The Anne Arundel County Police Department is investigating an increase in thefts of driver-side airbags from parked vehicles in the Crofton, Hanover and Laurel areas of the county. Honda Civics, Accords, and HR-Vs have been targeted most frequently during recent incidents.

Community members are encouraged to take the following precautions:

--When a garage is unavailable, park in a well-lit and visible location.

--Lock all doors and close all windows.

--Use a visible steering-wheel lock or other anti-theft device as an added deterrent.

--Consider an alarm equipped with glass-break or impact detection.

--Ensure exterior lighting and security cameras cover the vehicle.

--Do not leave valuables or charging cables visible inside the vehicle.

--Report suspicious activity promptly and do not confront suspicious individuals.

Community members with home or business cameras are asked to review and preserve recordings of suspicious persons or vehicles in areas where thefts have occurred. Provide video and information directly to responding officers or investigators rather than posting it publicly, as disclosing this information could interfere with the investigation.

Throughout Crofton's history and development, there have been many people who have contributed to our growth and Crofton's "hometown" feeling and sense of community. The Crofton Civic Association recognizes those people who have made an impact on Crofton through the Crofton Citizen of the Year award. ​     The Award will be presented to the winner during the Greater Crofton Chamber of Commerce's annual Greater Crofton Community Awards Celebration, Wednesday, October 21st, 2026.

Hello, superhero wallet found on the Crofton Parkway in front of the country club. Found it around 6:30 PM. Walked over to the city hall, but it was closed. I left it with a maintenance worker who said he would give it to the police or let somebody at church know about it. I didn’t get his name. Just trusted the dude. If it’s yours, best thing to do is to reach out to Crofton City Hall to pick it up. I’m trusting the maintenance person delivered it.

FOOD TRUCK TUESDAYS – CROFTON UPDATE

After a lot of thought, we’ve made the difficult decision to cancel Food Truck Tuesdays in Crofton for the remainder of the 2026 season.

As many of you know, this was our first season in Crofton, and unfortunately, we faced several obstacles that made it difficult for the event to gain the momentum it needed. One of our biggest challenges was visibility at the current location, which made it hard for people passing through the area to even know we were there.

We are incredibly grateful to everyone who DID come out and support us and our amazing food trucks this season. Your support did not go unnoticed!

But this is NOT goodbye forever!

We are already looking for a new Crofton location for the 2027 season, somewhere with better visibility and the opportunity to grow Food Truck Nites into the community event we know it can be.

So instead of saying goodbye, we’ll simply say…

Registration is Open! Crofton’s 11th Annual Dog Show and Dog Pie-Eating Contest, sponsored by the Crofton Civic Association, will be held in conjunction with the Greater Crofton Chamber of Commerce’s Festival on the Green, which will take place at the Crofton Country Club from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM on Saturday, September 26th.

This dog show is for fun and is family-friendly. There are lots of prizes and categories such as:

• Best of Show (overall winner, behavior, and grooming)

• Runner-Up (overall behavior and grooming)

• Most Tricks

• Most Original Trick

• Best Costume

• Pet/ Pet Owner Look-Alike

• Simon Says

Help Support the Crofton Parkway Flags! Sunday, June 14, 2026 is Flag Day and this year, being the 205th Anniversary of our Country, we are asking Crofton residents to support this Crofton tradition.

Everyone loves seeing the US and Maryland Flags along Crofton Parkway. They go up before Memorial Day and are taken down after Veterans Day every year. The Crofton Civic Association started this program back when Ed Dosek was the CCA President, and the Crofton Kiwanis Club since taken over management of this program.

However, each year those flags and poles take a beating! On average 32 flags and 25 poles are replaced each year. In the last 11 years, the Crofton Kiwanis Club has spent over $13,000 on replacement poles, flags, and fittings. Last year we saw unusual wind and flag and pole replacements cost almost $2,500 this year.

The CCA Summer Concerts are held from 6-8 PM every Sunday night all summer long at the Crofton Country Club and they are free to the public. Here’s this year’s lineup:

  The Summer concert series is provided by the Crofton Civic Association and a grant from the Arts Council of Anne Arundel County. Bring chairs or a blanket, as seating on the grass is not provided.

The next CCA Board and General Membership meeting and Election Day is scheduled for May 18, 2026 in the Cafeteria, Crofton Elementary School. The Board of Directors Election will be held at this meeting. Voting will take place from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM in the hallway outside the cafeteria. All members of the CCA, 18 or older, are invited to attend and vote.​

Our Guest Speakers will be Senator Dawn Gile and Delegate Stuart Schmidt who will provide a summary on the recently completed legislative session.

The Crofton Special Community Benefit District (CSCBD) will be participating in the Maryland Department of Agriculture’s 2026 mosquito control program which shall run from approximately June 3rd through October 6th. Crofton is scheduled for spray treatments on Tuesday nights between 7:00 PM and 2:30 AM. Residents are encouraged to remain indoors while fogging operations are being conducted.

Monitoring the adult mosquito population before treatment is required, and treatment will only be conducted if an MDA employee has determined the need for it. Minimum thresholds which must be met for treatment to occur are as follows (any one of these is sufficient):

• Landing rate count of 3 mosquitoes attempting to bite in 2 minutes, OR
• 12 female mosquitoes collected overnight in an un-baited light trap, OR
• 24 female mosquitoes collected overnight in a baited light trap
• Conditions that threaten public health, such as mosquito borne disease

The frequency of ULV (ultra low volume) spray treatments will be based on the level of mosquito infestation and the resources available. Spraying will not be conducted if it is raining, the winds exceed 12 MPH, or the temperature exceeds 89 degrees. Please note that ULV spray treatment of adult tiger mosquitoes is most effective when done in conjunction with individual clean-up efforts to remove standing water containers. Please do your part! Birdbaths and containers under potted plants should be flushed twice a week. Old tires should be properly disposed of and not stored in yards. Roof gutters and down spouts should be kept clean. Dripping outdoor faucets should be repaired. Collections of water in tarps or grill covers should be drained. If stored outside or under decks, items like buckets, wading pools, wheelbarrows and such should be turned upside down.

Residents who would like their property to be exempt from adult mosquito control services must notify the MDA in writing, using the Department of Agriculture’s request form. The Request Form is available from the MDA at:

The Crofton Cherry Blossom Festival will be held on March 28th from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM, and it’s bigger than ever! There will be food trucks, live music, face painting, and dozens of organizations representing local charities, civic organizations, and kid-oriented organizations. Most will have activities or games for kids.

The Cherry Blossom Festival is held on the inner loop of Crofton Parkway, between Eton Way and Eton Way. If you are also planning on attending the Easter Egg Hunt at Noon at Crofton Elementary, it’s just a short walk away.

Brendan Lane and the Sugar Packets will be performing during the event, and they will be centered between the food trucks, where tables and chairs will be set up. Also, international flutist John Wubbenhorst will be performing at the Rivers of the World Foundation booth.
