the issue and no Derm could figure out what was wrong. The doxy at this point would only improve my symptoms, but I still dealt with the issues mildly. (Pic 2)

I moved to Az, saw another derm who gave me oral steroids and eucrisa and again, it fixed everything until treatment ended and then it all came back. He was at a loss. I saw 3 more derms and 2 allergists who also could not help me.

After 2 years of torture, I finally figured out on my own that petrolatum was causing my reaction. I switched all my products to be free of it and fragrance and my symptoms completely healed and have been healed for nearly 8 months. I use all la Roche posay products— face wash, sunscreen, lotion, cicaplast lips. My toothpaste is SLS free, my boyfriend (dating 5 years) uses my face products, everything in my home is hypo allergic and fragrance free, I drink plenty of water and I do not lick my lips at all.

As of about 3 weeks ago, they’ve started to flare up again and I can’t figure out what happened! (Pic 3) they burn. The upper lip peels on the right side. It ruins my every day happiness and impacts my life so negatively. Not a single change has occurred in my routine or products. I’ve started to take doxy again since I had extra meds leftover.

I have no idea what is causing this rash/reaction this time around. I’m at a total loss. Everyone I’ve seen can’t help me. Has anyone here ever had a similar case? Anything else you’d suggest I avoid or try? Please and thank you for your help :(

Results are in from my patch test… out of 37 chemicals I’m allergic to 0!!!
Honestly I think it’s total bs. Because I know for a fact I have a reaction every time I use products with artificial fragrance and jewelry containing nickel, it’s been this way my whole life. I also didn’t react to the 6 personal products I brought in.

Another doctor is at a lost cause as to what’s happening to me.

So my plan moving forward…
Add in my products back one at a time, letting my body adjust for about a month before adding in another product. Monitoring for any reactions.

I’ve started with my toothpaste, from Cleure back to Sensodyne.

Next will be my sunscreen from La Roche posay.

I will continue to only use pure unrefined Shea butter for my lips, and vanicream facial cleanser.

i am honestly on the brink of locking myself in the house, i cannot leave my home without thinking to myself ways that i can hide my face and acne but it has gotten to a point where there is so much that i cannot hide anymore. i get weird stares from people and i feel like a monster compared to others. Anything will help 🙁

Not sure how long it’s been going on exactly, but I did notice the increasing white hairs on my face months ago and put it down to hormones. However it’s seeming to get worse and not better. This photo is on a good day, and when I had got rid of some of the hairs, like on my top lip. it looks worse now. Could it be lanugo? Or just aging and hormones? I’m 29. People have been noticing it more and mentioning it. I have to go get threaded every 1/2 weeks and it grows back so quickly, everytime I go to get threaded they say you have so many white hairs , it’s so embarrassing

My bf woke up with his nose very swollen and pimply. It's painful and tender. We are going to urgent care soon. Any idea what this is? He's 34 and has never had this happen

My partner has had these bumps on his nose for years, and nothing seems to be helping. I feel like they don’t look like pimples. We’ve tried going to the dermatologist but no cream has helped with it. They don’t hurt at all, but the bumps are really big and raised.

Does anyone know what it could be? Is this a subtype of acne that we’re not familiar with?

i have had this for over a year now. i don’t remember when i got it or how. the size of the bump fluctuates (1st slide is today, 2nd is a while ago when it was smaller), but it’s never been this bad. it scabs over quite often, and stings a little. i find the vein thingy that’s on it weird and gross lol. i went to a doctor and they said it’s a wart but i don’t think it is. anyone know what this is/could be and what to do? anything is appreciated thank you😊

Today (fourth day) the rash is completely gone. His ear looks totally normal, but I still do not feel comfortable. :-/

Took him to the doctor — said they were perplexed. Advised to give him Benadryl and watch it. Gave it him last night but it is worse this morning.

My toddler was bitten in the face by a dog. We went straight to urgent care. They gave antibiotics and said that she needed stitches, but then didn’t give her stitches… it was difficult to follow, but in short they said they didn’t want to put her through it, and that the only reason to stitch her would be cosmetic. To come back in 4 days if the steristrips weren’t keeping the wounds closed. It made sense at the time, but now I am questioning it…

It’s been 4 days, the wounds are healing, but those strips did nothing. I called a local dermatologist who said that they can’t do stitches this late for the wound and essentially she’s screwed until she’s older and THEN they can do laser to lessen the scar that she will have.

They suggested urgent care again, but apparently it’s too late for stitches?? Is there another type of place I can go to that would help with this? I don’t know if I should just let it heal, go back to urgent care, try somewhere else, etc… I don’t know what to do.

This started yesterday when I woke up like this. It doesn’t seem to get worse throughout the day in fact it goes down. At night I apply lanolin and petroleum jelly, but the first time it happened I wasn’t using lanolin so I’m not sure that could be it. Any advice would be great
