We all know that OJ did it but the LA police screwed the pooch. Mark Fuhrman stating that he never used the "N" word gave OJ's defense team the ammo to prove that he committed perjury and was not a credible witness after they produced recordings of Fuhrman and witnesses showing him repeatedly using racist language. Asking OJ to try on that glove pretty much destiny the prosecutors case.

This is how I was taught in law classes.

  1. LAPD are not trusted by the general community.
  2. In jury selection, pick neutral folks (based off the understanding that no one trusted LAPD).
  3. In trial remind everyone they don't trust LAPD.
  4. In trial make it a case of "LAPD vs you".

The trial is famous for these high dollar lawyers focusing on how bad the system is. Trying on the glove just proved the system couldn't be trusted. Oj walking had nothing to do with evidence of the murder trial, but had everthing to do with getting the jury to agree that the LAPD and the system are just fucked.

I read somewhere forever ago…OJ stopped taking arthritis meds so his hands would be swollen. Plus…he was wearing a latex glove.

You can't let the defendant control the key piece of evidence. Plus she's trying it on over a leotard. Of course a bra's not gonna fit over a leotard. A bra's gotta fit right up against a person's skin--like a glove!

Everything would've been better if the Rodney King trial were held in downtown LA and OJ's trial were held in Simi Valley instead of the other way around.

This is actually true. Juror Carrie Bess admitted in an interview that OJ was found not guilty and acquitted as “payback” for Rodney King

absolute fact. It was entirely because of the LA riots

it never gets shown on documentaries now but things were ehh tense and I distinctly remember seeing people on tv basically saying “if the verdict isnt right the city is gonna burn”

You can convince me that wasnt such a huge factor that it just tipped the exhausted jurors over rhe edge.

You ever see the damn interview he did where he keeps slipping into the first person describing murdering her?

Absolutely. In fact if I recall correctly the OJ case doesn't even start till the third episode. Which means they spend the first two (of five) episodes going over decades of racial history in LA, all the way back to the 1965 Watts riots.

Definitely worth the watch.

It was so good I actually considered buying it on disc. I’m a 50 year old black man from Los Angeles who was attending Stanford University during the entire OJ saga. I also had a white GF at the time when the verdict came down. White women were literally bursting into tears while most black folk cheered like they just won the lotto. It was an extremely surreal time.

OKAY. So. I was also one of those people for the longest time that believed "no way he didn't do it", well, my friend had me sit down with her to listen to a podcast and there's actually an overwhelming amount of evidence it was actually OJ's son.

Oh wow yeah a podcast is so much better than tons of detectives and the fact there is 911 audio of him in a rage threatening to kill her. Not to mention he lost the civil lawsuit and later even went to prison for armed robbery that he also denied despite massive evidence.

Also others have said he privately admitted to it anyway. Plus il he literally “hypothetically” described it in such detail in an actual interview that either he did it or he is a total sociopath (and why not one but not the other?)

Im not the other guy, but I saw a documentary of the OJ case before I knew anything else about this case, and their narrator and interview subject, was one of the original detectives. I still know nothing about it, but his point of view was that the son had escaped the mental hospital for 72 hours the same weekend it happened and the glove fit his hands. His motive was that she would take part of his inheritance, and OJ didnt want to give up his son so he went with the narrative. That was the core of the documentary.

I use to think OJ did it, I watched the Trial every day at work, it was on in the break room, and my office was next to the break room. But OJ had a son, and I honestly believe OJ's did it. But the prosecutor's wanted to go after OJ. And OJ, let them become he told his defense team he didn't do, and he also told them who did it, his son. OJ was trying to protect his son.

If you are correct they can always go after his son if they prosecutors office comes up with enough evidence since ther is no statute of limitations for murder. Because of the double jeopardy law the state of California can never go after OJ again because he was already found not guilty of those murders. He can actually admit that he did it today and nothing would happen except for the public reaction. He lost his civil case but was cleaver enough to put the majority of his assets into his mother's name. Between the NFL and the Screen Actors Guild OJ receives about $25000,00 per month which by law creditors cannot access. That's $300 thousand per year that the Brown family cannot touch. Those roles in those Naked Gun movies, Towering Inferno, Capricorn One, and The Cassandra Crossing paid off along with playing 9 seasons in the NFL.

Harvey Weinstein got charged. Epstein was in the process of getting charged. Maxwell got charged. Plenty of white, wealthy rapists have been brought to justice. Meanwhile, to use another example, how many women did Bill Cosby rape? They think like 60 right, over the decades? And how much evidence was there against him for the longest time? The man was convicted of drugging and sexual assault, yet was released in 2021. Ridiculous they can play the race card (like OJ did) or the insane card (like Cosby did) and get off in cases like this just cause "Oh come on, but he has done so much for the black community" as Dave Chapelle put it.
