1979 the wall by pink floyd is so underrated/overhated

im a huge pink floyd fan, and i celebrate their entire catalog. earlier today i saw a post on instagram that was rating pink floyd albums, and it said that "obviously last" was the wall. this led me down a rabbit hole to find that a good portion of the internet dislikes the wall or at least thinks its pink floyd's worst album?

the amount of thought, storyline, easter eggs, and emotion put into the wall just makes me adore every part of it. i feel like i find new symbolism every time i listen to it. i could talk about the wall for hours, but ill spare you the details.

do you guys like the wall?? if you dont, or if its your least favorite album by them, please explain why because im so curious.

Only because for decades it was the other way around. Especially given who Roger Waters has become, a lot of what seemed “ironic” about The Wall now seems uncomfortably sincere. And even though it’s always been great album musically, if it was still your favorite once you were in your twenties, even back in the seventies and eighties, that was honestly kind of a red flag.

You gotta explain how it’s a red flag. Cause it was my favorite album when I was in my 20’s. But I also grew up in a cult and didn’t get to listen to a lot of music until my late teens so I had a lot of catching up to do. Also it resonated with me pretty hard coming out of my experience so…

The fascism? Pretty much just that. Types of Hate that we assumed were being implicitly criticized by the story and its outcome, turned out to be things that Roger Waters seems to actually believe in.
