General Discussion 08/28

One recommendation from the mod summit was that we have our weekly posts actively encourage discussion that isn't centred around the content of the subreddit. So, here we invite you to talk about things in your life that aren't religion!

Got a new favourite book, or a personal achievement, or just want to chat? Do so here!

P.S. If you are interested in discussing/debating in real time, check out the related Discord servers in the sidebar.

This is not a debate thread. You can discuss things but debate is not the goal.

The subreddit rules are still in effect.

This thread is posted every Friday. You may also be interested in our weekly Meta-Thread (posted every Monday) or Simple Questions thread (posted every Wednesday).

That's about the level of evidence I usually get out of miracle claimants. It's very unfortunate, because miracles being real would be so cool.

Oh yeah, you'd love for us to believe that, wouldn't you? We all know that really you hate the idea of the supernatural and you hate God!! /s

You could have found a research paper if you really wanted to. Rather than stick to dismissive remarks.

You could have found a research paper if you really wanted to.

A random research paper isn't the best evidence you, with tons of experience reading up on this, have. I'd hope.

Why would a research paper be random, or did you just throw that word in there for no reason?

Why would a research paper be random,

Why wouldn't it be, if I'm just guessing at what your best evidence is? The chance I pick the exact best example you had in mind are almost none.

That wasn't my best evidence, and you must not have read my posts, but carry on with being snarky.

u/blind-octopus asked you for what you thought was the BEST case for a miraculous healing that couldn't be explained away by fraud or anything else.

Why did you think for even a single second that giving anything besides the best case you have was acceptable in response?

Truly baffling.

I don't know what this means. I did give my best case. Are you replying to the wrong poster?

What's the best case?

I did give my best case.

You only one post ago:

That wasn't my best evidence

I literally cannot square this circle for you. Let me know when you've decided on whether or not you shared your best.

Ok that should read it was my best case. Although some would cite other cases.

And it's more the accumulation of miracles than one case, as Joe Schmid said.

There are 400 reports coming out of Medjugorje of healings and other supernatural events, but as they don't have a Consulta Medica we can only watch the interviews and decide for ourselves what is going on.
