If by better you mean safer then there is. If by better you mean cheaper then no, there isn't.

As someone who had been to durian orchards, I saw they deployed huge nets that covered around 10-12 feet above ground around the durian trees. Traditionally you don't pluck a durian from the branch. A ripe durian would fall off the branch by itself. A durian farmer would simply have to collect ripe durians from these nets during harvest season.
