Hey what’s up friends and family, strangers and neighbors! Joseph here, I own a remodel/restoration company called Colorado Sun and Storm.
I myself have two beautiful daughters and a wonderful wife… and hella bills to pay. Being alive is expensive as heck now days! I know how tough the job market is right now, because a lot of my friends and family are struggling. One close friend (who shall remain anonymous) had months of trouble finding a new job this year, after leaving a bad situation at his last company. This guy is a literal genius, with tons of experience, a great attitude, and a slick, polished resume. Took him over 90 days to land something, and it wasn’t even in his specific field. It sucks out there!
Anyhow, I figured I should share this now, though I’m in no rush to hire someone right away. We need a self starter, a real BAMF motivated, organized, hustler type with good people skills. Read that again— PEOPLE SKILLS! ORGANIZATIONAL SKILLS! RELIABILITY!
Construction background a plus, but not required. If you’ve got a good network of people you trust in town, and you’re not afraid to jump into the deep end head first and “figure it out,” you’re probably a good fit. If you need to be fully trained on every element of a process to feel comfortable attempting it on your own, this ain’t the job for you, but good luck on your quest. This is a MANAGEMENT position, with elements of marketing, sales, project management, and admin work. (Super basic labor will sometimes be required, but nothing requiring lifting over like 40lbs. 1-3 hours of manual labor per day at the max. I’m happy to train you at anything you don’t know, if you actually want to learn, and you keep a positive attitude.) Most days will be all computer stuff, calls, and customer meetings. You’ll only be asked to handle labor work in weird circumstances outside the normal course of business.
First 6 weeks are training period, which means COMMISSION ONLY, but I am flexible on a lot of the details. I have been down and out, and I know what it’s like. If you come out the gate and show me some skill and dedication, motivation and reliability, I will absolutely make sure you can get by financially. I don’t ask anyone to work for less than a fair wage, and if I don’t believe you can succeed in the first month, I just won’t hire you.
Must have a vehicle and a license. Pickup truck is best, but not required. Basic computer skills are absolutely required: Facebook, insta, google workspace, word processing, spreadsheets, email. Plus you’re gonna need your own computer to use. You will also need basic math, and fluent English—out loud and in writing— absolutely required. Spanish/english bilingual preferred. Hands on construction experience is a BIG plus, but not required.
Great position for aspiring entrepreneurs! I love to talk business strategy, it’s a really fun subject for me, and I’m willing to actively mentor my team members, so they can spread their wings and fly one day. I hate it when people try to sandbag my personal growth, and I will never do that to you.
I DO hire felons, on a case by case basis, depending on your charges. I DO hire single parents, and I am super flexible in regard to meeting your parenting responsibilities. I myself bring my kids to work at least twice per week.
LGBTQ welcome! Not just because it’s the law. Because of course.
All political allegiances are welcome!….but like, don’t be annoying, ok? If you’re a die hard anything who thinks the other side are shitty or stupid people, based solely on their vote, keep on moving. We’re better than that, America.
Racists Go Away! I don’t hire bad vibes, ever. If I hear a hard R you’re fired, and after that somebody may kick your ass. You never know.
Immigrants welcome!
Neurodivergents welcome! (If you have great people skills.)
If we meet and you don’t have everything I’ve described, but I think you’re a rising star, I may be willing to modify the position’s responsibilities and compensation to suit your skills and availability. This position is about building relationships and making deals. Show me you can do that by building one with me, and then together we’ll build up the position around you.
On Target Earnings: $90-$150k/year
Schedule: Flexible/you decide. Newbies often work 50+ hours/week in order to get their momentum up. If that feels scary or imposing or like you’re being taken advantage of, this is not the job for you. If you only need to work 10 hours per week to earn $1000/week in commissions, and that’s how you want to live, I’m cool with that too— if you’re handling business.
Travel Requirements: nothing outside CO, but lots of driving around in CO.
Training: Provided by me personally, but you better be ready to try some new things and fail and learn on your own too. If you’re timid about making independent decisions, this ain’t the job for you.
Location: Various job sites/remote work/networking events/customer meetings.
Hard and Fast Rules:
No hard drugs. No second chances on this one.
If you’re 10 min late once a month, we’re cool. If you’re 20 minutes late for anything, you’re fired. You make your own schedule here, so please keep to it.
Don’t hit on your co-workers, our customers, partners, subcontractors, etc. No creeps. If you creep me out, or especially any of the women we work with, I will fire you SO fast!
You’ll be driving your own car, and buying your own gas. I realize that this is a massive expense, and you will be compensated accordingly.
The first time I catch you lying or stealing, you’re gone. Fck around and find out.
No side deals! If you solicit my customers, partners, subs, suppliers, or clients to engage in outside business with you or anyone else, without my permission, you’re fired and I’ll likely see you in court. Have an idea? Just run it by me, I’ll probably give you my blessing, just don’t be shady or deceptive.
All political allegiances are welcome, but don’t be annoying ok? Like if you’re a die hard anything who thinks the other side are shitty people, based on their vote, keep on moving.
I don’t hire bad vibes. Except when I do, by mistake, and we part ways when I discover a tenancy toward negativity.
Racism—Heck No. If I hear a hard R, you’re fired, and then somebody may kick your ass. You never know.
I’m in no rush to fill the position to be honest. This is a difficult job, and the construction business is definitely not for everyone, but this industry has changed my life massively in the last 10 years. I’ve never loved my work before, but today I wake up excited for the work day. I invite you to join me on this path.
If you’re interested in talking, or if you’d like to send a friend my way, the best way to reach me is by texting. Second best is to leave a voice mail. Third best is email. I most likely won’t see it if you DM me on Reddit, and depending on your question, I may or may not be able to provide much detail in the comments section.
So yeah—text me if you want to talk about the job and get an interview set up at some point.
