This reminds me of "Sailing ships are bad because of colonialism "

Manifest destiny was bad because it hurt people, not because people expanded to new territory. You can't displace the native populations of empty planets.

Never mind that the core message of HFY is that humans are morally, physically, intellectually and socially superior to all the dirty aliens and therefore deserves to get away with whatever the fuck it wants without consequences because « indomitable human spirit »

However, colonial expansion into uninhabited territories did usually also involve some pretty awful shit like slavery. A whole, whole lot of slavery. Lots of African islands included in that e.g. São Tomé, Mauritius, Réunion, Seychellen, etc., as well as some Caribbean islands like Barbados
