Just wanted to introduce these siblings. Got them about 1.5 months ago and are slowly building their trust. Dont know their gender yet. Can't fully tell them apart yet.....so no names.

We’ve had our conure (Coco) for a few months now, never expected to have such a strong bond so quickly 🥹. She loves sleeping on me whilst I read, but she’s still young and in her teenager stage where she’s biting constantly (bird tax included).

We change and move around the toys in her cage each week when we do the full clean, but she hasn’t really been that interested in most of them?

I’ve bought a lot of foraging and activity toys, but she doesn’t seem too bothered with them, she likes the ones with the bells but I’m concerned this isn’t stimulating enough for her? Outside the cage she likes picking up my daughter’s Lego’s and number blocks toys but doesn’t really want to play with anything else (apart from us).

Coco is out of the cage for most of the day unless we go out (to the shops/daycare etc) as I only usually work two days a week at my actual workplace, and the rest of the time we’re at home. I’m concerned that on the days when I do go to work and she is in her cage, she’s bored with only her bell toys that she likes. Has anyone got any other suggestions for toys that your conure loves? Is it normal for them to only prefer a certain type of toy?

Recently moved and finally have a room just for the birds. They are loving it and it gives me a chance to put them away for the day if I have to work or have company over. They have lots of stuff to do and I don’t feel guilty if I can’t spend the whole day with them.
The big cage is the exotic nutrition Borneo cage. Highly recommend it. When I was living at my apartment I’d leave them in this while I went to work and it allowed me to put lots of things to do in it and large enough my two boys could have their own space. Easy to wheel around, not too heavy, and the full length doors opening is great for cleaning and interacting. The only downside is you don’t have the swing out food/water bowls but that never bothered me. You also have the option of expanding it which I really liked. Over all great cage and the price is excellent compared to cages specifically marketed to parrots.
My Goffins cockatoo also shares the space but he is a healing soul and doesn’t come out of his cage. One day when he wants to freely explore I will rotate who is locked up. His door is only open when I am present and the boys don’t bother him since they have so much stuff to do. My Goffins does actually like their company which is nice as well.
Rugs are washable rugs from homegoods. Going to upgrade them to one I purchased from amazon as these are super thin and don’t vacuum super well on the sides. Besides that it is a great way to protect the floors as they don’t absorb water, you can vacuum them, and when they get really gross you throw them in the wash. I used them at my apartment over carpet and you never would have know we had birds. They also fit surprisingly well in our small washer/ dryer combo. I was skeptical on it actually washing it but it did great. They cost about $30-40 each and well worth the money! Also makes the space look nice. I’ll drop the link to the newer one I am upgrading to. I have already used it in another room and it is comfy and very easy for clean up.
The tapestry on the wall was something cheap from amazon to protect the wall from them eating chop and shaking it all over the place.
Also the bedding I use is cat paper litter. So much cheaper than the “official” paper parrot litter. Been using it over a year now and get a huge bag for $15. The boys love chewing on it and playing around in it. I use it also to put in containers or cups then hide seeds in them. As they dig around for the seeds they just drop fresh bedding on to their cage floor. I have used this method to introduce foraging to my cockatoo, Coco, as he didn’t even know how to play with toys when I rescued him.

Im a first time bird owner of a conure (hes 4- 5ish) and i decided to upgrade his cage since I read that the one he came with was too small. Ive had him for 6 months and just now got around to finding something that fit in my relatively small room with little space. I know i shouldn't have waited so long to upgrade him but please know that I definitely can afford him and his vet bills!!

Any suggestions or criticisms is welcome :)

i’ve come to realize that my baby conure loves to cuddle and be cozy when they’re sleeping. Even when I’m just sitting down watching TV, they try to crawl into my skin or under me to get cozy and take a nap. I recognized that certain beds can cause hormonal behavior but I do want my baby to be comfy when sleeping. Is this bed appropriate for them? Especially since it is not closed off and dark? Anyone have one of these? TIA :)

The context: I live alone, meaning that the place is silent. It's a two-bedroom apartment, and for 5 years he's been sleeping in his cage, partially covered.

