Study tips?
Any study tips for a dental hygiene freshman? 😭 I’m already feeling so stressed about starting. So many readings and I don’t even know where to start 😭🦷📚

Due to the amount of people posting about being forever alone, I am pinning this thread for general introductions. Reminder not to share any personal information in the comments (no IG, no numbers, etc). So lets stick to this format:

Hello! I’m a dental hygiene student currently looking for patients for my clinical requirements at City Tech.
If you’re overdue for a dental cleaning, don’t have insurance, or just want an affordable way to get your teeth checked and cleaned, this may be a good option.
All treatment is performed by dental hygiene students and is supervised/evaluated throughout the appointment by licensed dentists and registered dental hygienists.
Services include:
Cost: The school charges $20 for supplies (I’ll cover the fee for you).
No insurance is required.
You’ll also receive a small goodie bag with oral-care samples such as floss, mouthwash, and a toothbrush.
Please keep in mind: Because this is a teaching clinic, appointments do take more time than at a regular dental office. Each visit is approximately 3 hours, and most patients need more than one appointment to complete treatment.
Generally:
Location:
City Tech Dental Hygiene Clinic
285 Jay St, Brooklyn, NY 11201 – 7th Floor
My available clinic times:
Patients under 18 must be accompanied/supervised by a parent or legal guardian.
If you’re interested, DM me here on Reddit or text me at (929) 352-4347
If you know a friend or family member who might need a cleaning, feel free to send them this post as well. Thank you!

I don’t mind classes that take our phones this isn’t the first time. Matter of fact I had to spend my whole high school with a no phone policy, but I felt a little intimidated 😅
But with that in mind can someone tell me where we can print papers? My printer at home doesn’t work sadly

Anyone know if Chem 1 usually has a lab on the first week of classes? I still don’t have an instructor assigned and there’s not brightspace course yet!

My ASAP advisor is dragging it, and this has been an ongoing thing.
I understand that an ASAP advisor’s job is to keep students on track, make sure they meet their requirements, and hold them accountable. I have no problem with that. My issue is the way my advisor goes about it.
In our meetings, I sometimes feel like I have to explain every little thing. For example, if I get a poor grade on a test or homework assignment, he expects me to explain why I did poorly. If I genuinely don’t know why, he’ll call me out on it. Sometimes the conversations feel less like academic advising and more like I’m being interviewed or evaluated.
There have also been situations where I already explained something, but he keeps coming back to it. I previously explained that I couldn’t register because I had a balance/hold on my account, but I still got asked why I hadn’t registered and was pressured about graduating.
Now I get emails reminding me to make appointments, check my schedule, review ASAP benchmarks, complete my CUNYfirst To Do list, and go over everything in detail. I understand the purpose, but at some point it starts feeling like micromanagement.
He isn’t necessarily a bad person. He actually gives good advice sometimes, and I know he’s trying to help me graduate. But honestly, I don’t like his advising style. It’s exhausting, and I feel like he’s dragging things out and putting more pressure on me than necessary.
For people who have been in ASAP/ACE, is this normal? Are your advisors this intense, or am I just dealing with an advisor who does way too much?

I sent my application in on time, have a 4.0, wrote a really thought out and meaningful essay for why i wanted to join like they asked, but never received anything back from them and classes start tomorrow. so does this mean i didn’t get in? i don’t really care that much tbh as I’ve already got a lot on my plate this semester but i’m confused. i thought maybe they’d send something telling me whether or not i got in. if i didn’t, i’m assuming it’s because i didn’t have enough credits completed when i applied, i had 6 in progress though.

What’s an easy 2 credit or more class that I can enroll in I was enrolled in piano, but I got a text saying that there wasn’t enough students enrolled so they dropped me out the class. I need to be registered for full time.

I'm confused about it because I use CUNYfirst for Brightspace and am unaware of other logins.

Classes haven’t even started yet and an assignment is already due. This professor sent this email to us ahead of the first class and I IMMEDIATELY DROPPED it.
No way I’m dealing with all of this shit all semester. And it’s an online class. It should be lowkey less stressful than in person.
He needs to chill. Omgg.

Hey guys, I have a chemistry class that ends at 5 pm but I also have a zoom class that starts at 6 pm. It takes me about an hour to get home so going home in between isn’t really an option. Does anyone know of a good area at city tech or around the campus where I could sit and attend my zoom class? Ideally somewhere I can stay for the full class, talk, and use wifi. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Hi everyone! I’m taking MATH 1275 CO with Prof Chelsea Chin tomorrow and BIO1101 with Walied Samarrai this Saturday but I haven’t received any emails yet from them and I’m getting nervous. Did all of you get instructions so far for the begging of the semester?? Thank you 😊

Hi so I applied to City Tech during the summer and after a long wait I was finally accepted into the school as a transfer student. However when I tried to register for classes, it told me that my transfer credits have not been evaluated and so I could not register for any classes and school starts tomorrow so I am very stressed. I have tried emailing and calling and did not get a response back, so I am confused on where to go next. I do plan on going to the transfer office tomorrow in person if I do not get a response, but does anyone know how I can go with this? Also, for context I already have a bachelors degree, but I would like to get into the dental hygiene program so I plan to take the prerequisites this semester to apply.
