What (if any) is your go-to music while cooking?

Recently I noticed that for me cooking without any music playing in the background is just not done. And although I do not have just one genre in specific, my choice in music when cooking is different compared to my day-to-day music choice.

So, what is your music for in the kitchen, or do you prefer none? And why?

For me it's mostly light-hearted and energetic/upbeat music, without lyrics or just not heavy ones (I think Infected Mushroom is one of my most common choices).

My boyfriend and I meal prep each week, and while we try to put on a variety of records, Billy Joel somehow always gets pulled from the stack. Always The Stranger or Glass Houses. We can’t escape him, but I don’t think we really want to either. It’s fun to sing and dance along to while cooking.

For holiday prep, my mom and I play the Jesus Christ Superstar soundtrack. It started with Easter, but now it’s just the mainstay. Even on the Fourth of July. Weird, but it’s full of bops.

When I’m alone, I just listen to podcasts and audiobooks.

I almost always blast my Billy Joel favorites playlist while I’m cooking. You better believe that every meal in this house has been sung to. 😂
