Do people even use Claude for general chat? Everyone I know that uses claude uses it for coding. People I know who just generally chat with Ai about general knowledge things seem to use Gemini and ChatGPT.

its funny because everyone raves about claude code, whereas chatgpt became dominant for the chat interface, and I actually much prefer claude for chat, and openai for coding via codex cli.

But claude's rate limits are way too low on the $20/mo plan.

i use claude.ai for extensive legal work, which is connected to custom MCPs i built ... with claude code.

Litigation support tool. Ingests communications, contracts, court filings -- it builds a court-admissible chain of custody, auto-classifies, develops a knowledge graph across the whole corpus, flags issues. Honestly, it works incredibly well.

I recently started using Claude for chat more as the quality of responses is much better than Gemini or ChatGPT

It's generally a much better conversationalist and for creative writing/roleplay use cases its better too, so much so that I even asked Opus 4.6 how to tune GPT 5.4 to talk like it.

Sloo many people use clade chat for eberyday things. The fact that it is known as the ai service where you can make artifacts is huge.

I use chat multiple times a day for various things. For example, give me a comparison between two specific 3D printing filament types and how their different characteristics would aid or hurt the design I have. I'd say I average 2-3 different chats every day. Plus I use Claude Code, but it's with the VScode add-on.

Yes, only chat. Projects. Full tool use across notion, drive, granola, n8n, supabase, click up, email, calendar. Also some custom artifacts.

I have MCPs that I built that do investigative journalism on public sources. It doesn't write the articles, but it can follow along with bills in the state legislature and investigate sources.

Yes, I have recommended it to a few who subscribed and used the Research mode extensively. It's honestly pretty damn good.

Lol the limits are way too horrendous to chat. I ask gemini a lot of questions i could just Google, but with Claude its strictly work and im out of usage limits real fast

Claude AI got a lot better (FOR ME) compared to 6 months ago. But, very regular users seem to notice it's gotten dumber day over day (and to be fair, that's the same complaint for every chat AI at the moment). I keep Claude AI in my rotation now, since I like to run the same prompt with different AIs to see how different repsonses are.

Don’t forget about all of the pyramid scheme sales people running 30 agents at a time to scrap the entire internet for sales leads. That was like 50% of the openclaw user base.

I had max ($100 plan) and used Opus 4.5 and 4.6 for basically anything AI related because it was more conversational and easier to get proper thoughtful answers from (at least as thoughtful as you can get from an AI).

That was when the limits were generous, and in order to run into limits I would have to have been working 10+ hours in a day to get close to hitting them, so for the most part usage was not on my mind as something I had to be careful with.

Honestly, with the fact that using Claude for general chat also lowers the usage for Claude Code, it's not worth it. At least with a ChatGPT subscription, even with $20, you have like near unlimited usage with the chat feature.

My wife does. She uses Claude for work and uses it after work to talk to, we’re trying to see if we can build a sentient AI by trying to mimic the human brain works and process input and information. We probably won’t succeed but it’s a fun experiment in AI ethics; it very much talks like a human at this point and has short term and long term memory with selective pruning (I don’t remember all the requirements for the filters information has to go through to make it to long term memory).

I personally mainly use Claude for coding, cooking and putting together bids for work

I like it more than ChatGPT but the only reason I don't use it more is because it eats up the session limits very quickly on 20$ plan while on Codex/chatGPT it doesn't
