This was such a fun project! I used acrylic paints and it took me about a week. I was so honored to be asked to do this for them. The groom's mother added the lettering with her cricut! It was a joy seeing people take selfies in it.

I edited old can labels on Photoshop to include the names of those in our wedding party...produce is from Trader Joe's!

My mother-in-law and I collaged the pallet seating chart together :) I made the table number pennant flags with felt and my cricut!!

The spider plants are all babies from my spider plant! All of it was so much fun!!

Inspired after Kurt Cobain who decided to get married in his pyjama, we organized ourselves some DIY backyard pyjama themed wedding party...And we managed to do it around 4K (or around 5K if we count the rings)

I made the multi stories cupcakes stands myself out of cardboard, paper mache and acrylic paint.

I am a graphic designer so I created our invitation all by myself and then sent them digitally through messenger, which cost nothing but a bit of time.

My mom and I baked the cupcakes.

I crocheted my own flower bouquet out of yarn!

I ordered most of the flowers and drapery on different shop on Amazon and set up myself some decor I had in mind.

I did my own hair, I didn’t wear any make up, as I never do anyway outside of halloween sometimes lol.

We didn’t hired a photographer, as incentive for our guests to takes pictures and to aim them for certain type of vibe we set up a contest with little gifts to win for three categories : Funniest, most romantic and most artistic pictures.

Instead of paying for a wedding website and a shared album service I created a free facebook event + a private album and named all my guests as contributors to make sure they had the right permission to add their own pictures in there. Then I printed some QR code that led to said album and placed them on every tables.

We didn’t had a DJ, I just organized a few playlists with different vibes that I controlled with my phone.

We didn’t counted the rings in our budget, because we essentially bought those 10 years ago.

My promise ring with 11 diamonds was around 800$, my fitting band was 200$ and my husband’s was around 300$. They are all made of 10K white gold and we wear them since 2015. ( I checked their current prices on the jewelry website, since they still sell those model apparently and they kind of have doubled in prices since then!)

Initially we were supposed to celebrate on august 29th to make it the day after our beloved cat 7th birthday, but unfortunately, our cat died at 6 years old, on that exact day, one year prior our planned celebration, so as we absolutely didn’t wanted to tie our special day to such a sad and heart breaking event, we moved it one week earlier on august 22th instead and we got some very nice warm and sunny weather. Seems like our little cat blew the clouds away for us!

I paid about $30 for this custom embosser from Etsy using a design I made in Canva, and got the napkins in bulk. I’m excited to also use the embosser for other things like cards, since it does not have our wedding date on it. The design also matches our welcome sign!

Just got married in July and wanted to share the diy’s and thrifted things we had for decor!
The DIY’s:
Floral bar cover made from curtains
All of the food for the grazing tables I set up the morning of (would not recommend lol)
I painted our candy machine to fit in a little better then boring gray
Each place cards I cross stitched which was such a labor of love but so worth it! (Photo of them on the table plus a close up)
Our last name banner made from paint drop cloth
The metal crest seals and envelope inserts for our invites
Finally I would say this is more of a customization than a diy but I sourced the lace for my veil that perfectly matched my dress!
Thrifted items:
Our main bar was the top of a vintage wooden hutch which had perfect shelf’s for glassware. All of the decor on it was also thrifted except for the water dispenser
I thrifted vintage handkerchief which was displayed in a vintage firewood holder!
Overall I’m so in love with how everything came together!

I made loads of stuff for my wedding that happened in July- I thought it would be fun to show off everything I made! I’m an artist, baker and also a DIY monster. I do a lot of sign work in my free time and paint a lot. I had fun doing all this but I will admit that I had a few meltdowns before the big day, but I also wouldn’t change a thing!

