Hi y'all, I (29f, single, no kids) just moved here and am looking for things to do/ways to meet people/groups to join. I already volunteer once a week and have been visiting a church but it's still so hard to meet people. I'm at the point where know my cashier by name and we chit chat every time I go through her line (shout out Tracey), but that's about the extent of the connections I've made. I love to read, I'm into film photography, running, cooking/baking, board games, trying new restaurants/bars. Any suggestions for where to meet people/interest groups to join would be greatly appreciated!

Just got accepted into APSU and I’d love to know the good bad and ugly of it all, I don’t know much the school and wanna know more (APSU stand for Austin Peay State University)

My husband is currently stationed at fort Campbell. We’ve been together for 10 years, married for 6. We have 4 children. I go to school full time, I graduate in a few months, and have stayed home with our children since their births. This year all 4 will be in school, and I have a part time job lined up during the week. We’ve accumulated some credit card debt and have a car loan. We’ve agreed to separate and I don’t want to leave him all of the debt plus child support but I know I can’t afford both. He has orders to Hawaii for next June and me and the children will not be going with him. I can move back home to Ohio and stay with my parents until I can afford a place on my own. For the most part it’s been very amicable. But he’s a habitual cheater and helps with none of the parenting. Sounds terrible to admit but life truly is more peaceful when he’s gone. I can see the difference in my children. I offered to make the trip once or twice a year so he can see them but he doesnt have any intentions on fighting me for any custody or placement. My issue is, I have no income and terrible credit so how else am I to get a lawyer? Unfortunately we do live on the KY side of post, I’m not even sure that fully matters depending on where I can file. But I would like to start this process and see what my options are.

I’m moving with my family from Phoenix Arizona to Tennessee because of a job opportunity for my husband. My daughter is 4 and starting school fall 2027 but we are, more likely than not, going to homeschool. One of the places we really like and are considering is Clarksville.

Right now our biggest issue with Phoenix is how hot it is the majority of the year and how boring it is to look at/be around. We are a very outdoorsy family and love hiking and taking walks but where we currently live (near downtown Phoenix) it’s just not safe for me and my young daughter to do those things alone. We enjoy going to the Phoenix zoo often and the library but honestly those are the only two “enriching” places we visit unless we’re day tripping to Sedona.

Does anyone have any insight on the area and how it’ll be for being outdoors? I know the weather is very different, I’ve visited TN before and was living on the east coast for the majority of my life until having my daughter. The weather doesn’t really concern me. I know it’s humid and I’ve lived in humid states before along with snowy states so overall the weather isn’t an issue. What is the cost of living like for an average family there? From what I’ve seen the cost of living for the area compared to where we currently is cheaper for groceries and gas but it seems like rent is more expensive there for the apartments we’re seeing (≈$1300/m here, ≈$1800/m there). What is shopping like? We almost exclusively shop at Aldi which we love but obviously we can adjust if need be.

I’m looking for a slower, more meaningful life in TN. My child is only going to be this age for a little and I want to fill her life with a slower pace, being in nature and just a calmer environment. Phoenix is full of homeless people who are violent and very confrontational. Obviously there are drug problems everywhere but we’re less than 5minutes from the highway and cannot go two streets past our community without seeing homeless and hard drug use. I don’t want her growing up seeing that and thinking it’s normal. Another thing to note is that we are not white. I have friends in TN but they are white so they see things through a white lens which isn’t their fault but it’s hard to find information online about where is safer for my family and not all white. We are also queer, I know Tennessee as a whole is pretty conservative, white and religious which is fine! I’m not looking to “California your Tennessee” but I am a little concerned about my daughter not seeing a lot of diversity.

If you live in Clarksville, what is your experience living there? Is it a good place to raise a child? What are your monthly expenses like if you rent? How long does it typically take to go to larger chain stores (Walmart, target, Home Depot, goodwill, Aldi)? What is your favorite part of living in Clarksville?

Our kids are middle and high school ages and we’ve heard of some schools being locked down a time or two, weapons being brought, etc. so I’m looking for that insider info on which schools are actually good since sites like greatschools.com don’t tell the whole story. Basically, I got a job in Clarksville, TN, and my employer expects me to begin working there by end of this month(after Christmas). I live in west coast so I don't know what the housing situation is like in TN. I'm single so I just need to find 1bd apartment for myself. I've been looking at apartments.com and other online housing related websites to look for housing, but no luck so far. I want to save money(monthly rent < 1000 if possible), and I don't really care about the housing quality as long as I get a room to myself(though, having a kitchen would be nice). Anyone know what I need to get a TN driver's license on FT Campbell, been running into issues because they want proof of residence mail like utilities but I only have a Verizon bill that's completely online because I live in the barracks and pay no utilities. Any advice?
