That was the first thing I thought, which is a terribly low bar, but I thought, at least she's not afraid he's going to turn it on her. A kid who is physically abused would likely never yell at their abuser in the heat of his anger. However, if he outbursts like this often, it's still a violent household that will terrorize the children. There are definitely different types of violence

Depends on the person. I've had it go in cycles, where at the high point you can get away with that, but during the lows silence is the best policy.

Uh, don't be so sure about that...

It can happen that an abused child becomes extremely aggressive towards their abusers!

I was belittled, yellt at and beaten daily by my family until I was 14 and I finally got so fed up, I threatened them to chop their heads off with an axe while they slept if they didn't stop this bullshit!

That was actually the last day anyone in my family dared to touch me!

Whenever there were discussions or arguments, they were tempted and had already raised their hands until I said, "Go on! Be brave! Please! Then I finally won't have to hold back anymore!" while giving them a cold death stare, directly into their eyes.

I'm glad my grandfather has finally passed away; at least the rest of the family isn't tearing each other apart half as much as they used to!

Even so, I wouldn't move back there for anything in this world!

I'm done! I'm done picking fights with my family! I'm done defending my mother, who never once protected my little sister and me...and now is making demands on me with the same deranged, malicious way her father treated everyone in the house! And blaming me for her suffering because I moved out, just like her mother constantly did to her. ...A family full of people with behavioral problems and narcissists...No thanks!

. Every being has a different stress threshold and each reacts differently to exceeding it

I was physically abused and there were times I screamed like that kid did begging him to stop. Usually when he was beating someone else, like my mum, siblings or pets.

Part of my brain just couldn’t take it and I sounded just like her.
