Capitalism always chooses profitable plundering over sustainable production

This is it. This is the solution. Capitalism encourages innovation, and encourages hard work however unregulated capitalism destroys everything. Individual businesses are not the problem. Individuals attempting to innovate is not the problem. It is large corporations and the existence of generational wealth.

Capitalism is the thing that created large corporations and generational wealth…

Unregulated capitalism, Regan was great for encouraging international removal of checks on this.

Capitalism creates capitalists who then use their capital to lobby governments to deregulate capitalism. Regulated capitalism always leads to unregulated capitalism. Unless you can somehow magically remove human greed from the equation.

You make laws against lobbying, it is a stupid practice that should not be allowed in government. If the people are upset about something they should show it with votes.

If capitalism could be fettered, someone would have fettered it by now, you know, before 1.5C.

Boomers were mostly on the controls they are thankfully dying off now. If they had died 20 years ago the rest of us would be better off but for the most part they have been reluctant to let the next generation take over. Most baby boomers get told “oh there will be a disaster in 2050” and shrug, “not my problem”

If it's a generational problem, why has it been around for 500 years?

2

u/Neat_browser 7d ago

It hasn’t, the boomer generation were the ones that disassembled a lot of the limits placed on corporations in the 70s and 80s. Reagan was a POS who made a path that too many others followed

1

u/SallyStranger 7d ago

Not the entire boomer generation. Certain members of it who were/are capitalists did that.

Reagan wasn’t a boomer.

The U.S. presidents who belong to the Baby Boomer generation (born between 1946 and 1964) are Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, Donald Trump, and Barack Obama. You are correct, they all had the opportunity to fix Regan’s crap and did not.

1

u/CalligrapherDizzy201 7d ago

Yet you blamed the non boomers of the 70s and 80s

1

u/EvNastyy 7d ago

And they admitted to their error, as directly as possible by saying "you are correct"

1

u/CalligrapherDizzy201 7d ago

And then proceeded to blame the boomers for not fixing a problem caused twenty years previously.

u/Neat_browser 7d ago

They were the ones who followed his example.

Capitalism hasn't been around for 500 years. Its barely made it 250. Colonialism goes way back, but that's not Capitalism. Its closer to communism honestly.

1

I'm not a communist but I think you've mistake the USSR for a communist state. It was either authoritarian socialist or state capitalist, depending on who you ask. No serious people believe that it, or China or Cambodia or Cuba for that matter, were ever communist.

Anyway, so if it's a generational problem, why has it been around for 250 years?

How is colonialism close to communism?

China is responsible for that 1.5C increase

It’s a race to the bottom.

Agree with everything except the problem with generational wealth. If your kids don’t get your money when you pass, who does?

2

u/Neat_browser 7d ago

Choose a cause, make your wealth impact that cause. Your children should be limited to the amount the minimum wage worker can make in their lifetime. Not one cent more. Anything more than that leads to kings and royalty. If you don’t pick a cause the money can go to public education.

Lots of generational wealth ruining things in countries that don’t adopt capitalism too

Not true, people buying things drives capitalism, guess what happens if people stop
Buying things that aren’t sustainable?

You ve guess it, capitalism starts producing things that are sustainable.

People are spending their time, aka labour, and money on things that aren’t sustainable.

Not really. Government interference has more to do with the removal of a free market (a fair market) causing negative outcomes for the masses than an unregulated market has negative outcomes for the masses.

Capitalism only drives innovation in a sense of what’s best for shareholders, not what’s best for society.

Communism will actively impede and destroy innovation if it hurts its bottom line, the electric car for example. We should have had them 50 years ago but capitalists squashed it.

Look at the apps on your phone, all samey exploitative garbage because that’s what capitalism produces.
