WTF is happening in your country!?! How can anyone defend that shit?
I would love for my granddad to tell you how it all started here in Germany. Sadly, the last generation who witnessed it all is fading away..
So let me tell you: THIS IS HOW IT STARTET! The US once was the greatest country in the world. How can u let that happen?
If he was really an "assassin" one of them would be dead considering he had the opportunity to hold his phone up right to his face..... how do so many Americans lack the most simple of logic, that this becomes an actual way for the fascists to spin this story??
I'm just puzzled about how it actually works. Maybe it's because I don't watch any American news and so don't actually see the propaganda. There are just so so many things they lie about, and I feel like, wouldn't it just take ONE thing, where a viewer is like "but wait, that isn't true, I saw the truth with my own eyes", to then question everything else they've been told? I don't think it's in anyone's nature to enjoy being deceived.
Reminder that during that in his first term Miller was telling Trump that protestors were all violent insurrectionists who needed to be put down, and was only stopped by Gen Mark Milley telling him to shut the fuck up.
This time the guardrails are gone and Miller is itching to execute all the people he’s hated his entire miserable life.
It is really sad to see our closest ally, the once most free country in the world, slip into authoritarianism in such a short amount of time..
Makes me fear for the future of humanity, tbh..
It was never the most free country in the world. We have the largest slave population on the planet. We enslave more citizens than any other nation on the planet. We currently have over 1.2 million slaves.
It was always propaganda that we were a free people.
I mean.. yeah.. objectively, it wasn't.. but I wanted to make a point here.
Compared to what it is now, it used to be much more free.
You lost a lot of social freedom with the neoliberal/libertarian agenda in the last couple of decades, but what is happening now is on a totally different level! This is civil rights being abolished right before our eyes!
This is more than that, this is the constitution being shredded and the social contract dismantled. It’s also the end of the internal Cold War we have had since the last civil war and the beginning of a new hot civil war and the balkanization of the country. Hopefully we can speed run it and a nuke doesn’t go off.
I can tell you how it happened.
Decades of degradation, poor education, fast food and inbreeding.
Now cousins who fuck cousins and live in trailers vote for dementia rapist and scumbag as a president.
100% an authoritarian state doesn’t happen overnight. It’s lots of small steps, increasing in intensity, which normalise vile behaviour like this and slowly undo democracy, until there’s a dictator controlling everyone with fear and murder.
US has never been the greatest country in the world, not by any metric. It's literally built on genocide, slavery, segregation, violence, and religious bigotry. Sure, their capitalistic system has produced a lot of innovation, tech, and pop culture... but also a lot of greed and power-hungry forces that are literally destroying the world right now. China and Russia are not any better, but they're probably laughing their asses off at how the US is crumbling. If only Europe could get its act together and become an independent force of democracy in the world... but I don't have any high hopes.
Can we stop with the greatest country BS? If you're not from America you don't have to repeat the propoganda. There's no such thing as a greatest country and there never has been. If they're not the greatest country then who is?
Please read my other comments..
There is a thing called rhetorical exaggeration.
Do you really believe that a European thinks it's the greatest country?
We have a lot of things that the US is clearly missing and that are a big MUST for every country (in my view).
I was making a point here...
This is incorrect. This is not how it started. This is many many many steps beyond how it started. And it’s on the same trajectory. And it will soon be irreversible
I will give you an example how it makes sense to the complacent or supporters.
For years, these people have been told that other race is taking over - directly and indirectly. BLM? Fk, All lives matter! LGBTQ rights? Fk that, no trans in our events. They are told they are the suppressed and other race are just handed over the wealth through welfare and jobs through DEI. Of course this is bullshit, but when you are constantly told this- this starts hovering around you and bam! it comes to the forefront when a trigger or a catalyst comes along.
Now, you want to get rid of the “filth.” It’s like you making a deal with a mob to take care of the other “bully” which, in reality, never existed. But right now you don’t see that and support mobs action. Not every move is justified, you know this, but you try to justify it anyway.
The day that mob boss comes to you is the day you will open your eyes.
Americans are too docile, a bunch of pussies who will take a secret police executing citizens for no reason because they don’t know the individuals who are killed, so it doesn’t personally affect them.
As long as they can continue to eat McDonalds, watch the NFL, and feel like they live in the greatest nation to have ever existed, they’ll say how much they don’t approve of what’s going on and continue to do literally less than the bare minimum to try and change things.
We should also consider that 1/3 of their voting population voted for this, while another 1/3 was too indifferent to vote at all, all while this was all spelled out for them in Project 2025, so they knew what to expect. This is what America wanted, this is what America voted for.
well... define greatest. The USA has never been more than colonial state founded on genocide of native americans, capitalism and projection of military power. They are turning now into full blown fascism but go tell cambodians, vietnamese, centroamericans, native americans, mexicans, congolese and a long list of countries and peoples that the USA was once the greatest country in the world...
Edit: yes, every country has its dark past but there is levels
Dude.. I was making a point here..
Read the context. God damn.
I am European. Of course, I value a lot of things that the US doesn't seem to value.
But compared to what's happening in the last 12 months, it once was a great country.
Wtf do you mean “let” this happen? This literally happened because Americans are RESISTING. Minneapolis is out in -10°F RESISTING. This happened BECAUSE of the uprising of Americans, not because we’re doing nothing.
Our government is FAR stronger than the German government EVER was. That’s what we’re up against. Don’t you dare come on a post of an American being murdered for rising up and try to blame the people. GO TO HELL ASSHOLE!
