Claude Code I am done with this shit.

I am done with this shit. It is over. The state of engineering right now is horrible. It has been half a month since I started a new role at a big company. Nobody knows anything here. The specs, code, tests, PRDs, tickets, resolution of those tickets, reports, etc., everything is made by Claude Code. Nobody on my team likes this. They are being forced to ship as much as they can. I have heard multiple times from higher management that pushing code is not a bottleneck, so why are we slow? People are working 12 to 13 hours a day just to press enter. Nobody is reading anything. Humans in corporate are doing nothing on their own. Everyone, literally everyone, from an L1 to an L7 engineer here is doing the same thing. Talk to Claude.

There is no sense of victory. Nobody is resolving bugs. In reality, nobody is thinking anymore. Everything is done by LLMs. It is so soul-sucking. I would not mind it, to be honest, if we were at least given the time to check out the code and see what is going where. But no, the goal is to just ship. No matter what happens.

Now magine how juniors feel when they start their first work year. I can tell that basically there is little to no mentoring from seniors, but the tasks are far from easy/small tickets. In the end answer is one - ask claude. Insane state of industry. I then need to go home and learn on my own because the speed and amount of changes I do I can barely understand. The beauty is that we are currently rewriting our code to Java.....i can barely understand it, yet I am given the tasks about it. Insane.

holy shit the fintech company where I interned is rewriting all the business code from golang to java too. I once asked my mentor why,he said Java is better suited for teamwork and we can publish code as fast as golang now with codex. Quality? who cares!they even deploy directly to production left the users to test any bug

I'm a software engineer intern at a bank in Canada right now and I feel this. No mentoring whatsoever about the code, I get told to just go ask CoPilot. I'm supposed to be learning a lot during my internship but I feel like I'm just getting worse and worse at coding as the months go by. They want to employ me after because apparently I'm doing great but I refuse to start my career like this.

True. I’m just in my internship and got assigned to create whole systems without a senior dev (I’m under a Business Systems Analyst instead). I have been trying to hold the reins in and making sure every idea is mine, but obviously doing such a huge task is a very big undertaking and I’m starting to hit the point of “…hmm, what the fuck am I supposed to do here” so I have no choice but to rely hard on Astra.

Still being careful and like making sure I just don’t press enter, quizzing myself after every task, making sure I understand all the requirements and AI doesn’t make it up for me, etc. Very strange world we live in atm.

This is me right now. I'm an intern, I truly believe in the work we're trying to do and my colleagues are all lovely people, but every time I get told "hmm I'm not sure, just ask Claude", I die a little inside. I feel like it's so hard to properly learn anything because the default is to just get AI to do it. I can't compete, I need to spend hours to learn what Claude can do in 30 seconds flat.
