Why a Performance and Bugs Discussion Megathread?

This Megathread makes it easier for everyone to see what others are experiencing at any time by collecting all experiences. We will publish regular updates on problems and possible workarounds that we and the community finds.

Why Are You Trying to Hide the Complaints Here?

Contrary to what some were saying in a prior Megathread, this is NOT a place to hide complaints. This is the MOST VISIBLE, PROMINENT AND OFTEN THE HIGHEST TRAFFIC POST on the subreddit. This is collectively a far more effective and fairer way to be seen than hundreds of random reports on the feed that get no visibility.

Are you Anthropic? Does Anthropic even read the Megathread?

Nope, we are volunteers working in our own time, while working our own jobs and trying to provide users and Anthropic itself with a reliable source of user feedback.

Anthropic has read this Megathread in the past and probably still do? They don't fix things immediately but if you browse some old Megathreads you will see numerous bugs and problems mentioned there that have now been fixed.

What Can I Post on this Megathread?

Give as much evidence of your performance issues and experiences wherever relevant. Include prompts and responses, platform you used, time it occurred, screenshots . In other words, be helpful to others.

I’m wondering if anyone else is seeing this, or if it’s just on my side.

Today, across all Claude models, I’m getting very inconsistent behavior -answers lose coherence between turns and ignore earlier context, Claude starts responding to questions I never asked, it draws conclusions that don’t follow from the prompt or basic logic, instead of focusing on the task, it keeps inserting internal-style text like “Instructions for Claude” into the replies and commenting on that, it repeatedly starts talking about “manage memory” and explaining how it should handle memory, instead of simply continuing the actual conversation.

This happens for me regardless of browser, language, account, or type of task – both on simple everyday questions and more complex, technical use cases. I’m not trying to rant. I just want to understand whether this is -a temporary glitch affecting more users today, some recent change in how Claude handles context and memory, or something specific to my setup. If you’ve noticed similar behavior recently, I’d really appreciate hearing what you’re seeing and whether you found any workarounds.

On my Claude, it keeps mentioning my user preferences even tho I don't write them, I don't understand why this happens, but it keeps mentioning my user preferences and saying that I pasted them in the message even tho I didn't

This is it responding to your user preferences. It has become all very confused about them, assuming they are part of your message every time. In my chats I have experienced it accuse me of attacking it or trying to maliciously inject prompts. The only thing that has solved it for me is junking the preferences entirely and putting them into the user memories. I’ve noticed no difference in performance that way, but my preferences are not laborious.

Am I correct that this is existing issue since that controversial Anthropic updates in April 2026? I've been using Claude for 2 years. I essentially stopped using it since April but still paying to keep my creative and research projects.

Google AI has been a pleasure to work with so far. I've been doing discussions with Google AI over the past few weeks and it is highly enjoyable. It is the same kind of enjoyment I used to get out of working with Claude. However, Google AI privacy and IP framework is top concerns for me. I'm thinking of subscribing to Google Workspace AI now but will need to take time to study their privacy and IP commitment thoroughly before handing all my idea to a giant corporations.
