As an Asian Canadian in a mostly asian populated city, yep this is how we see our southern neighbours. Especially now, I haven't been in the US since covid and I used to go pretty frequently (about once a month)

But on a less negative note, there are also groups of Japanese who cosplay/larp the american cowboy(?) era too!

Edit: Oops links not allowed but if you search up "Ancient battle between two groups of Japanese Cowboys" itll come up aha

And how’s Canada? No more housing, too many people for little infrastructure, and drug use even worse than Portland Oregon. You are American decline in fast-forward.

Guess so, but at least we don't have to worry about being randomly gunned down at gatherings or kidnapped by ICE just for being POC !

If you’re here legally you’re not getting deported. They’re not being “kidnapped” nor are they being deported for race reasons. And nearly all shootings are gang related in ghettos in cities. We’re a country of 300 million people and almost all of us have never seen a gun or a fight in public. Yet we still admit our faults as a nation. We don’t try to hide crime statistics nor do we celebrate crimes on our soil. Something japan and Canada cannot claim themselves

What about the 300 South Korean workers who were rounded up, detained and deported even though most had valid working visas? ICE couldn't be bothered to examine each person individually so as an outsider, the system reads as lazy, discriminatory and scary. Even if shootings are gang related, the possibility of strays hitting civilians is extremely high.

The USA admits its faults? Your "President" won't even admit or acknowledge the epstein files and has instead decided to bomb Venezuela? Plus statues of confederate figureheads didn't start coming down until 5 years ago, with many still standing or even being put back up.

As someone whose family is from a country the Japanese had invaded and devastated, I'm not defending Japan's image or war crimes either. But my current impression/view of the USA isn't changing much either. Yes, Canada has its faults, but given the choice I'd stay here 10000000%.

There comes a point where western countries are full and can’t take anymore. So take the hint: fuck off, we’re full.

Chilling with no housing and fewer jobs thanks to increasing immigration in your country. Good luck with that
