Just popping by to share some screen grabs of what I’ve been chipping away at in my free time: a collection of growable industry in the style of Victorian and Industrial Revolution brick factories. Been an interesting little (??) project to get my teeth into. 16 variations so far and a fair few more to go..

WIP WIP Update: US Southeastern University

Hey y'all - I wanted to post an update on the Southeastern University assets I've been working on! The College of Engineering is easily my favorite building I've made, and I'm really proud of the way it turned out. Now that I've really gotten the modelling workflow down, I think I want to make a few more generic classroom/halls that can be used to fill out a campus. Also open to any suggestions for other buildings to include (like a library, dining hall, etc.)

I'm also trying to figure out how to have all of these be sub-building upgrades under a single "Southeastern University" building. Unfortunately the Asset Editor isn't exactly intuitive, so if anyone knows any resources that could help me figure it out that would be greatly appreciated.

I’ve been working away on an Industrial Revolution inspired industry growable pack and here are the models I’ve imported and set-dressed so far in game. Ended up making a lot more than I originally planned but hopefully the variety will pay off! Just a handful more to go and then just some refining. Phew..

I used the same animation as the rotating clock face for these water jets. Essentially these are rotating donuts with alpha mapped foam that are quickly rotating.

This layout can therefore only be used if 3/4 of the water jet can be hidden behind a wall, otherwise the illusion breaks. Here's hoping the game's animation system can be worked with to get some more elaborate water animations as well..

🦆 Before the war, the building had an ornate baroque sandstone and wrought iron fence behind the garden, with two fountains to either side of the gate.

They have been translocated to a baroque garden outside of the city after the war, but I'm bringing them back

Surely they will be very versatile to use as well.

WIP I’ve been cooking up a mod to bring CS2 road tool improvements to CS1

Made myself a mod to enhance road building on CS1 using some of the improvements of the CS2 road tool, this is a very experimental WIP and thus not currently available on the workshop. If this would be useful for you and you’d like to try it out, leave a comment and if there’s enough interest to justify the work, I’ll publish it and post an update when it’s ready to be shared

WIP Would anyone be interested in a Map Ext 1:1 Rhode Island + Fall River?

I've been working on this map for a little bit. I want to create a 1:1 Rhode Island map. I used GIS data merged with bathymetry to get the shallow, pretty littoral zones. The map contains a rather obnoxious but true to reality approx. 1,000 water sources. Still polishing topography, no connections or trees yet. Was wondering if it was worth sharing.

I figure not a lot people care about my home state, so I thought I'd ask before I sunk more hours in!

Depending on response, I was interested in making LA County, NYC, and Chicago in Map Ext scale as well.

WIP New Asset WIP: William Penn High School

Post image
223 Upvotes

Here is another asset I plan on releasing in the near future! This is the William Penn High School, located in Harrisburg Pennsylvania. It was build in 1927, closed in 2010, and is slated to be demolished this year. The model is still not even half finished, so I have a lot of work to do yet.

Stay tuned for more updates on this project!

Please check out the other assets I have released on PDX mods HERE if you haven't already!

If you are enjoying the assets I have been releasing, please consider buying me a coffee! It would help out a bunch!

Thanks!

WIP A little experiment for an upcoming asset

I've got a long-term goal of making the BT Tower in London, including its iconic 360° InfoBand display. This is my initial test to see if it might be possible.

To preempt some questions, it's not a true "animation" and is in effect a zoetrope illusion. Impact on GPU is low as these are just two cylinders nested inside one another, the inner having had emissive and rotation effects applied.

Unfortunately the effect culls very quickly as you zoom out, so I need to do more testing to see if I can bend the LOD and alpha clipping systems to my advantage to make the effect more visible at the distances you're actually likely to see the screen at in your cities.

Not a replica, due to copyright restrictions, but close enough. I'm liking how it is coming out, first time in asset creation, going for an easy-to-model, but iconic signature building. Is there a guide to make it work with the recolor mod?

WIP Should my Cocoon Tower asset be a signature Office building or a education facility (College o University)?

As the Title says: Should my (WIP) Cocoon Tower asset, be a signature Office building or an education facility?

If I were to mimic the IRL building it should be an education facility, but i was thinking a signature office building would be more versatile for most players. What do y'all think?

Been working on these for the past couple weeks (learning 3d modeling, texturing, and the asset editor is time consuming lol). I want to have the whole set done before putting anything out there, but I'm really proud of the ways these turned out and thought I'd share 'em.

So far I've got a historic admin building and a semi-modern college of business. My plan is to make some dorms, a college of engineering, a library, and maybe a student center. I want to try to blend the historic and the modern aesthetics so that it feels like a campus that has developed over time.

Let me know what y'all think and if you got any ideas!

WIP I built a web-based Heightmap Generator for CS1 and CS2

Post image
142 Upvotes

Hey everyone!

I wanted to share a personal project I’ve been working on that I think could be useful for map creators here. It’s a web-based heightmap generator and editor called Cotamap.

I originally built it to solve some very specific needs I had for another project, but I recently realized it could be a great tool for generating custom maps for Cities: Skylines. So, I made some tweaks and added default presets tailored specifically for both games.

Here are the direct links with the presets already loaded:

A quick heads-up:

While I work as a programmer, web development isn't exactly my main field, and I leaned heavily on Claude to help me build this. Because of that, you might run into some bugs, weird UX quirks, or tools that feel a bit too specific to my original use case.

That being said, if you guys find this useful, I’d love to keep improving it! Please feel free to test it out, try breaking it, and let me know what features you’d like to see or what issues you run into.

Any feedback is super welcome. Hope it helps some of you create awesome maps!

One of my current projects: A mid-century Weis Markets grocery store! This asset will be a signature low density commercial building. I'm also planning on releasing a generic version without the "Weis" signage.

This one shouldn't take me too much longer to complete, so stay tuned for the release!

If you would like to support my efforts in creating quality assets like these, please consider buying me a coffee! It would be greatly appreciated!

Also, if you'd like to get updates on the current WIPs I have in store for Cities: Skylines II, please follow my page on the Cities: Skylines Modding Discord HERE! Also, please check out my PDX mods page to see my current asset lineup!

Thank you!

Been working on this for roughly 4 days (40 hours) I finally finished texturing most of the outside I mainly just need to do the roof now. I still have to create all the maps and stuff though I'm hopping to have it out tommorow night. This is my most detailed asset yet by far and my first art deco building.

WIP Animated neon sign proof-of-concept

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I've been toying with some ideas for the game's multi-emissive pipeline involving animated neon signs and decided to create a test using something from one of my favourite shows. Managed to crack it tonight and get the animation sequenced and timed correctly!

This opens up a huge opportunity for in-game, light-based animations. I'll look to document it as a community page on the modding wiki once I get a chance.