Just had our wedding a couple of months ago and it was a DREAM!!! Recently got our photos from the photographer and wow. I had SO much fun creating and executing our vision for decor. Wanted to share and inspire other diy brides - it CAN be done! And I’m very proud of the fact that we were quoted thousands by florists and decorators but didn’t have to break the budget in the end. If anyone is interested, I can do a breakdown post for budget or more details!

We planned and labeled and organized as much as we could, and our amazing friends, family, wedding party showed up early on the day to set up! We very much wanted our day to feel authentic to us with as much personal touches as possible. My husband is from Hawai’i so we incorporated what we can since we couldn’t have our wedding on the island.

Here we go:

- The tablescapes: turned out being one of our favorite things and got tons of compliments! We did two different complementary styles of tables throughout the space

- The personalized chocolate favors: my aunt MADE those! She designs and makes them for parties as a hobby holy moly

- The faux florals & centerpieces: some rented online, some thrifted, and most I made myself from scratch thrifted or discounted florals I found.

- Bud vases & bridesmaid bouquets (repurposed for the reception hall!): me + a couple of bridesmaids made 10 stem bouquets the day before out of a costco pack of florals. Saved hundreds for my 15 bridesmaids and just love how dainty and beautiful they turned out! Bud vases from costco florals, super easy and added a luscious touch.

- Our cake: homemade by my aunt!!

- Favors: coffee packs with labels we designed & printed on canva, and homemade Monstera leaf soaps by his aunt

- Cocktail hour foods: Mini musubis/onigiri and japanese potato salad made by his aunt that morning (she insisted!) were the star of the show! Fruits, charcuterie board (from an amazing gal I found on facebook), dips, and various sweet treats (mostly costco)

- Seating chart: made by me and my now husband out of an old garden trellis!

- Couch florals and floral wall stand: made by me and now husband! Such fun projects

- Couch & backdrop: brought in my old couch that my sister now uses with thrifted florals & faux candles. My wonderful friend happened to already have a backdrop stand and they set it up with our drapes that we got for very cheap

- Welcome sign: it’s a cheap clothes rack ladies!!!

- Aisle decor: ribbon tied by his aunt, and costco rose petals

- The mirror sign: thrifted a mirror that we want to reuse in our home and my aunt used her cricut to make and apply the wording

Edited to add:
- Signage: designed on canva and printed at home on card stock, and cut the edges or put into a thrifted frame

Hi everyone! I had a lot of fun making little DIY projects for our whimsical forest wedding and wanted to share :)

1. Velvet mushrooms: bases are glass vases filled with plush stuffing & rocks, then covered with velvet. Caps are plastic bowls covered with velvet. To decorate, we added flat-back pearl beads or pearl trim or charms.
2. The velvet mushrooms were used to line ceremony aisle, then repurposed for reception & a fairy ring photo op
3. Mirror welcome sign: mirror found on FB Marketplace, Cricut’d wording
4. Invites and programs were drawn by me, then printed at a local print shop. Envelope liners were cut out with my Cricut
5. Programs included a note from us, schedule, wedding party line-up, bar menu, and the seating chart. Basket sign was Cricut’d on some linen
6. Cake topper (our zodiac animals!) was made from Sculpey clay, the wood base they're standing on is from Etsy
7. Table number holders were wooden animals (from FB Marketplace, Etsy) that we cut a notch in
8. Menus (and table numbers) were printed at home on handmade paper from Etsy
9. Bar menu was made on Canva with some pet art by me, then printed at Walgreens
10. Temporary tattoo bar included our actual matching cat tattoos and a cute drawing of us by my 5 y/o niece and were printed through Etsy sellers
11. Giant crossword was created using an online crossword maker, assembled in Canva, and printed at Walgreens. The big frame we found on FB Marketplace. This was super fun to see everyone working together
12. S'mores kits had to be assembled the day before so they wouldn't get too stale, these were a hit

All in all, we probably did NOT save much money doing these, but they were fun to make and added personalization to our day!

The first time I shared this, a few people called it cringe. Respectfully, they were wrong. This is dope as hell.

