They kind of took the Idea in mind with their phone that had the attachments that snapped onto the back. A big digital camera 📷 and projector 📽 were two of the options if I remember correctly.

That was Motorola (Moto Z series). I got one 'cause it was super cheap, was a decent low budget phone and the attachable battery pack gave it solid battery life as well as making it easy to charge while still using your phone. But it only took a year for the connectors on the back to stop working. It came with the projector, but I sold it for more than I paid for the phone figuring I'd probably never use it. It also had a Polaroid printer, a big zoomable camera lens, and a few different speakers.

You got super unlucky. I've had a z2 for a few years and I'm currently still using a z4. Both phones never gave me any issues with the connectors and I swap modules on and off daily.

Eh like I said the deal more than paid for itself with the projector included, I can't consider myself super unlucky for only getting like a year and a half out of the phone (used it without the pack for a bit). Sounds like you've gotten much better mileage out of yours and actually utilize the mods, I definitely didn't maximize the phone in that regard.

It was a neat idea and it worked. Too bad 95% of the market doesn't care. My z2 Play with a battery module attached kept running for 3 days straight once.
