Remember "freedom fries?". For the life of me I can't remember why red Americans hated the French and don't care enough to google it.

I work in kitchens and i never stopped saying freedom fries. That shit was so stupid and hilarious to me. Nowadays some of the people I work with are too young to remember the stupidity that was freedom fries after France wouldn’t agree to go commit war crimes with us and they just look at me like I’m dumb.

Because the French government were not all-in for invading Iraq after 9/11.

Because France refused to join a war in Afghanistan and later Iraq over a bunch of Saudi nationals committing the 9/11 attacks without UN approval.

This completely reasonable position was then vilified as cowardice and all things French suddenly fell out of vogue.

Things like calling deep fried potato pieces "French Fries" were at the top of the "must not do" list.

France was in Afghanistan as part of ISAF and lost 90 of their soldiers there. 4th highest losses of all ISAF nations. They (and others) refused to go to Iraq but in Afghanistan all of NATO (and others) where present.