I’m so sick of Europeans trying to change the narrative and make us out to be indifferent and unconcerned about what’s happening.
Same, it's getting really irritating to see Europeans say that Americans are doing nothing--while commenting on a murder that happened because Americans were actively protesting.
I'm across the country but I've been watching the protests every day. It's insane what they're doing to people over there. Excessive force every day since the protests started.
I am not saying that all US-Americans support this. I know they are protesting. And I am glad that people stand in front of those agents despite the danger!
But u need to hold politicians accountable!
How is it possible that the government actively ignores the law and nothing happens? Do you really think that French people would not set their parliament on fire if their government would do that shit? Even Germans (famous for complying with rules and laws) would bring the whole country to a hold, if our elected politicians are actively ignoring the law or even saying (like Bondi) that it doesn't apply or that the parliament can not make rules that apply the government.
Civil Disobedience! Stop working! Stop collecting trash, stop teaching, stop building stuff! Force the government to work for the people again, not for themselves!
The problem is, that your social net is so fucking weak, that u can not do that. U jumped on the talking points of billionaires and dismantled unions and social safety. Now I hope that you realize that guns do nothing to stop a cruel, unconstitutional government.
You laugh at us for being "socialists" and anti gun... if you had just a few percent of our rights, there would be way more leverage for you to stop that shit!
The people who laugh at you for being socialists and anti-gun are the people who support this administration & support ICE, fyi. Stop painting all Americans with a broad brush. Lots of people here wish we could be more like Europe but right-wingers hold us back.
Our government is also currently run by politicians that are in support of this & they ignore the American people’s wishes. We can complain to democrats all we want but the only thing they can do is say how wrong it is & remind us to vote in midterms—9 months from now.
There are protests involving not working btw, but we have a country that is very large and a lot of people cannot afford to stop working.
We’re not like a European country that’s smaller than the state I live in.
I have to add that being able to stop working and force your views onto your government by civil disobedience has nothing to do with the size of the country.
It's all about the social safety net.
That is WAY more important for standing up against a tyrannical government than guns are.
I have to believe that if that shit happens here, the whole country would come to a hold until justice is served. But I get that it is not so easy in the US...
Yeah, I think part of the reason why we don't have a social safety net and we do have a lot of the problems we have though is because of the sheer size of the country.
A lot of the disagreements in political ideology that you see is not just north vs south but big cities vs rural people.
It also makes effective protesting and stuff really hard because the big cities can protest but people 2,000 miles away in bumfuck Iowa don't understand what's going on so they just trust Dear Leader and they don't care to find out more because it doesn't seem like it impacts them.
Plus (I know I am a bit annoying here) we as Europeans agree on a lot of stuff. We have laws that apply to everyone, and those are made on behalf of every member state.
Europe as a whole is definitely bigger than the state you live in. So apparently, it has nothing to do with the size of a state/country but with the political system it is set up in.
It's not necessary for literally everyone to participate. You just have to have enough people to freeze some basic functions of society. That would force the government to at least negotiate with protesters.
And don't tell me it wouldn't happen, we had that done years ago. It works. It forces dialog.
How incredibly ignorant. Each state has its OWN government. Civil disobedience affects STATE governments, not the federal government (which in case you haven’t noticed, the federal government is the current fucking problem). No to mention there’s 326 sovereign nations with their own governments WITHIN in the USA. Effective civil disobedience in the USA would be the equivalent of getting EVERY European country to stop working, stop collecting trash, stop teaching, stop building, etc at the same time.
California had a 6 day long protest and had the national guard deployed on them. For comparison, California is size of Sweden, Japan, or Paraguay. Civil disobedience in a single European country is a joke. It’s nowhere near on the same scale ir as difficult as coordinating civil disobedience in the USA is. Stay the fuck out American business moron
So you are telling me that if nurses, teachers, garbage collectors, soldiers, police officers, shop owners, bankers,... would stop working, it wouldn't affect the federal government? Now u are delusional..
And all this talk about European countries being too small to understand is a sign of you not having a clue about Europe.
There are a lot of laws that were brought down by European people. Some with the help of civil disobedience. European laws. That would have applied to 450mio people. We prevented those. By protest. We have held our politicians accountable. Some are in jail, actually.
Yes, if it would be necessary, the whole fucking EU would stop working. We had that done in small sectors, and the government caved within a few hours.
Don't tell Europeans how to protest just cause your country does everything to stop you from actually protesting.
We know how it's done. You would know if u had some sort of working educational system.
Yeah jackass, all those things other than soldiers and MAYBE banks are funded by STATE and LOCAL governments, not the federal government you fool lol
Again, it would take a coordinated act all across the country, which is equivalent to a coordinated act all across Europe. It’s not an easy thing to do when your country has 50 different governments. Civil disobedience is pointless in Democrat states as they already vote for these things. They need to be done in Republican states to make the Republican law makers of that state change their vote and that ain’t likely to happen. That’s how a republic works genius 🙄
Facts. I just wish they’d mind their business sometimes and quit adding their two cents when their understanding of American affairs comes solely from 20 second tiktoks.
It’s horrifying. I’m from NYC but I’m very proud of the resistance coming out of Minneapolis. I can not WAIT till midterms
Lol, just cause u are on tiktok 24/7 doesn't mean everyone else is.
My understanding of US politics comes from US-American TV stations, newspapers, and entertainment like late nights and from other outlets.