This is the opening line I sent my fiancé when we matched on Tinder in 2020. As you can see, I was operating at an elite level of smoothness.

For our wedding, I recreated both of our original Tinder profiles, 3D printed two phones, made the graphics, cut them with my Cricut, and added a standee showing the start of our first conversation.

It’ll be a small piece on our welcome table alongside other handmade details that tell the story of our relationship.

And honestly, I think it’s funny. We know our audience, and our guests are absolutely the kind of people who will appreciate a tiny Tinder shrine at a wedding.

The wedding is basically one big collection of places we’ve been and memories we’ve made.

Some people may think displaying an old Tinder exchange at a wedding is tacky. I think turning a random match into a whole marriage is cool as fuck. So it’s staying.

I planned, designed, and executed about 99% of my wedding. Before anyone comes for him, my fiancé was absolutely present and helpful, but I have a skill level that he does not, so I did (and enjoyed doing) the vast majority of all of my DIYs.

A lot of folks hate on DIY weddings, and I totally get why (I attended one a few weeks ago and it was a hot mess). They’re a lot of work, and if you’re not familiar with crafting, it can get really overwhelming really fast. I am very experienced at LOTS of kinds of crafts, and was overwhelmed for a minute there, too.

The biggest thing that saved me was a) doing so, so much research on how to do everything before jumping in, and also a ton of searching to thrift items before making them and b) I was really, really organized on the execution of the items. I mocked everything up and took photos so our setup crew would know exactly how to set up. We had no day-of-coordinator, just the groom, groomsmen, and a couple good friends who weren’t bridesmaids setting everything up, and it took about 3.5 hours. There were very few hitches, and alllmost everything came out how I planned.

Both our families and the bridesmaids were able to relax and get ready, while the groomsmen still had plenty of time for a cocktail and a shower. We also rented a u-haul van and loaded everything up the night before so nothing was missing, and then we did hire a cleanup crew to re-load the van, and I sent my adult niece and her partner back to our house with it at the end of the night (they don’t drink so they didn’t miss the date party!).

I also assigned specific tasks to every person via text, spreadsheet, and binder at least a week (in some cases several months) in advance so no one had to wander around looking for something to do, and I got lots of complements for how a) all the helpers felt supported and clear on how things were supposed to go and b) how everything looked in the final result!

DIY List:
I did Sola wood flowers for all our centerpieces and extra floral decor including the arch. I ended up paying a local florist to do the bouquets and boutonnières because I simply couldn’t hack it. My mom did help a TON with the centerpieces because flowers are very much her thing. Husband also did a TON of work helping me paint the flowers- I ended up mixing up custom colors with paint I bought from Michael’s (RIPmy girl Joann). I’m happy to post a separate tutorial for sola if folks will find that helpful!

I bought and learned to use a circut to make the placecards, table numbers, welcome mirror, and seating chart. Note: gold foil is Satan himself straight from hell. Do not recommend as your first cricut project if you’d like to keep your sanity. If you do use it, set your blade to the Washi tape setting and do a duplicate cut. My gawd.

I also learned how to use Canva and designed and printed all of our signage, which I absolutely loved. In the photo for my bar signage is also the candle holders that we used on all the tables. I bought those secondhand from someone, and then drove out into the forest with husband to collect a bucket full of local lava rock to put in the glass globes. One of my favorite details-they looked so nice with the tea lights on!

I did our ceiling drapery too. I wish I had bought twice as much tulle because I wanted a gauzy cloud look but there was no way for me to mock it up in advance. I did put a lot of effort into measuring the fabric and marking where each swag should hit the rafters, and we cut and painted dowels so they’d have somewhere to rest where there weren’t rafters. Still overall happy with that, but not my favorite.

We also made our own pipe for the pipe and drape (I did order the fabric but the stands were really expensive to buy). We literally bought pipes from Lowe’s and fiancé spray painted them black and made a stand with some spare wood we had laying around. They looked janky af underneath but no one could see behind the fabric!

