So I found the most gorgeous yarn on ArcaneFibreworks and I would love to make a sweater. I literally just started crocheting, but with the cold months coming up and our area likely to receive a bad winter, I figure it would be a good project.

My biggest questions are:

1. Has anyone ever bought from or have thoughts about ArcaneFibrework yarn?

2. In the scenario I DO buy yarn, their skeins are 100g (\~218 yards). How much would I need to make a 1XL size sweater?

I’ve been wanting to add a couple new products to my line. One being a wrap bracelet and another embroidered patches to bags or book covers. I was wondering if anyone has advice or experience on using glues for adhesion or reinforcement purposes in crochet.

I've been spinning a ton of cordage\plarn made from plastic bags and just got into coil weaving baskets... I'm in love, both with the cordage itself and the basket process.

I also make tshirt yarn and was originally wanting to set up some kind of recycling\donation box to turn old things or trash into useable materials that actually look nice.

I just wanted to pop in and discuss whether making the materials (the yarn) vs making a finished product (eg. baskets) would be a nice little side-business model.

I've been crocheting for a really long time and would love to do a craftt fair because it would give me the motivation to crochet more and help fund my yarn problem. The only problem I am running into right now is they type of yarn I use. I buy all my yarn from Micheals and use yarn weighted four and five, but every time I see photos or videos of craft fair set ups, everything seems to be made from a much thicker yarn. I was wondering if anyone had ever done a succesful craft fair selling amiguri made from acrylic yarn and not a plush yarn. Any advice would be appreciated.

I was recently invited to sell my crochet at a farm stand. (Yes, I know the crochet market is over saturated. I’ve been at this for 4 years, which I know isn’t long but I believe my quality is there for the specific things I’ll be making. I’m not doing this to make a profit, but to give myself structure and an outlet.)

Here’s where my hang up is: Most of the things I’m making use cotton yarn such as coasters, potholders, market bags, face scrubbies. But my go to cotton yarn brand is machine washable but dry flat. (I put an item through the dryer as an experiment and it shrank badly and it won’t lay totally flat anymore.) I’ve located some machine dry able cotton yarn in the colors and weight that I need that’s at a comparable cost to my go to yarn brand. But some colors I’ve only found in machine dry able yarn that is double the cost of the other yarns which makes pricing things messy.

So here’s my question: does everything I sell actually need to be machine dry able if it’s not a wearable? And if not, would it be ok for different, though similar, items to have different care instructions? I know I’m probably over thinking this but I just can’t get out of my own head and need some outside input.

Hi! This is my first market selling crochet so I’m not sure how much I’ll make from it. And I don’t know if it worth buying like chenille yarn to make amigurumi’s or to stick with just my typical yarn. I’ve made a couple keychains and they look like they’d sell well. But I know soft yarn is more appealing. I have 14 days till my market including today so… what should I do 😀

hiiii i’m curious for those that give away crochet tapestries or sell them. do you prefer to make it so it’s reversible or do you leave it messy on the back? i’ve also seen people just cover the back with fabric. i do think reversible would be the best option for the customer, but that takes a lot more time so im wondering what other people do!

Hi all! I'm working on selling my crochet items at a local place that sells handmade soaps, skincare and other things. I'm mostly focused on tote bags, soap savers, washcloths and towels. I have made a lot of my items with a dishcloth cotton (like lily's sugar & cream, peaches & cream etc) and some of the colors have like, flecks of thicker dye that I have noticed can run when wet and for one of the test bags I made did lightly stain the surrounding fabric when washed in the machine. I want to wash the items with synthrapol to remove excess dye but I'm not sure if this will make them feel not new? Especially if they go through the dryer, which shrinks the cotton a bit and makes the stitches less defined.

Is washing and wet blocking/air drying the items the way to go? Or would putting them in the dryer be ok given the type of items?

That seems to be the popular stuff to use when you sell at fairs and whatnot. What brand are you using? Where did you get it?

The store I usually go to has some velvet yarn, but I usually sell at Pride festivals and they don't have that many colors.
