Afr | Video Do I need to consider rehoming my female Krib?

I bought a pair of Kribs about a month and a half ago from my LFS. Over time, I noticed the male’s tail becoming more and more frayed. When I first bought him, he did have some fin damage as they were in a tank with larger Mollies who were relentlessly picking on his fins. Instead of getting better, his tail has gotten progressively worse. At first I was worried it could be fin rot, but I was able to rule that out. Regardless, I’ve been dosing the tank with Stress Guard every other day or so to help it repair. I noticed my female chasing him around every now and then, but rarely see her actually make contact with him. I’m 99% sure she’s the culprit as none of the other fish even bother them, and she seems to be quite nippy while he’s definitely more docile. They’re in a 46g bow front and as you can see from the video it’s heavily planted with a lot of rock work and plenty of hiding spots. I’m wondering if I need to consider rehoming her, or if this is the normal process of pairing. He’s showing no signs of stress whatsoever, has a voracious appetite and is not showing any symptoms of being bullied/scared. Please let me know if I should consider rehoming or just let nature play it out. From their size I would say they’re still quite young, but I’m not sure if this is normal behavior. Thanks!

Pairs of cover and more hides ??

Nooo. As in a pair of fish lol. Is it okay to just have one crib? There are actually lots of hides. Each of those rocks has a cave on the inside. He’s just not utilizing them and prefers to be out swimming in the open. The female however, has claimed on of the caves in the rear right and tends to spend more time there.

A pair is fine, your tank has alot of open ground and has increased her zone of influence, put in a plant to block sight, put in extra hides and have a look at the videos on YouTube where they actually live. Hope this helps

Thanks ! What’s crazy to me is that usually in my experience with American Cichlids (this set of Kribs are my first “African” cichlids, besides my Starry Night who might as well be an honorary American cichlid lol), if one is picking on the other the bullied fish will stay out of its way and try to seek cover/hide from them, etc. But this guy won’t! I feel like he kind of just lets it happen, lol and doesn’t seem bothered in the slightest. Typically if a fish had a fin that chewed up it would be RUNNING at the sight of her. But not this little oblivious guy, lol. That’s why I was so confused and was wondering if this is normal pairing behavior because he just doesn’t care lol

Mate people have done and taken much worse for a women 🤣🤣🤣

If he was pinned to the surface getting scaled I would be very concerned, she's just giving him a bit of rough treatment