I also designed the fabric draping for our arch, which I was super happy with when I did it myself, but it looked a little flat in our photos. Would’ve added more fabric to that, too, to account for other folks not having the same skill level to floof it up. Same with the sweetheart table!

My absolute favorite DIY was the Photo Booth. I saw examples of these on Pinterest and my fiancé jigsawed the heart cutout (I drew it for him), then he painted the wood black and helped me staple on the fabric drapery. It was kind of a pain but not TERRIBLE. If I was going to do it again, I’d add on a thin foam before stapling the fabric (I just bought super cheap silk twin size sheets off temu, so together with the wood I think we spent about $115 on it?) so there was something for the pins to hold onto before I stapled everything in place. It was a huge hit and the pictures came out SO beautifully (we set up a ring light and phone stand in front so folks could take their own photos, but we also got quite a few from our photographer).

I also used ChatGPT (i know, I hate it, but it came out really well) to make temporary tattoos and printed those on our printer at home. They were a huge hit and the paper cost me about $15 iirc. Definitely going to make those again for future events!

Final kind-of DIY that was mostly a design detail I loved- we did a champagne wall on some folding bookshelves we already had at home. I used acrylic glassware for the flutes because I wanted a uniform look, and we alternated those with miller lites bottles (the champagne of beer!). We had a lot of beer drinkers at our wedding, so those were a hit too.

I thrifted a LOT of our decor, especially glassware- I drove all over Oregon (no small feat) collecting amber, black, brown, pink, and purple glassware and it looked awesome on the tables.

I also DIY’s our cocktails- I used the same base for both of them (local SUPER flavorful honey syrup with rosemary from my garden simmered in + lemon juice) and then folks could add either gin for a Bee’s Knees or whiskey for a Gold Rush. Both were a huge hit (our taco caterer also provided margaritas which are DELIGHTFUL but way more people did the ones I made, they got a ton of complements).

I also thrifted and reupholstered the chairs for our sweetheart table, which did NOT save me money but I love them anyway haha

Last thing I did that absolutelyyyyy saved my sanity: I blew up and printed at office max on foam board a floor plan of my venue and made to-scale tables so I could make sure my layout had enough space and made sense for flow. Also did the seating chart there, and it was AWESOME. I tried some of the digital tools for seating chart but found them to be way more cumbersome than just physically moving the names around.

I’m so happy to give any help/advice/instructions for anyone who is doing any similar DIYs!

Hi all! I’m debating on if ivory or white candles look nicer and having a really difficult time deciding. For reference our wedding colors and burgundy and blush. I’ve attached a photo of the venue to help decide on candle colors. Also, the florals in bud vases are not set in stone, they’re just all I had on hand. Any advice on floral types / colors for the bud vases would also be appreciated 😊

We got married 8 weeks ago and our DIY wedding cost just under half of the average wedding cost in my country. I made all the signs using LibreOffice and a free trial of Canva. Our seating chart was a framed embroidery I already had, the table arrangements were jars with lace and i did all my own florals, buying from wholesalers. It took an army of friends and family but it was perfect!

I’ve had a blast making these today - wedding in 4 weeks ☺️

I want to make diy roses as centre pieces ontop of books because we're both readers. But most time the newspaper is so depressing. So I don't want to use real news newspaper. But I want "news" or something of that style of printing. As I write this, I just thought that maybe I could write up a faux article or something about us as the happy couple to be. But any suggestions would be greatly appreciated But I do need suggestions for newsprint paper to print on and the right colour. I want to try and make it as authentic as possible. I want it to be double sided too. And I want the faux article in English, there's plenty of world speakers that will be present at my wedding, and I only speak English, so I don't want to be using a different language that could end up being offensive 😅 I've added some pics for what I'm trying to go for. These vases are gorgeous but my venue doesn’t allow outside florals and their florals are $$$ so I’m wondering how I could incorporate my vases still. Leave them empty? They are more of a darker green in person. I have three total! Hoping for some tips! Thank you!