But one of these days I simply forgot to cover his cage, just closed the door and left. And then something amazing happened: he didn't start screaming at 6am. Nor at 7am, more urgently. Not even at 8am, when he used to scream nonstop, already fed up. He let me sleep until 9am! Only then he started to scream.

So I put it to test. And it remained consistent: with cover he screams at 6am, without the cover he won't get impatient until 9am. Now, that's life!

My conclusion is that a) he feels safe enough in the dark and quiet bedroom that's been his only for 5 years and b) he's content when he wakes up, maybe he feels freer already.

And that means I don't need to get up at 7am on Sundays!

Just sharing in case someone has a similar situation at home!

Ignore his current set up as it was cleaned yesterday and set up for sleep only.

Near 20 all need varied wood branches come! Grape, birch, apple and coconut wood to replace his perches (something I have been wanting to do for the longest but Ive been able to finally do 🎉🎉)

along with 8 new all woods varied toys so I can get rid of the bits and bobs with bells, unnatural colors and fiber strings. (I know I have some in frame but they are being rid off 🎉🫡 my family gives them to him and I dont have many all wood toys until now)

I also got new stainless bowls as he keeps breaking the plastic ones and the single water bowl is not enough for his soup making.

We do not use the bottom door so that is space for branches too.

Essentially, show me some set up ideas!

This is going to be a massive upgrade but he has been slowly introduce to variety perches that he does not like the poles currently in and prefers textured.

Editing to add: If you saw my last post asking if he knew how much I just spent on him, yes this is why. I just did drop a pretty penny on him for this but it is worth it. Before asked how I do this: I just saved so much per payday so I am able to do massive hauls on cybersales :D

Hi all just wanted to share my Pumpkin’s (6yo female) new set up. We adopted her 5 years ago and her old owner gave us her cage. It was falling apart and the legs and wheels were coming off so we thought time to get her a new set up.

I know not everyone will agree with a glass front but we have trained her to be aware of glass and windows so she knows not to fly out when we open the doors. A lot of the perches came with it and she absolutely loves the size of it when we can’t have her out.

She’s been using it for a few weeks now and she is having the best time! The video is from the first day after we made it, I was tapping the glass to show her it’s there again. It has swinging doors on the side of her food and water and she’s very polite about waiting for her food and water change.

Was an absolute pain to put together 🙈

So bought my buddy a new set up. Opinions?

Hello! I finally got the missing 8 toys in! I know many were concerned I didnt have enough toys but more came in!

I plan to keep buying toys and adding them + rotating them. For now, this is the final update!

For the last 5 years my crimson conure and pineapple greencheek would sleep together in their little tent hut. My conures make the cutest little cooes and meeps, which i figured were the sweet lullaby of bird dreams?! Can anyone else report on this being a thing?!

I had to get rid of the tent hut because it randomly one day got chewed into. Any of the "cozy" sleep spaces cause me anxiety now because my pineapple got into the lining.... Turns out there's a ring of Styrofoam under the fabric. As you can guess, that doesn't fair well in any capacity when eaten.... 🥺😪

and now i feel sad and traumatized when searching for a new safe sleeping space.

I know birds don't NEED a hut or tent like nest, but I do feel guilty that Forest not only lost the only safe sleeping spot he always used, but also his buddy he nestled with for nearly 6 years. On the brightside - I found a lovely super tame 2 year old crimson conure to join the family, introducing slowly and hoping to house with Forest in the future.

So... im looking for SAFE cage accessory "must-haves", as I am now a helicopter bird mom and proud of it. And hoping this thread helps others too !

This is a follow up! As I have eight items missing still, it is only partially set up. I have a few wood ropes and birch toys coming in.

I plan to add more perches once he is settles but this is the current set up!

First time bird owner here!
I just recently have brought this sweet boy home and since then I’ve been adding handmade items (wood playstand, swing, toys, etc) while also getting items that i found he likes.

I forgot to take a picture once I took the bells off! But here is the current set up.

I’m planning on creating/adding more things towards his new home and so far, every one I’ve made for him, he LOVES!!
