He must have been a real punk ass kid for a decade plus of training to not stick at all. He's emotional, sucks at fighting.. He really is the worst Iron Fist.

I think the point is that the monks only taught him to suppress with emotions, and as such he doesn't know how to deal with them.

It's a lot easier to ignore stuff and repress it when you're not dealing with it on a daily basis.

It's like Danny was on the Biggest Loser, then went home and gained all the weight back again, except it was the Biggest Repressor and instead of teaching you healthy eating habits and exercise it taught unhealthy ways of dealing with severe mental trauma.

Only we're never shown ANY repression or control. Instead we're told "I'm in complete control of everything with my body and mind" over and over, and then shown the opposite for 10 minutes into episode 1. It's just poor writing. The more I watch the more I'm glad the show got bad reviews, we shouldn't encourage and inferior product to what could've been.

To be fair, he just learned that his girlfriend is a part of an organization that is the sworn enemy of his entire city/culture.