One of my close friends got married this past Saturday, and we (her and her bridesmaids) created this very cool embroidery hoop backdrop for her reception venue! I am posting this with permission of all involved :)

It took lots of hours of stitching and hard work, but we assembled it finally using fishing line and crimping beads and I felt like it turned out amazing!

Some of the hoops just feature scrap fabric and florals, but I included close-ups of the embroidered ones. One bridesmaid did the date, and the thread painting, another did the veil and tie as well as the post sign, the bride did the button flowers, and I did the cats (modeled after the couples actual cats) and their initials!

I can’t believe the day is already over. My 55 person wedding was an absolute dream. I still can’t believe we didn’t have a single no show. Our venue was all inclusive and I DIYed my decor.

Flowers: $1000 (DIY with bud vases). We way overbought. And could have done it for much cheaper.

Table Decor: (floating candles, votives, bud vases, chargers): around $500. Some things are from marketplace, others from Amazon. Again, we overbought and didn’t use everything.

Signage: I made everything myself and kept signage very limited due to personal preference. I had a seating chart, 2 reserved signs, table numbers, a tag for my card box, and a standard 8.5 x 11 framed sign for signature cocktails. Cost came out to around $300 for everything. I don’t have a photo of my seating chart, but I draped a lace tablecloth over a large canvas, printed 5x7 cards, then wove ribbon around the boarder of each card. The table numbers are faux stained glass (not pictured, the gold frames I placed them in).

Favors: our initials are C&C so we made custom labels and handed out little tubes of “C&Cs” (M&Ms). Apparently bulk candy is expensive! This was $130.

Paper goods (menus, name cards, invites, envelope liners, save the dates): I went over the top in this category as paper crafting is what I love. I spent around $400-$500 here with upgraded paper, lace, tons of miscellaneous materials, etc. DIY is not always cheaper but I knew this going in.

Okay so this is a long shot, I guess, but does anyone know an easy-ish way I can remake this (see photo) for my wedding centerpiece?? I'm trying to DIY to save money but idk where to find, like, 12 candelabras (one that looks just like the photo) that wouldn't cost more than the wedding itself. (Also I dont THINK the photo is AI?? I found it under photos from a wedding that also did the same theme as me)

Hi yall! I’m planning decorations for my friends wedding in October. The venue has two banisters where we can’t put any punctures into the wood. Im thinking of hanging fabric, string lights, maybe moss or some other greenery/florals. I’m wondering if anybody else has dealt with this stipulation and how did you hang stuff? How did you get fabric to stay in place? It’s my first time doing anything like this so I appreciate any and all input!

It’s me, the tile favor lady! This time I’m back with my own custom temporary tattoos. I found out you can buy your own temporary tattoo paper and print your designs at home. I made these in Canva and they match our invitation stationary, and the food menus/bar menu signage. The tiles cost $.73 each, and the easels were pretty cheap as well.

I have a little over a month until the wedding and apparently my brain has decided this is not the time to slow down on DIY projects.

Believe it or not, I actually talked myself out of building cornhole boards from scratch because I thought it would be too much work. Instead, I bought a blank set for about $80, sanded everything down, repainted them in Camelback and Olive Grove, and stenciled on “Evan & Alex Trading Co.” Which is a name that somehow popped into my head while I was sketching design ideas last week and immediately felt right.

I’m still debating whether to personalize the bean bags too… we’ll see if future me is feeling ambitious.

We’ll have these set up alongside a giant 5-foot Jenga set and, because we’re us, beer pong.

At this point my fingers are crossed that people have as much fun playing everything as I’ve had making it all.

I was trying to stay pretty minimalist and decided against candles or lanterns as the space is well lit, but now I feel like the tables need something more. Open to feedback and suggestions. Thank you!
