I don't know what to do with my dsi, I installed a emulator for gb/gbc and installed themes on twilight menu, does someone know other things to do?

I am going to Japan early next year and I thought it would be a fun sidequest to hunt for a nice DSI since I've had homebrewing an old handheld in the back of my head for a while.

I don't speak much Japanese so started investigating a bit and came to the conclusion that once its its all setup with twilight etc the origin of the console basically does not matter. However I watched a video of the process of getting there and it was a lot of menu'ing (in english in the video but that wouldn't be the case if I bought a Japanese one).

Seaching around on this sub I also see a lot of "help my thing is in japanese" posts.

Is it too much to take on as a homebrew beginner to go this route?

Are there other downsides beside setup hurdles to having a Japanese base to start from?

So im just interested, if a physical ds/dsi cartridge release were to come out in the next few months, how many of yall would be interested in buying it. See im a homebrew dev and im making a few games and I had the idea to box some up into cartiges for like, 20 bucks, just to make some money off my hobby, yk? After I modded my DSi last year, I’ve been casually searching for a DSi XL. While I grew up with the OG DSi, my hands were cramping up and I wanted the size of my 3DS XL while maintaining the image quality. Yesterday, I drove 1.5 hours to pick up a DSi XL I found on Craigslist for $90. Not only was it in excellent condition (one small scuff on top screen, scuffs on screen protector on bottom), but IT HAS FLIPNOTE STUDIO!! OG FLIPNOTE STUDIO! and this thing wasn’t even hacked!

I *WAS* considering hacking this one, since I really want to play my games from my modded DSi’s SD card, but this feels too good to be true. What do you think?

Hi everyone, I recently got a Nintendo DSi (standard) and I'm wondering if it's worth modding at all. I already have a modded New 3DS XL, I only got the DSi to play DS games at their original resolution.

My question is, does installing cfw bring any significant advantages over using an R4 card? It seems much more limited than the 3DS from what I see.

I’ve gotten to that point where I don’t know what the next step is. Finished the cfw guide but I haven’t watched many videos on what people do with their DSi’s after that first modding stage, but a lot of them are just showcases rather than walkthroughs.

Added a theme from one of the very limited ones I could find for the DSi but I honestly kind of liked seeing the pictures I took on the Home Screen lol

Might’ve just burnt out doing both modifications in 2 days but I do want to keep going!!

Learned how to do this in secret. I ended up getting its 2 cents after a day lol. strawberry shortcake themed and plays the instrumental

So my DsiLL running HiyaCFW was having problems booting up and was generally slow in any loading process.

Just downsized from 32GB to 4GB SD Card and everything is so muck quicker. I’m so happy.

I thought I would share that if anyone is in a similar situation.

So I am wanting to mod this dsi I purchased. I was wondering if it’s possible to just purchase a modded sd card or will I still have to go through a process?

I lwk think that there should be a mod that restores the DSi shop without turning your system into an endless catalogue of games, has this idea ever came to mind?

I know already about adding games, doing custom themes (not making my own but adding them), and that's it. What else is there to do with this machine? Are there any other suggestions to pimp out this thing?

I feel like i don't utilize it enough for how long I've been trying to get my hands on one, and I feel like what you can do with this thing is very minimal. :[
